David Zucker: Barbara Boxer Apology

We all know that Barbara Boxer wants to be called 'senator.'

In June 2009, Boxer made that very clear while questioning Brigadier General Michael Walsh.

BARBARA BOXER: I would... You know... Do me a favor. Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am'? It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. So I'd appreciate it. Yes, thank you.

Wisconsin's own David Zucker once supported Barbara Boxer.

He found it distressing that Boxer hasn't apologized to Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh for "arrogantly insulting an army officer."

Zucker regrets supporting Boxer now and offers a video as his apology.

He writes:

In her debate with Carly Fiorina, the subject was brought up, but Senator Boxer was quite adept at deflecting it — and still without an apology. Let this video be my apology. Every time I see the public record listing my campaign contribution to Boxer — I wince. I mean, we all have things we’ve done in the past that we’re embarrassed about, but I’d rather have my being restricted to stay at least 100 yards away from elementary schools be public knowledge than that $5,000 Boxer campaign contribution.

Senator Boxer knows that her strict unenforceable ballast water regulations for the state of California, do not have the technology available to be achieved or inspected. She knows also that the state dose not have, nor can afford an infastructure for enforcement. Senator Boxer denying National legislation, has cost all states jobs, invasive problems, large expense, and a human health risk. Even knowing these facts, she killed legislation passed in the house by 395-7, created to protect all American waters equally, under the guise to preserve California's state rights.
Since Dec 2009 Congress has been aware through prepared reports, the cost of foreign imports would rise with national ballast water regulations. Cost determine where manufacturing takes place.
Senator Boxer's policy to kill national ballast water legislation is in alignment with this administration's Coast Guard delayed plan for ballast water, as this will facilitate economic recovery based on renewed globalization. This type of recovery is dependent on increased shipping activity, giving our country a temporary recovery while riding on the coat tails of a communist country, until the next global economic crisis. Americans need these jobs brought home for a secure economic future. Our country should be providing the coat tails creating stability and quality of life for countries in the new world. DM said...: Interesting Senator Boxer of California kills ballast water legislation passed in the house 395-7, back in 2008 that would have protected the whole country equally over her wish for California to be able to enact stronger laws. Now articles are saying California is backing down on its current ballast water laws for being to strict. NY laws will be next to go, making President Obamas week military plan look attractive. Senator Boxers position in 2008 killing ballast water legislation, to allegedly preserve her states rights to stronger laws, (despite president Obama's reported rhetoric voicing support for legislation) was as the sponsor of the bill, former Rep Oberstar suggested "bullshit" and now it is being shown by California's latest action.
Now after all the wasted money this administration created leaving the states to create useless laws, the Presidents delayed Coast Guard plan will provide a weakened standard with a longer time line and President Obama and the Coast Guard will be praised for creating protection, when the reality will be, that killing what the house voted for in 2008 and the delayed weakened plan will favor the foreign shipping industry more than the American environment and human health or help create a level playing field for American manufacturing cost.
It really is not funny how our politicians waste our money to posture their political stature. Odd Paterson, governor of NY created strong ballast water laws- GONE!, Strickland strong advocate for ballast protection- GONE!, Oberstar creator of ballast legislation h.r.2830- GONE! Granholm strong advocate for national ballast water regulation mentioned for Obama positions,- PASSED OVER! Governor Schwarzenegger strong environmental advocate for ballast water, GONE!- coinciding with a newly created weakening of California's ballast water laws.
