WI State Fair Bans LGBT and NRA T-Shirt

If you're shopping for a funny and/or provocative t-shirt, a vendor at the Wisconsin State Fair will probably offer what you want.

Is it possible that someone might be offended by the designs?

Yes.

Does that mean the State Fair should ban shirts?

Absolutely not.

From WISN-TV:

Wisconsin State Fair officials had a vendor remove a T-shirt featuring President Donald Trump's face.

"We didn't ask them to take it down, we said, 'Take it down. Remove it,'" fair CEO Kathleen O'Leary said Wednesday.

The vendor is known for selling leather goods and novelty T-shirts.

The shirt in question said "LGBT" accompanied with pictures of the Statue of Liberty, guns, beer and Trump.

It's the first time O'Leary said they've put a stop to a vendor selling controversial T-shirts.

The decision was made after officials said they received several complaints Tuesday about the shirt being offensive.

Another shirt portraying a gun was also removed from sale.

"Certainly with the firearms, the shirts, messages that were on that, in light of the sensitivity of the unthinkable things that have happened, it isn't what we want here at the Wisconsin State Fair," O'Leary said.

The manager of the store said the shirts were not meant to be offensive, but funny.

...O'Leary said the state fair has an otherwise good relationship with the vendor that sold the shirt.

She expects the vendor to return next year.
Oh, good grief.

When I'm at the fair, the last thing I'm thinking about is complaining about a silly t-shirt.

What sort of miserable people find it necessary to complain?

Move on. Go get a cream puff. Look at the cows and chickens.

No t-shirt is going to ruin your time at the fair if you're a well-balanced individual.

This really is nuts. Never before has the State Fair demanded that a shirt be removed.

If O'Leary wants to get into banning offensive shirts, she certainly shouldn't stop with the two she chose to ban. She shouldn't be proud of her decision.

The banned t-shirts are still available online.

Can you go on with your life after seeing these?

Are you strong enough to deal with the existence of these shirts?

I hope so.

Good luck.

Bill Penzey: Captain Boycott

It's very odd that Bill Penzey has been drawing attention to boycotts, since usually he whines about being victimized by the process. He keeps talking about "Captain Boycott" and his birthday on March 12.

Here's a portion of Penzey's email from March 9:

And [don't forget] Captain Boycott’s birthday this Monday, March 12. History has its lessons and it's looking more and more like we are on the way to relearning one of them. But it's a good one. In the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and in the incredible bravery of its students since, there is hope that we may well be once again arriving at a time where those in charge come to see at whose will they serve. Older generations have inexplicably looked the other way as the same industries time and again have used unlimited political spending and lobbying to make windfall profits off the destruction of the public good. These kids are having none of this. Thank goodness for them.

Now is the time to support this new generation and join with them in taking on those corporations that are anything but good citizens, and the politicians who willingly accept their payments. Please let them know you admire their strength to walk out this coming Wednesday the 14th at 10:00am for 17 minutes in remembrance of those lives taken one month before. And if possible, march with them March 24 in Washington and in cities across the country. Now's the time to turn the tide. Help them seize the opportunity.

On March 12, Penzey was still yapping about Boycott, repeating some of his previous email:

And today is Captain Boycott’s 186th birthday which may go unnoticed by most, but is well worth taking note of. Just like in his time, we've once again arrived at a point where those in power are not there through the will of the people for the good of the people, but through the influence of privilege, money, corruption and quite possibly collusion for what appears to be no good at all. But what history shows us is that, just like in Captain Boycott’s time then, the power that can seem so firmly held can quite suddenly be exposed for nothing more than an illusion.

In the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and in the incredible bravery of its students since, we may well be at the same turning point that has carried Captain Boycott’s name on through history. Where so many in previous generations were brought up to believe that corporations, lobbyists, and politicians should not be held responsible for the impact of their actions, these kids are having none of this. If history is any indicator, what's coming next will be very interesting.

What looks fairly certain thanks to these young people, is that for any organization that profits from damaging the public good through the use of their campaign contributions and lobbying, these next few years will be very different from the last. Now is the time for us all to support this new generation.

—Thanks.

bill@penzeys.com
So, he encourages boycotts and stripping Republicans of influence because "those in power are not there through the will of the people for the good of the people, but through the influence of privilege, money, corruption and quite possibly collusion for what appears to be no good at all."

