Rob Reiner: Tea Party and Hitler

What Rob Reiner said about the Tea Party patriots truly disgusts me.

He trashes the Tea Party patriots, comparing them to the followers of Hitler.

Reiner oozes hate and hurls his insults on Real Time with Bill Maher.

ROB REINER: I think they should know the Constitution before they become candidates. They should start in school and learn it before they become candidates.

BILL MAHER: See, that's the problem with people who make a virtue of the fact that they are not part of Washington and they don't know anything and they've never voted. Then everything is news to them, including the Constitution.

NICOLLE WALLACE: The wonder of it all.

REINER: They're selling stupidity.

MAHER: They are selling stupidity and ignorance, and I've never seen a group of people, I've never seen an election cycle with more ignorance then on, then this one.

WALLACE: But you know what? This is about...

MAHER: Right. I have not either.

WALLACE: No, no. But this... these are people...

MAHER: Much to my delight, I mean, you know.

WALLACE: These are people who have been nominated by the voters, and you can't indict the voters for believing that Washington is so worthless that anyone will do. I mean, this says something very sad about what the public and the voters think.

MAHER: Yes, I can. No, I'm sorry, if that's the only choice.

REINER: Well, let, let, let, here's the thing. Yeah, here's the thing. And we, you never get into a political discussion unless you bring the word 'Hitler' in. Hitler. You have to have Hitler. So, let's put, let's put Hitler out there. Here's Hitler. OK? You have, you have, you have bad economic times, right?

Hitler, by the way, never got more than 33 percent of the vote ever in Germany. You have bad economic times...

MAHER: Well, he only had that one election. Let's be honest.

REINER: Yeah. Right.

MAHER: After that, Hitler never ran for reelection.

REINER: No, that's true. That's true. That's true, but...

MAHER: There was no 1937 election.

REINER: He wasn't a majority guy, but he was charismatic. And they were having bad economic times, just like we are now. People were out of work. They needed jobs. And a guy came along and rallied the, rallied the troops.

We're, if, my fear is that the Tea Party gets a charismatic leader, because all they're selling is fear and anger.

MAHER: Right.

REINER: And that's all Hitler sold. 'I'm angry and I'm frightened and you should hate that guy over there.'

MAHER: Right.

REINER: And that's what they're doing.

Good grief.

Stupidity, ignorance, fear, anger, Hitler - Could Reiner be more disparaging, and annoying, and totally off base?

Comparing the Tea Party patriots and all those in opposition to Obama and the Democrat majorities to the masses waiting for the charismatic Hitler to come along is so denigrating.

I don't do name-calling on this blog, but I must make an exception in this case.

This has to be said: Reiner, you meathead, you.

Meathead might want to take a look at what his guy is up to, it's everything that he fears. I guess he's just too stupid to realize it.

No kidding.

Clueless.

What's bizarre is that the tea party and conservatives are trying to keep government in check and limit government from getting out of control and becoming tyrannical, as all governments in history eventually do. The liberal socialists are trying to grow and empower the government even more. You would think he would be a big supporter of the tea party if he's worried about an abusive government like what happened in Germany. It makes zero sense he takes this stand.

Does anyone have an answer for this kind of absurdity that comes from liberal democrats? Thank goodness for the people trying to limit government to the constitution. How someone could support anything else is mind-boggling.
