Tom Barrett's 'John Doe' Email

Clearly, Tom Barrett's campaign strategy is to attack and accuse and mislead.

To put it more bluntly, Barrett is stooping so low that he's using lies to convince Wisconsinites to elect him governor.

This is so hypocritical coming from the guy claiming to want to end the "civil war" in Wisconsin and bring the people together.

Since Barrett has a horrible record as mayor of Milwaukee and he apparently has no concrete plans whatsoever to move Wisconsin forward, he's running a truly dirty campaign.

Phil Walzak, Tom Barrett's Deputy Campaign Manager, sent the following email yesterday evening, subject line: "Hiding."

Friend --

What is Scott Walker hiding?

The ongoing criminal probe into Scott Walker's office is a tangled web of embezzlement, illegal campaign contributions, and abuse of taxpayer resources for political gain. So far, 6 former aides and associates have been charged with a total of 15 felonies and 3 misdemeanors; and it's creeping closer to Walker himself. While he claims that he is not the target of the corruption investigation, he has set up a criminal defense fund that can only be established under the following circumstances according to Wisconsin law:
1. Scott Walker is being charged with a crime
2. Scott Walker thinks he is being charged with a crime
3. Scott Walker is paying for the defense of crimes
4. Scott Walker has been convicted
5. All of the above

The people of Wisconsin deserve to know before the election if Scott Walker involved in illegal activity or is the target of a criminal investigation. Walker can finally put the doubts to rest by simply disclosing for the public the emails that have been turned over to prosecutors, and that's what we we're calling on him to do.

Will you join us in signing our petition calling on Scott Walker to release all of the secret emails that were sent on the illegal email network in his office?

Scott Walker thinks that he only has to answer to billionaire donors and out-of-state special interests, but we will prove him wrong. Knowing what really went on in Walker's office must be made public before the election. Otherwise, his power-plays of deceit and trickery will continue to plague the people of Wisconsin.

Sign the petition to make Scott Walker's secret emails public and help hold Walker accountable.

Thank you.

Phil Walzak
Deputy Campaign Manager
Barrett for Wisconsin

This is disgusting.

That "crime scene" photo of Governor Walker is disgraceful.

This crap is coming straight from Barrett's own campaign. It's not some drivel from lowest of the low Graeme "Boy Rape" Zielinski, a crazed Leftist blogger, or virtually anyone with a show on MSNBC.

Tom Barrett, Phil Walzak, and Barrett's other mouthpieces are completely ignoring the purpose and essence of a JOHN DOE investigation. It's supposed to be a secret proceeding. There aren't supposed to be leaks.

This drumbeat from Team Barrett about Walker coming clean on the John Doe proceedings is crazy.

Walker has said Barrett, as a lawyer, knows that he can't talk about the investigation. That, disgracefully, doesn't stop Barrett from pounding away and making demands that are ridiculous.

From PolitiFact Wisconsin:

Walker’s June 5, 2012, recall opponent, Democrat Tom Barrett, and the state Democratic Party have demanded that Walker explain more about his role in the investigation, which is done in a cloak of secrecy -- hence the name, John Doe. They want to know why he established the fund, and what and who the money is being used for. It is unclear if Walker has testified, but if he had he’d be precluded from saying so under the rules.

...State law says candidates can establish a criminal defense fund and that the money can be used for "expenditures supporting or defending the candidate or agent, or any dependent of the candidate or agent, while that person is being investigated for, or while the person is charged with or convicted of a criminal violation" of campaign laws.

Kevin Kennedy, director and general counsel for the state Government Accountability Board, said state law was vague about who would be considered an "agent."

"An agent is a very broad term," he said. "It becomes a question of fact which people can debate endlessly."

Kennedy said he was not able to discuss specifics about the establishment of the Walker defense fund. Walker is not required to publicly disclose how or on whom the fund is spent, he said.

Barrett is employing such deplorable tactics. I am so sick of the sleaze. Every day, I think less and less of Barrett. My eyes have been opened. I see the sort of person Barrett really is.

The fact is Walker cannot answer their questions and they know it.

Hey, Barrett and Barrett flunkies! Talk about policy. Talk about Barrett's "stellar" record as mayor of Milwaukee. Talk about issues. Talk about real things. Give us some reasons YOU would be a better governor than Walker.

Drop this "Walker is a criminal" line of crap.

Tom Barrett, have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?
