The Greg Gutfeld Show Moves to Weeknights

This is the best news:

FOX NEWS CHANNEL’S HIT LATE NIGHT PROGRAM THE GREG GUTFELD SHOW MOVES TO WEEKNIGHTS AT 11 PM/ET

“FOX News @ Night” Shifts to Weeknights at Midnight/ET

NEW YORK – February 10, 2021 — FOX News Channel’s (FNC) hit primetime Saturday talk show The Greg Gutfeld Show hosted by Greg Gutfeld will expand to a full weeknight schedule, announced FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott. The program will launch in the second quarter of 2021 and air weeknights at 11 PM/ET, followed by FOX News @ Night, which will move to 12 AM/ET, increasing the hours of live and original programming on FNC to 21 per weekday. A replacement primetime weekend program for Gutfeld’s 10PM/ET Saturday evening show will be announced at a later date.

In making the announcement, Ms. Scott said, “People need a reason to laugh. Greg’s unique and irreverent talk show has been an incredible success, often beating the late night broadcast competition, despite its Saturday timeslot. With one of the most loyal and engaged audiences in cable news, we’re thrilled to bring the show to weekday primetime and further solidify Greg’s place among late night television stars.”

Mr. Gutfeld added, “This feels like the perfect next step following the amazing success of the weekend show, which is due in large part to a great staff and a management that lets the show follow its own unique path.  Every day someone comes up to me to ask when are we going nightly, so now that we are,  there will be approximately 3 million people who will claim it’s their idea!”

A comedic hour featuring parodies on current events and signature monologues, The Greg Gutfeld Show has continued to outpace its late night competition since launching in 2015. In 2020, the program delivered its highest rated year on record, and was the most-watched weekend show in the key younger demo in all of cable news (2.5 million Total Viewers; 400,000 in the 25-54 demo). The Greg Gutfeld Show also surpassed various late-night programs airing on broadcast in total viewers, including ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and NBC’s The Tonight Show.

Mr. Gutfeld joined FNC in 2007 and has served as one of the co-hosts of The Five since the program launched nearly ten years ago and will continue in his role there as well. Featuring a robust conversation on the leading issues and news stories of the day, The Five consistently  ranks among the highest rated programs in all of cable news averaging 3.7 million viewers and 600,000 in the 25-54 demo in 2020. The Five also ranked third in total viewers in cable news overall in 2020, making it the only non-primetime program to rank in the top five, and delivered its highest-rated year in program history.

A libertarian political satirist, humorist, magazine editor and blogger, Mr. Gutfeld has been called “outrageous and outspoken,” neither of which he denies. Prior to joining FNC, Mr. Gutfeld was the editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine. He later became editor-in-chief of Stuff, where he increased circulation from 750,000 to 1.2 million and created controversy month after month and also helmed Maxim magazine in the UK.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Gutfeld holds a B.A. in English. He has authored five New York Times bestselling books including the latest, “The Plus: Self-Help for People Who Hate Self-Help.” He also maintains his own site, The Gutter, where he writes about the news and pop culture of the day, from a conservative libertarian humorous slant.

I've been a fan of Greg Gutfeld since Red Eye first aired on FOX News Channel.

I'm a regular viewer of Gutfeld's Saturday night show and celebrate its addition to the weeknight schedule. Regulars Tyrus and Kat Timpf and the guests make for an entertaining hour.

Finally, viewers left without a late night comedy program since the broadcast network offerings became fully engulfed in the mockery of Trump and his tens of millions of supporters now have an option that won't insult them.

On his Saturday show, Gutfeld has featured segments with Tom Shillue's hilarious Adam Schiff and Joe Biden impressions, as well as Kat Timpf's Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi. I hope to see them on the weeknight show.

It's great that Gutfeld will be facing off with Kimmel, Colbert, and Fallon. Late night TV has been a vast, Leftist wasteland of hate for too long.

Gutfeld will bring topical humor and insight to late night TV that won't mock, smear, and dehumanize viewers with conservative leanings.

Comedy returns!

Red Eye - Last Show

Ten years ago, Red Eye brightened the late, late night TV landscape.

It ended on Friday. The show's cancellation was incredibly abrupt. In an era of year-long retirement goodbyes (Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jon Stewart) and endlessly hyped final seasons of long-running shows, this was a sort of cruel move by FOX News. It's as if they didn't want to deal with the response from Red Eye fans.

I guess it's fitting. The show came out of nowhere and it leaves the same way.

Nothing can replace Red Eye.

