WI Dems Boycott Budget Vote

Many Wisconsin public school teachers are taking an illegal action by going on strike to protest the budget repair bill.

Now, Democrats in the Senate are staging their own strike of sorts to prevent the budget repair bill from passing.

This really pisses me off.

In effect, these Dems are disenfranchising me by ignoring the results of the 2010 election.

They are failing to do what they were elected to do, serve in the Senate.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Law enforcement is now searching for Democratic senators boycotting a Senate vote on Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair plan Thursday in an attempt to bring the lawmakers to the floor to allow Republicans to move forward with action on the bill.

But one Democratic senator said that he believed all the members of his caucus are in another state.

In a press conference just off the Senate floor, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) said that Democrats were "not showing up for work" and that police were searching for them to bring them to the floor.

"That's not democracy. That's not what this chamber is about," Fitzgerald said of the boycott to reporters.

Sen. Tim Cullen (D-Janesville) confirmed Thursday that Democrats are boycotting the Senate action on the bill in efforts to block a quorum and keep the measure from passing. Because 20 senators of the 33-member house are needed to be present to pass a fiscal bill, the body's 19 Republicans will not be enough to pass the budget repair bill without at least one Democrat present.

"They can't pass this bill if there's not a Democrat in the chamber," Cullen said.

Cullen said he believed all the Democrats were now outside Wisconsin, though he declined to say where.

"I think they're all out of state. I am anyway," Cullen said.

Speculation in the Capitol pointed to Illinois as the state where Democrats had headed.

The Dems are hiding in Illinois???

Unbelievable.

Talk about overturning the results of the election!

This is inexcusable.

As a Wisconsin taxpayer, I expect these elected officials to show up for work.

We had an election on November 2, 2010.

The voices of the people of Wisconsin were heard. We voted for Scott Walker and Republicans to rein in government spending.

These thugs in Madison, elected and unelected, are blocking the will of the people.

It makes me sick that I'm paying the salaries and benefits of these deadbeats. They depend on me for their paychecks. Without taxpayers, they have nothing.

GET TO WORK!

Senate Democrats plan to boycott Thursday vote on Walker's budget plan
Law enforcement are now searching for Democratic senators boycotting a Senate vote on Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair plan Thursday in an attempt to bring the lawmakers to the floor to allow Republicans to move forward with action on the bill.

In a press conference just off the Senate floor, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) said that Democrats were "not showing up for work" and that police were searching for them to bring them to the floor. He said the last time such an action had happened was in the 1990s and said he was not sure how much authority law enforcement officials would have to compel Democrats to show up.

"That's not democracy. That's not what this chamber is about," Fitzgerald said of the boycott to reporters.

Sen. Tim Cullen (D-Janesville) confirmed Thursday that Democrats will boycott the Senate action today on the budget-repair bill in efforts to block a quorum and keep the measure from passing. He said Democrats hope delaying the bill will give more time for union demonstrators who are protesting the bill's cutting of almost all union bargaining rights for public employees.

Can you imagine what the response would be if Republicans ever pulled a stunt like this?

I think Obama should comment. He should grow a spine and tell Democrats in Wisconsin to return to their jobs immediately and quit their obstructionism instead of using his campaign operation to organize protests in Madison.

This is not democracy. This is not the rule of law.

This is chaos.

These idiots are not helping Wisconsin. Anybody looking to locate a business will not choose Wisconsin and suppose that some businesses are now contemplating getting the heck out. Why would anybody want to do business in a state that is run like this?

These Dems are truly a disgrace.

They're hurting themselves more than anyone else.
