Food on a Stick - Wisconsin State Fair

So many foods on sticks, so little time.

Here's a list of the food you can get on a stick at the State Fair.

The Chocolate Covered Cranberries are so good. You can find them at the WI State Cranberry Growers Association, Wisconsin Products Pavilion.

Here's a new offering at this year's Fair: Goldfish Cheesecake.

That sounds kind of gross, especially if you've had pet goldfish.

The name is deceiving. Goldfish Cheesecake doesn't contain any fish. It's batter dipped cheesecake in the shape of a goldfish. Get it at Wok in the Park, Center St. between Badger Ave. and Central Ave.

Here's another new one for 2012: Deep Fried Pizza with Marinara Dipping Sauce.

Deep fried pizza on a stick - intriguing, but I like my pizza baked.

If you're interested, it's available at Brew City, Grandstand Ave. between Second St. and Benno's Micro Alley.

Everything tastes better on a stick.

(I can't back that up.)

Ah, but there's a catch. To be counted, the words "on a stick" must appear in the name (my family has played this game for years). So, though shish-kabobs and lollipops do, obviously in fact, have sticks, they do not count in the "on a stick" tally. By these rules, I count only 3 legitimate offerings at the linked Fair page.

Brewer Brat On-a-Stick
Coconut Shrimp on a Stick
Cruller On-a-Stick

Firecracker Chicken (Mesquite Jalapeno Cornbread Batter-Fried Chicken On-a-Stick) has "on a stick" in the DESCRIPTION, so it's a close one, but sorry, these rules cannot be compromised.

I don't know if having "on a stick" in the name is necessary to qualify, but there definitely are some foods that I don't think belong on the list.

Cotton Candy or Dove Bars???

No way.

I think the "on a stick" label should apply to foods not normally served on a stick, like stuffing and spaghetti and meatballs.