This is awful!

I was there at the very beginning and I'll be there at the end.

Greg Gutfeld: Remembering Andrew Breitbart

Marking the fifth anniversary of Andrew Breitbart's death, Greg Gutfeld wrote a piece explaining and honoring his friend.

I keep Andrew's quotation from his CPAC 2012 speech permanently posted on the sidebar of this blog.

"Everything has changed, everything has changed in the last few years. Conservatives used to take it and we're not taking it anymore."
I loved watching him on Red Eye and enjoyed his other appearances. He was a warrior, but he was fun. I just found him so likable.

It bothers me that many on the Left and the Right have turned the name "Breitbart" into a synonym for racism, hate, intolerance, and overall idiocy. They say it with a sneer. They consider "Breitbart" synonymous with crap. It's offensive. In discussions, whenever someone degrades "Breitbart," I always remind them to think about Andrew Breitbart and note that distinction.

Read Gutfeld's piece on Breitbart.

Excerpts:
Say what you will about how A.B. felt about Trump's politics, but Andrew predicted this new kind of Republican. His most famous quote? “Politics is downstream from culture.” Meaning, to win in politics, you have to win the culture. Trump is the first Republican to exemplify this equation. Born and bred in the restless impatience of modern culture and eschewing the stuffy moralism of conservative ideology and the politically correct paralysis of the left, he fulfilled what Andrew saw coming: a path free from the tricks played upon the right for so long. Sure, Trump was rude, offensive and sloppy — but so was America. And like America, he was tired of the PC BS.

Andrew was Trump before Trump. Wherever Andrew spoke, crowds formed. He could talk for hours on just about anything. He fell in love with the masses who were looking for a new direction. Sound familiar?

There are disagreements over where Andrew might have stood on Trump, but I know he would have relished the implosion of pernicious tribal politics. Andrew was a conservative, but he hated litmus tests and ideas tethered to precious books. He just wanted to expose the lie of leftism. Trump wouldn't have found his footing in such ground if Andrew hadn’t begun sowing that turf a decade before.

Where would Andrew stand on the internal conflicts among Republicans over Trump? Would it matter that The Donald was neither ideological nor predictably conservative? Would Andrew be suspicious of Trump’s autocratic outbursts, impulsiveness and disdain for critics? Or would he embrace Trump not just as a natural ally, but as the first real candidate in a post-ideological world? I don't know, but he'd be enjoying every minute of it.

...Before Andrew, the right settled for being out of step and outraged. We were offended by a changing culture instead of figuring out how to own it, and we took on the demeanor of the picked-upon nerd, screaming "it's not fair" to the liberal media that constantly degraded conservatives.

Andrew changed that. His goal wasn't simply to make conservatism cool (trying to do that, in itself, is not cool), but to expose how uncool the other side was.

...So, what about now … 2017, the era of Trump? I think Andrew would have found him vastly entertaining, while being cognizant of his impulsiveness. He would struggle with Trump the way so many of us have. But, ultimately, he would see Trump as darkly humorous, important and preferable to the Democratic alternative. At least Trump is real, and more vital. At least Trump has finally opened the door to fight back against those who, for decades, reveled in attacking us.

...The beauty of 2016 is that nothing that used to work for the left works anymore. It's done. The name-calling, the smearing — now, our collective response to such attacks, borrowed from Andrew's own arsenal of rebuttals, is, "So?"
Yes.

Thank you, Greg Gutfeld.

I understand why Greg comes to the conclusions he does regarding Andrew's probable view of politics today because Andrew said it himself on February 10, 2012.

ANDREW BREITBART: You want a unity speech? I'll give you a unity speech. I don't care who our candidate is, and I haven't since the beginning of this. I haven't.

Ask not what the candidate can do for you, ask what you can do for the candidate. And that's what the Tea Party is. We are there to confront them on behalf of our candidate.

I will march behind whoever our candidate is because if we don't we lose.

There are two paths, there are two paths. One is America, and the other one is Occupy. One is America, the other one is Occupy. And I don't care, along the way, along the way, along the way - and I'm not a candidate, I'm never going to be a candidate. I'm just a goofball from Los Angeles who wears goofy shoes; promised people I would shave, didn't; promised to take a shower, I got too caught up talking to everybody.

And here I am, kind of a mess, but kind of excited to be here, because over the last three years I've realized that the Republican Party and the Conservative movement is not what ABC and CBS puts on the screen. They try to portray you in the worst possible light.

