The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is offering contributors of $5 or more a chance to win an iPad Prize Pack.
(Is the DSCC copying Rush Limbaugh? To win an iPad from Rush Limbaugh, you don't have to "make a purchase." Just sign up on Limbaugh's Facebook page. Proof of citizenship is not required.)
First, the DSCC was running a raffle to attend a dinner with Obama in Dallas.
Now, it's an iPad.
As with the dinner contest, there are some strings attached. In addition to a purchased being required, making a contribution, there are other rules and restrictions.
Here's the e-mail from Paul Begala:
Dear Mary,
Who wants a chance to win an iPad? Don't all yell at once!
One lucky winner will get a brand-new iPad, a $100 iTunes gift card which you can use for some ebook downloads, and my personal recommendations for the best summer political reads. I've been poking around my bookshelf here, and I have some hot recommendations. And no, they aren't all ones I wrote.
Click here to make a contribution of $5 or more and you'll be automatically entered for a chance to win* an iPad, iTunes gift card, and an email listing my personal recommendations for political books you need to read!
So why an iPad? Well, we're in the middle of a BRUTAL campaign season - Democrats are fighting over twice as many seats as normal. The iPad is a nifty way to visit DSCC.org and keep track of all the shenanigans from Rand Paul, Sharron Angle and Co., not to mention the latest campaign news from Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer and all our favorite Democrats.
We're in a huge fight over whether our country moves forward or backward, and success depends on every Democrat knowing where we stand. And what better way is there to stay connected with the political world than with a brand new iPad? Incidentally, I hear the GOP is offering a quill pen and parchment. Fitting, since they are some of the finest minds of the 12th Century.

Just click and enter, and good luck! Someone's gonna win. It just might be you!

Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received. Promotion subject to Official Rules.
Sponsor: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Inc., 120 Maryland Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002
Note that the promotion is open only to U.S. citizens, or lawful permanent U.S. residents, who are legal residents of 50 United States and District of Columbia and 18 or older (or of majority under applicable law).
In other words, ILLEGALS need not apply. That rule runs counter to the position currently being pushed by Obama, Eric Holder, and the Democrats.
I think this means someone will have to determine if the winner is a U.S. citizen or legal resident. How? I thought that was a civil rights violation.
What about people in Arizona? Do they have to prove that they're a legal resident of the U.S. to win?
Taking a cue from Harry Reid, one could say, "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Democrat. OK? Do I need to say more?

Reminds me of one of those "Win a Free XBOX 360" deals where you have to sign up for 10 or so surveys (which usually aren’t free). Also ironic how they require you to be a legal citizen. Yes, you don’t need to be a legal citizen to live in this country or receive welfare, but you do if you want a free I-Pad from the Dems. LOL!
