Marquette Interchange Ramp Closed

ANOTHER ramp in the Marquette Interchange is closed.

Back in September, cracks were discovered in one of the ramps.

Now, repairs of the new construction demand yet another closure.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Transportation officials said they're closing the southbound I-43 ramp to eastbound I-794 Friday morning to continue repair work on the Marquette Interchange's Wisconsin Ave. southbound on-ramp.

The I-43 ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

In September, crews discovered cracks in a support column for the ramp that carries traffic from W. Wisconsin Ave., at N. 11th St., to I-43 southbound.

Transportation officials say there are marked detour routes.

This is ridiculous.

It's absolutely unacceptable.

The new Marquette Interchange should not be needing repairs.

If simple ramps can't be constructed properly, can you imagine all the problems that would be encountered with a high-speed train?

No thanks, Tom Barrett and Jim Doyle.