And when I walk through CPAC, or a I travel the United States to meet people in the Tea Party who care, black, white, gay, and straight, anyone that's willing to stand next to me to fight the progressive Left, I will be in that bunker. And if you're not in that bunker because you're not satisfied with this candidate, more than shame on you. You're on the other side.

Breitbart rallied people to take on the progressive Left. He urged people not to accept the Leftist media calling them racist and degrading them. He demanded the Leftist media be held accountable. He promised to do it and encouraged everyone to do it.

ANDREW BREITBART: We're watching you to play the race card, MSNBC...call everyone who's Caucasian a racist.... No more. 'He's a racist.' That's a dog whistle.... No more.

We're going to go after you. I bought a dog whistle. I bought a dog whistle factory and I'm giving you dog whistles. And we're going to listen to every word that comes out of your mouth, and we're going to hold you to the same standard that you hold us, which is an impossible one. And you're going to have a hell of a time in 2012 because America has finally awakened to your Saul Alinsky bullshit tactics. And we're coming to get you.

"Everything has changed, everything has changed in the last few years. Conservatives used to take it and we're not taking it anymore."

Thank you, thank you, Andrew Breitbart.

Neil M.Gorsuch - SCOTUS Nominee

The Federalist, known colloquially and more commonly as The Fed, is a tabloid-sized (as opposed to broadsheet) newspaper published every three weeks at Columbia University in New York City. Founded in 1986 by Neil M. Gorsuch, Andrew Levy and P.T. Waters, the paper has undergone many changes in mission, style, form, and success, though it has experienced relatively few interruptions in production since the publication of its first issues.

Ratings: 'Red Eye' Trounces Leftists

Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld airs in the wee small hours of the morning, 3:00 AM Eastern.

In spite of that time slot, it leaves a slew of other cable offerings in the dust.

From Deadline, via Big Hollywood:

The talk show hosted by Greg Gutfeld averaged the largest audience in its five-year history (446,000) as well as 177,000 in adults 25-54. In the demo, it edged Piers Morgan (176,000) at 9 PM as well as a slew of other cable news programs in way more trafficked time slots: CNN’s Erin Burnett Outfront (146,000) at 7 PM, MSNBC’s Morning Joe (141,000) from 6-9 AM, MSNBC’s Hardball With Chris Matthews (163,000) at 5 PM and 7 PM, HLN’s Nancy Grace (157,000) at 8 PM, and CNN’s John King USA (121,000) at 6 PM.

How humiliating for MSNBC and CNN!

Congratulations, Greg Gutfeld, Bill Schulz, Andy Levy, and all the Red Eye gang!

Gutfeld: 'Anger is a Right'

Greg Gutfeld explains that Americans have a right to be angry, even though we're being told it's wrong and racist to express our opposition to the health care law, the "Big F---ing Deal."

Don't be bullied into submission and silence by the Obama regime, Obama's Democrat comrades, and his assorted Leftist allies.

Gutfeld writes:

[F]or the media, anger is only okay if its targets meet their stereotypical, romanticized criteria. Meaning: the corporation, the conservative, the daddy who never loved them.

Here’s a list of people doing angry things the media is okay with:

-People calling Bush a Nazi
-Students and non students rioting on college campuses
-Animal rights freaks dousing rich folks with paint
-Actors wishing average folks would get rectal cancer
-Bureaucrats labeling military vets as potential violent right wing extremists
-Radical environmentalists advocating violence against loggers
-Pranksters throwing pies at conservative commentators (you know, somehow they never pie Michael Moore, which makes him sad; he likes pie)

But this health care bill anger is different from all that – not just because it’s right, but because it involves Obama. And being angry at Obama is like being mad at Santa Claus. How can you be mad at Santa, when he brings us so many gifts?

And so, this anger is scary! It’s a mark of incivility! It’s deadly!

But you have a right to be angry. Unlike the entitlements we’re saddled with until death, being angry is free and actually works! But we need to define why we’re angry – instead of letting our adversaries do it for us.

We are angry not because we lost, but that we lost to losers. I’m not talking about Obama, or the Dems. They’re winners, sadly. I’m talking about progressivism. The reason why I’m angry, my friends are angry, and my imaginary unicorn Captain Sparkles is angry – is because the greatest, most winningest country in the history of the world, just embraced the loser’s doctrine.

For two hundred plus years we’ve kicked ass, and we’re now choosing the belief system of the idiots whose asses we’ve kicked.

So that’s why I’m angry. And why you’re angry too.

Well said.