They most certainly are there because of the will of the people. Trump is president because the forgotten men and women of the country elected him to serve. And many of us couldn't bear the thought of Hillary as president of the United States.

Penzey falsely claims the will of the people wasn't expressed in the 2016 election. Clueless.

In the latter email, Penzey addresses "those wanting to boycott us."

He pleads for business because some customers have abandoned him due to his incessant politicking.

So, boycotts are noble if they don't impact him.

Spoken like a true believer Leftist.

National School Walkout

Students in Wisconsin, along with students across the country, will be participating in the National School Walkout this Wednesday, March 14.

From TIME:

March 14, 2018: National School Walkout

The Women’s March’s Youth EMPOWER group is planning a national school walkout on March 14, 2018, according to the group’s website. At 10 a.m. in every time zone, organizers are encouraging teachers, students, administrators, parents and allies to walk out for 17 minutes — one for every person killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

In many cases, this walkout is a school-sanctioned event. It's not a protest. It's not even a student-generated movement.

A protest that's orchestrated by staff and faculty isn't much of a student protest.

Want to really protest? Want to do something that really challenges the school's tolerance of free speech?

Stand up and PRAY in class, PRAY for those killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, Florida.

Of course, disrupting class in such a manner isn't acceptable behavior. It's against the rules. A student would likely be punished for that disruption. Yes, that would be a protest. Civil disobedience.

Such a protest is not bankrolled by millions of dollars. It wouldn't be propped up by media and celebrities.

The National School Walkout is an exercise in conformity. The students aren't exercising their personal power in any way. They aren't challenging authority. They're simply doing what the faculty and district and a network of Leftist media and celebrities endorse.

It's not a protest. This is about trashing Republicans and gun owners. It's a political stunt meant to serve Democrats and the Leftist agenda. Let's be very clear about that.

Kyle Kashuv in D.C.

So do we want our schools to be safer or not?

Kyle Kashuv appears to be genuinely interested in making that happen. Some, however, seem to have a different agenda.

CAMERON KASKY: I mean this sincerely, I really do. To all of the generations before us, we sincerely accept your apology. We appreciate that you are willing to let us rebuild the world that you f---ed up.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that Kyle Kashuv didn't talk like that when he met with our president, senators, and representatives.

Remember, Fallon's show is apolitical.

Jimmy Fallon: NRA and United Airlines Joke

JIMMY FALLON: As I mentioned earlier, several businesses have cancelled their partnership with the NRA over the past week, including United Airlines. You know you messed up when the company that dragged the guy off the plane is like, 'You're making us look bad.'

Jimmy Fallon: NRA Boycott Joke

JIMMY FALLON: With the Olympics over, 90 countries have departed South Korea. Yup, 90 groups waving goodbye, or as the NRA calls those, sponsors.

Boycott NRA to Save Children

Are Leftists really interested in keeping children safe from gun violence in school?

Do they really want to save lives?

Will organizing boycotts against the NRA stop the next killer?

David Hogg - Grieving

Everyone grieves differently.

When I've experienced trauma and loss, when I've been grieving, I didn't go on TV. I didn't organize boycotts.

Again, everyone grieves differently; but it's hard to look at this targeting of the NRA, the extreme politicization of the tragedy, and the demonization of supporters of the 2nd Amendment, so soon after the horrific shooting and not see exploitation of the crisis.

Have the shooting survivors lashed out at Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and Deputy Sheriff Scot Peterson and all the FBI agents responsible for screwing up so royally, resulting in the deaths of classmates? Are they attacking these officials for failing them?

I'm sure some are, but certainly not "celebrity" David Hogg.

This is all so disturbing.

I've never seen children grieve like this.

What's most troubling is that bloviating will accomplish nothing.

Are we interested in keeping kids at schools safe?

If we are, we can do that.

Schools and churches are soft targets. We all know that. Killers know that. Until schools and churches are no longer soft targets, nothing will change. Students and churchgoers are in danger.

Demand that FedEx sever ties with the NRA? Demanding that airlines and car rental companies quit giving discounts to NRA members?

That's going to keep kids safe in their schools?

Really?

If we want to solve the problem, let's solve it.

Laws aren't the solution. What Nikolas Cruz did was against the law.
