Obama Speech

Radical Islam is at war with us.

Will the commander-in-chief please stand up?

We need one.

The speech was odd. Obama took to the Oval Office to address the nation. I don't remember any other president dragging a podium into the Oval Office for a speech. What was that about? Weird.

We're being told the purpose of the speech was to show Americans he's taking the terrorism threat seriously.

Yeah, well, a brief Sunday night address isn't enough.

Nope.

Mission not accomplished.

This was especially odd:

OBAMA: Even in this political season, even as we properly debate what steps I and future Presidents must take to keep our country safe, let’s make sure we never forget what makes us exceptional.

Exactly.

We're exceptional? I don't think Obama believes that at all.

Then, there was the correction.

From Business Insider:

The White House issued a correction to part of President Barack Obama's during a rare Oval Office address to the nation Sunday evening.

When emailing out the official transcript of his speech, the White House amended the president's comment that Tashfeen Malik, one of the perpetrators of the San Bernardino, California, attack, arrived in the US as part of the US's visa waver program.

Malik actually came to the US last year on a K-1 "fiance visa," officials have said. She was engaged to Syed Farook, the other culprit in Wednesday's shooting, which left 14 dead and wounded more than 20 others. A K-1 visa allows the individual to come to the US and be married within 90 days, making him or her eligible for a green card and putting the individual on the path to eventual citizenship.

The visa-waiver program, which Obama mistakenly referenced, allows foreign individuals to come to the US for 90 days without a visa for travel purposes if they meet certain requirements.

Obama raised the waiver program on Sunday as one of several proposals on which he urged Congress to take action.

Obama and his administration really know how to ease fears and give us confidence that they have everything under control. They can't even get his little address right.
