Obama is fitting in some campaigning and fundraising in between his August vacations.

From the Martha's Vineyard Times:

The White House press office issued the following statement, Friday evening, July 23:

On Saturday, August 14, the First Family will travel to Florida's Gulf Coast, where they will spend the weekend.

...On the 19th, the Obama family will travel to Martha's Vineyard. After a busy and productive July, they are looking forward to returning to Martha's Vineyard to spend time together as a family before heading back to Washington on August 29.

After the Gulf Coast photo-op and before the 10 days on Martha's Vineyard, Obama will be doing some business in the Milwaukee area.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

President Obama is planning a trip to the Milwaukee area Aug. 16, a White House official said Tuesday.

The president is expected to talk about the economy and headline a fundraiser for the Wisconsin Democratic Party and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett's campaign for governor.

Obama last visited Wisconsin June 30 when he traveled to Racine. Wisconsin is shaping up to be a major battleground this fall, with competitive contests for governor, US Senator, Congress and control of the state Legislature.

Terrific.

Obama is going to talk about the economy.

Poor Obama and the family have suffered financially, too. Obama feels our pain between jetting to the Gulf Coast and then heading for 10 days on Martha's Vineyard.

What a crock!

I understand that Barrett and the Democrats need to raise money but they really are giving Republicans a gift by bringing in Obama to campaign.

He doesn't have a very good record when it comes to helping Dems get elected.

I suppose they're safe from the Obama curse given that there will be a buffer of months before the election. Still, cozy images of Obama and Barrett aren't a good thing.
