Obama - 'Kick Some Ass'

This is so lame.

Obama is listening to Spike Lee. He's acting angry, letting the public know that he's really, really mad about the oil spill.

In an EXCLUSIVE interview with NBC's Matt Lauer, Obama plays a tough guy. He talks tough.

I have to give the performance two big thumbs down. It's wooden and unconvincing.

It's not that I don't believe Obama is mad. Of course, he's mad about overseeing a federal government response to a crisis that Americans consider to be more botched than the response to Hurricane Katrina.

I just think it sounds stupid for the president of the United States to say during an interview set to air on the Today Show that he's on a mission to find out whose "ass to kick."

BRIAN WILLIAMS: Before we get to our correspondents, some late news tonight. Late today, Matt Lauer sat down with President Obama in Michigan for an interview to air tomorrow morning on Today. This is just in to us. And in this bit you're about to see, the president showed some anger on the topic of his handling of the oil spill so far. OBAMA: I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf. A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there, standing in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be. And I don't sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers so I know whose ass to kick.
So Obama is mad at a lot of people. He's mad at "these talking heads." He claims they weren't "even paying attention to the Gulf" while he was already visiting there and meeting with fishermen. Yeah, I don't think so. They were paying attention. Obama also addresses Bill Maher's charge that the way Obama has responded to the crisis has been as if it were a college seminar rather than a painful reality for people.
BILL MAHER: [P]eople have been waiting for Obama to do something. You know, I love him, but he's a little professorial. You know, he doesn't have that Clinton gene for, you know, the empathy kind of thing. He saw somebody, he said, 'I've been briefed on your pain.'
No, Obama wants Lauer and NBC to get the word out that he's not being professorial at all. In fact, the reason he has visited the Gulf to talk to folks is so they can tell him "whose ass to kick." The Leftists always complained that President Bush was a cowboy. He was criticized for not being professorial and a deep thinker. The same was true of President Reagan. It's odd that what the Leftists hated about Bush and Reagan are qualities they want to see Obama adopt. And Obama, willing to be whatever the Leftists want him to be, obliges. They want him to kick ass, so he actually says that's what he aims to do. We know that there's a lot of crass language used by Obama and Joe "Big F---ing Deal" Biden. We know that Rahm Emanuel is an expletive fountain. But, with the cameras rolling, while talking to Matt Lauer, I think it's inappropriate for Obama to speak in that fashion. It was no accident that Obama said what he did. He had that line ready to launch. Orchestrated anger is the stuff of an acting class exercise, not behavior worthy of the president of the United States. The political choreography is so insincere. It's so terribly awkward. Another weird thing-- Obama is supposed to settle things and manage conflicts with dialogue. Rather than being arrogant and tough, he believes in apologies and not being aggressive. So, instead of looking for "whose ass to kick," Obama should be looking to bow before the evildoers, right? I thought the ass-kicking era in America was supposed to end when Obama took office. I thought we had entered a new age of sophistication. I guess only some asses are targets for kicking. Oil companies get kicked, but plenty of asses are spared. The asses of tyrannical leaders and terrorist organizations with murderous ideologies are on the no-kick list. Private business beware. Obama's looking for you.

Harvey, that's the funniest thing I've read to date on Obama's chest puffing, tough guy rhetoric!
