Obama Knew About Russian Hackers, Did Nothing

What did Obama know and when did know it?

These days, a lot of people are PANICKING OVER PUTIN OMG. They’re finally saying the same things Mitt Romney was saying about Russia four years ago, although they’ll never admit he was right. But there’s one question they refuse to ask: If Russian hackers have become such a problem, where has Obama been this whole time?

The NYT just published a very alarming story about these Russian hackers, detailing just how inept our leaders (and aspirant leaders) are. And buried deep within the story, way down in paragraph 64, is the lede. Eric Lipton, David E. Sanger, and Scott Shane:

Mr. Obama was briefed regularly on all this, but he made a decision that many in the White House now regret: He did not name Russians publicly, or issue sanctions. There was always a reason: fear of escalating a cyberwar, and concern that the United States needed Russia’s cooperation in negotiations over Syria.

“We’d have all these circular meetings,” one senior State Department official said, “in which everyone agreed you had to push back at the Russians and push back hard. But it didn’t happen.”

So the Russians escalated again — breaking into systems not just for espionage, but to publish or broadcast what they found, known as “doxing” in the cyberworld.

Obama knew. He did nothing. The Russians saw this as a sign of weakness, and it emboldened them.

...And now, somehow, it’s Trump’s fault. It’s the fault of the political party he’s hijacked. Everybody is responsible for this, except for the POTUS who knew about it every step of the way and let it happen.

Obama needs to be held accountable for this.

He was briefed regularly on Russia's hacking activities but opted to do nothing.

But, yes, this is all about Trump and his good buddy Putin.

I wonder if Hillary is ticked off at Obama.
