Favre Meeting with NFL

The time has come for Brett Favre to talk about the scandal, no more dodging questions.

Need background on the Favre scandal? Here's an animated summary.

From USA Today:

Brett Favre is ready to let an NFL investigation of him "run its course," but legal experts are eager to see what path that probe takes after the Minnesota Vikings quarterback meets on Tuesday with an NFL security official.

Favre will meet in Minnesota with security director Milt Ahlerich to discuss allegations that he left racy voicemail messages and sent salacious photos to the cellphone of former New York Jets gameday hostess Jenn Sterger while he played with the team in 2008. The matter is being reviewed under the NFL's personal-conduct policy, and violations could subject Favre to disciplinary action including a fine or a suspension.

That could mean Favre will have formal representation in telling his side of the story.

"I would hope he'd have private counsel or the union involved," said Barry Peek, a partner in New York-based law firm Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein. "It's not a formal investigation or (involves) sworn testimony, but questions will be asked. The bottom line, the NFL is going to say it's inappropriate behavior and there are questions that he'll have to answer."

VIKINGS' RESPONSE: Harvin says team mindful it could lose Favre to suspension

...Regardless of the findings, Nancy Hogshead-Maker said the league's swift examination of the allegations demonstrates a proactive stance against sexual misconduct that sends a message to others.

"This is an opportunity for the NFL to get control of this and establish what kind of environment it wants women to work in," said the former Olympic swimming champion, now a professor at Florida Coastal School of Law and legal counsel for the Women's Sports Foundation.

I think Favre's sexual misconduct deserves a suspension. At the very least, I think he should sit out the October 24th game. A five game suspension would be appropriate. That would be perfect. He'd miss the November 11th game, too.

Sounds about right.
