Christmas Parades and Recall Walker

I've seen some outdoor Christmas displays on front lawns that include Recall Scott Walker signs.

They have red and green spotlights on them or they're bordered with strings of lights.

I find that nauseating.

The Recall nuts have also brought their brand of Christmas cheer to community parades.

From WLUK:

The art of the holiday parade: they always have a band, spirit and of course, candy.

However, this year across the state, people hoping to remove Governor Scott Walker from office can also be found. And in Shawano, it was no different.

“We just figured we'd catch the people that can't get to town when our office is open,” said Leone Schneidewend, the chairperson for the Shawano County Democrats.

“The fact that they were right here, it made it a lot easier for me than having to drive around and find where I have to sign the recall,” said Scott Davids of Bowler.

Legally there is nothing wrong with the petitioners collecting signatures at events like Shawano’s holiday parade, but ethically some people have a problem with it.

“To come out to a Christmas parade and have it where you're trying to have people sign for it on a holiday parade, that's not right,” said Frank Stefl of Shawano.

The people behind the recall effort say it does have something to do with the holidays.

“If we can take back the state and straighten out what he has dismantled, that would be a big Christmas present,” said Scneidewend.

“You have an office in town, if people want to go there, let them go there,” said Stefl.

The recall supporters say they will continue to parade from holiday event to event until they collect the signatures they need.
