Rasmussen: Walker - 50%, Barrett - 44%

Rasmussen has good news for Scott Walker.

I guess Obama's greatly-hyped appearance in Madison didn't change many minds. His "freeing the slaves" rhetoric didn't produce significant results.

And Tom Barrett's attacks on Walker, even with the media as his accomplices, "willing partners," aren't winning over Wisconsin voters.

Wauwatosa – Keith Gilkes, campaign manager for Scott Walker, released the following statement on polling showing Scott Walker’s continued lead over Tom Barrett:

“This is another positive sign that Tom Barrett’s desperate attacks aren’t working,” said Gilkes. “The people of Wisconsin want to hear how their next governor will get this state working again and only Scott Walker is giving them answers.”

Included in today’s poll:
• Walker leads Barrett by 6 points overall (50%-44%) with more Walker voters sure of their vote than Barrett voters.

• Walker’s favorability ratings are still the highest of any candidate: 53%-37% (+15). Barrett is viewed favorably by 46%, unfavorably by 44% (+2).

• Voters who support Tom Barrett also support Jim Doyle and his policies (74%-25%). Voters who support Scott Walker do not support Jim Doyle or his policies (90%-9%).

• Walker is still viewed most favorably by independents (Walker is +30, Barrett is -4) and in a head to head matchup, Walker leads Barrett among independents by 21 points.
