Another Milwaukee kid is shot by a stray bullet.
Same old, same old.
Don't be alarmed.
From The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
A 16-year-old girl in her home was hit a stray bullet that came from the street last night, Milwaukee police said today.
The girl remains in good condition today following the shooting that occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of N. 39th St. Police are still seeking a suspect.
The shooting was one of two that occurred overnight.
No big deal.
The girl is in good condition.
No need to break out the candles for a vigil.
That stray bullet could have killed her or someone else in the house, but everything is OK.
No problem.
I don't know which is more disturbing -- the fact that another bystander was shot or the fact that there's a thug culture that enables the shooters.
Four-year-old "bystander" Jasmine Owens was shot dead in May. The street was crowded with people at the time. Nonetheless, no one has come forward with information to help authorities get her killer.
It's a disgrace.
The thugs are scum. That's a given.
But the people who know something, anything, and let the thugs get away with murder have blood on their hands, too.
The relatives and friends who protect the thugs are complicit, maybe not legally but certainly morally.
In a way, I'm more disgusted with them for their silence.
I'm more disgusted with the city's leaders intent on blaming the guns and the bullets rather than the city's dysfunctional population.
Why?
The thugs aren't going to change. They're hopeless.
I certainly don't expect change to come from the supporters of thug alderman Michael McGee Jr.
I don't look to Milwaukee's pathetic NAACP chapter for leadership.
The only people capable of bringing about change are the ones refusing to aid police or the leaders worrying about the next election.
That would include you, Tom Barrett.
I suppose you wouldn't want to say anything that would alienate voters, especially the felons.
