All Souls' Day

It’s All Souls' Day, the feast of All Souls. This is the day we remember the faithful departed – those to whom we’ve been close in the past. Do you remember that beautiful little prayer? “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.” Happy All Souls' Day! @thegnewsroom
— Cardinal Dolan (@CardinalDolan) November 2, 2026
On the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day), the Church remembers and prays for all those who have died, entrusting the souls of the faithful departed to the loving mercy of God. May they be purified and welcomed into the joy of eternal life. 🙏 Share the name of a loved one who has passed away, and let us remember them together in prayer. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Pope Leo XIV made his way across Rome on Monday to the Verano Cemetery, where he celebrated Mass for the Commemoration of All Souls’ Day. In his homily, the Holy Father noted the connection with the Solemnity of All Saints, observed on November 1, which he described as giving “direction to our prayer.” God’s “fatherly and steadfast hands hold them for eternity,” he continued, “so that they may fully enjoy that vital, mutual belonging which the Lord promises to His people.”

All Saints Day
"Holiness is not for wimps and the cross is not negotiable, sweetheart, it’s a requirement." -Mother Mary Angelica“The saints suffered. Therese had tuberculosis. Teresa of Avila had cancer of the stomach. Padre Pio had perpetual diarrhea and asthma. Bernadette had asthma too. Mother Cabrini had high fever to malaria she contracted during her travels. Holiness is not for wimps and the cross is not negotiable, sweetheart, it’s a requirement”. -Mother Mary Angelica (to me) Happy All Saints Day

Archbishop Jeffrey Grob's Absurd Apology
CatholicVote President & CEO Kelsey Reinhardt on the Catholic bishops and archbishops praying over Trump: "We preach the Gospel to death-row inmates. No one is beyond the mercy of God. So the idea that Donald Trump is somehow prohibited from being prayed over, or that these bishops should apologize for praying, is absurd." @catholickelsey

Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob Apologizes for Praying with Trump
WHAT? It's wrong to pray with someone? Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob had "reservations" about meeting with President Trump? He regrets praying with the president of the United States? Don't those outraged over Catholic bishops praying in the Oval Office realize that they are being very political? Of course, there was a photo of the meeting. There's a photo of every meeting in the Oval Office. That's not manipulation or politicization. It's extremely disappointing that Archbishop Grob has deemed his visit with President Trump to be a mistake. His apology, in itself, is a political expression that is very troubling, far more troubling than saying a prayer in the Oval Office. I didn't think Archbishop Grob was like this. Would Jesus regret praying with anyone? Would he apologize for the act? I don't think so.NEW: Bishop William Joensen of Des Moines said the White House used a private prayer with President Trump “for partisan political purposes,” the second prelate to express regret over the Oval Office gathering days before the midterm election. Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob apologized on Sunday, saying that “something so sacred” had been manipulated. “I did not go without reservations,” he wrote. “I wish I had heeded them.” Pressure is building on the remaining 10 bishops to walk back their participation, and more than 2,500 Catholics have signed a letter asking them to apologize to the people of God and to Pope Leo XIV. https://t.co/a9xmB56n6f

SHARE:St. John Paul II - Feast Day
Every October 22nd, the Church celebrates the feast of Saint John Paul II, the pilgrim Pope. He traveled the world bringing the Gospel to all corners of the earth: 104 trips, 129 countries, millions of miles. And his final journey took him to France. He returned to Lourdes—a place that held a special piece of his heart, the shrine of the Virgin Mary, to whom he had entrusted his entire life: Totus Tuus, “Totally Yours.” Lourdes, in August 2004, was his final destination. Months later, he would depart for the Father’s house. There, with his strength fading, he gave the world his greatest lesson. He preached not with a speech, but with his frailty. The world saw him pray with all his heart, in tears, unafraid to show his weakness before cameras from across the globe. This giant sustained the Church and the world until his dying breath. Saint John Paul II, pray for us.
— EWTN News (@EWTNews) October 22, 2026
The feast of St. John Paul II is celebrated on October 22 because it marks the anniversary of the inauguration of his pontificate in 1978. On October 22, 1978, he celebrated the Mass inaugurating his ministry as Pope, delivering his famous appeal to the world: “Be not afraid! Open wide the doors for Christ!” He was elected Pope on October 16, 1978, but the Church chose October 22 as his liturgical memorial to commemorate the beginning of his papal ministry. St. John Paul II was canonized by Pope Francis on April 27, 2014, Divine Mercy Sunday. 🙏 October 22 is therefore a day to remember his extraordinary pontificate and his call to the world to open its heart to Christ.
— EWTN Vatican (@EWTNVatican) October 21, 2026
Today (Oct. 22) Catholics celebrate Saint John Paul II, Pope, a fearless apostle of hope, champion of human dignity, and shepherd whose historic pontificate revitalized the Church across the globe. Echoing his iconic invitation to "Open wide the doors to Christ," John Paul II traveled to the ends of the earth to proclaim the Gospel and inspire millions of young hearts. Entrusting his entire life and ministry to Our Lady under the motto Totus Tuus, he bore witness to the transformative power of Divine Mercy, showing the modern world that faith in Christ overcomes every fear. Saint John Paul II, pray for us!

Pope Leo Greets Faithful, Prays the Angelus
Pray for Pope Leo.Pope Leo greets pilgrims at the Sunday Angelus, his first scheduled event since leaving hospital on Saturday. In his words to pilgrims the Pope spoke of his experience in hospital, saying: "I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I have truly sensed your support. Thank you! I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase, as you know, I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers."

Pope Leo - Lung Surgery
Pope Leo XIV has said his doctors have found “a localized nodule” in his lung and will operate in a few days. Speaking at the Angelus on Sunday, he said the nodule was “detected at a very early stage and is well localized.” The Pope added that his doctors recommend surgery and that he will follow their advice, with the surgery scheduled for the coming days. Pope Leo thanked everyone for their spiritual closeness and entrusted himself to our prayers. “Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, doctors found a localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well localized. The doctors believe surgery is appropriate. Following their advice, I have therefore decided to undergo an operation to remove it.
