Rahami is the man seen in surveillance footage taken Saturday night in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, the site of an explosion that injured 29 people, a senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation told NBC News.

The source said there is other physical evidence linking Rahimi to the pressure cooker bombs that went off or were found in New York and New Jersey.

Rahami, who lives in Elizabeth, New Jersey, was identified as a suspect after a fingerprint was found on one of the devices that failed to detonate, a senior law enforcement official told NBC News.

They also found more information that pointed to Rahami on cell phones that were wired to the unexploded bombs, the official said.

"He certainly seemed to do virtually nothing to cover his tracks," the official says.

But the official downplayed any talk of Rahimi being part of a "cell" and said at this point have no idea whether anyone else was involved. There was no indication an ISIS cell was operating in New York City, FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. said at an afternoon news conference.

Wow.

You mean the suspect for the bombing that injured 29 people is Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan?

Rahami traveled back to Afghanistan. His family were known in their neighborhood as devout Muslims.

Didn't see that coming.

Rahami is in custody after a gun battle with police.

Ahmad Rahami was shot in the leg and managed to shoot one police officer in the hand and another in the bullet proof vest during the 10:30 a.m. confrontation in Linden, New Jersey, law enforcement sources said.

Calling Colin Kaepernick and the others refusing to stand for the national anthem to protest the oppressive police...

Bombs in Elizabeth, New Jersey - Mayor Christian Bollwage

Terrorists continue to plant bombs in New York and New Jersey.

A device exploded early Monday as a bomb squad robot examined a backpack that appeared to contain pipe bombs near an Elizabeth transit station, Mayor Chris Bollwage said.

A spokesman for Bollwage earlier said the explosion was a controlled detonation, but at a news briefing a few minutes later, Bollwage said the robot was "cutting into the device when it exploded."

"This was an explosive device" containing as many as five explosives, he said. "Based on the loudness, I think people could have been severely hurt or injured if they had been in the vicinity."

...Bollwage said he was "extremely concerned for the residents of the community" if "someone could just go and drop a backpack into a garbage can that has multiple explosives in it."

So, two guys were digging through trash in a waste basket and thought they found something of value. They retrieved it from the trash and later discovered it had wires and a pipe. They dropped the package and went to the police station to report what they found.

How fortunate is it that those two guys found the package, the BOMB, and notified police?

They saved who knows how many people from harm. Good job!

It doesn't seem like this is going to stop anytime soon.

Eventually, one of these bombs will explode as it did in Chelsea. The danger is real.

Apparently, these terrorists didn't get the memo that everyone is living in harmony now because Obama is president.



It must be residual anger from the Bush years. That would explain why some nutjob or group of nutjobs wants to kill innocent people.

When is Obama going to address the nation about this weekend of terrorist attacks in our country?

At least 29 people have been injured in an explosion in the Chelsea district of New York City, officials say.

The cause of the blast late on Saturday remains unclear. Mayor Bill de Blasio described it as "intentional" but said that there were no known links to terror.

The force of the blast blew-out windows and could be heard several blocks away.

Officials later told media that a device was found at a second location in the same district.

None of the injuries is life-threatening but one is serious, New York's fire commissioner said.

...Mr de Blasio said: "We do not see a link to terrorism." He said it was too early to determine the cause but added: "We believe it was intentional."

He also said there was no evidence of a link to a pipe bomb explosion in neighbouring New Jersey hours earlier.

Law enforcement officials said that the device found at the second Chelsea location appeared to be a pressure cooker attached to wiring and a mobile phone.

What does this mean? "We do not see a link to terrorism."

It's not reassuring to for de Blasio to say that. This bombing was a terrorist act.

Someone intentionally injured 29 people. The intention was to do harm, kill or injure random people.

Does de Blasio mean Islamic terrorism, no apparent link to that movement?
