Michelle Obama is irresponsible.
She deals in outrageous exaggeration.
One could classify her ridiculous comments as lies.
From The Hill:
First lady Michelle Obama said that students at a high school just five miles from her family's Chicago home told her that “every day they wake up and wonder whether they’re going to make it out of school alive.”Oh, good grief.
In an interview with "CBS Sunday Morning" that will air this weekend, the first lady said that when she met students after delivering a speech last month on gun violence, she was struck by the extent to which fear dominated the children's everyday lives.
“I mean, every single kid worries about their own death, or the death of someone, every single day,” Obama said.
If the violence in Chicago is so bad, why are the parents permitting their children to go to school? If I believed my children might not "make it out of school alive," there is no way I would allow them to go.
Why do these parents of Chicago high school kids vote idiots into elected office? Perhaps some officials willing to get tough on crime and enforce the law would be a good idea. Enough with the games.
"[E]very day they wake up and wonder whether they’re going to make it out of school alive," so says Michelle.
Really?
If it's so dangerous, if the possibility of death for these kids is so real, shouldn't she insist that her husband, the president, call in the National Guard to protect them? Shouldn't Obama call the governor of Illinois or his buddy Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and demand that they take immediate action so the kids manage to "make it out of school alive"?
Either Michelle is engaging in an intentional perversion of reality for political purposes or she's failing to demand action in a situation that qualifies as a true emergency.
Either way, Michelle is behaving inexcusably. Shameful dereliction of duty, First Lady.
