Voting in Wisconsin: No Photo IDs Allowed

If you're voting in Wisconsin, and you want to VOLUNTARILY show your ID to assure that your vote isn't being stolen, forget it.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Voters cannot sign up with municipal clerks to voluntarily show their IDs when they go to the polls, the state elections board ruled Monday.

The move came in response to a group of Waukesha County women who have been asking clerks to check their IDs when they cast ballots to ensure no one steals their votes. But the Government Accountability Board, which runs state elections, ruled 6-0 that only the Legislature could set up such a system.

The fight over voluntarily showing IDs is the latest flare-up in the long-running debate over whether voters should be required to show IDs at the polls. When Republicans controlled the Legislature, they passed bills requiring photo IDs, but Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle has vetoed them, saying such a requirement would disenfranchise voters.

A separate effort allowing people to voluntarily sign up for showing IDs at the polls hasn't gotten through the Legislature.

A group known as We're Watching Wisconsin Elections has been trying to get municipal clerks to allow voters to sign up for the photo ID requirement, with little success. They asked the Government Accountability Board to change state policies so clerks would do that, but the board said it didn't have that power.

...Ardis Cerny, who is active with the group, got the City of Pewaukee to agree to require her to show her ID when she voted in the April election. But she was told last week the city would not allow that anymore.

"I just want to have my vote protected," Cerny said.

Leftists love choice, unless you want to choose to show photo ID in order to cast your vote.

Wisconsin remains a voter fraud haven.

No verifying one's identity allowed.

You don't have a choice.

I guess Tom Barrett needs all the help he can get.

One must show more pieces of valid ID to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert in the pit than to vote. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

The Dems are shameless in their opposition to photo ID in Wisconsin. Absolutely shameless.
