MPS Cancels School Again

It's going to be a long weekend for students and staff of the Milwaukee Public Schools.

Thursday off. Friday off. Monday off, because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

MPS cancels school again tomorrow because of cold

Milwaukee Public Schools will be closed again tomorrow because of the continuing cold, spokeswoman Roseann St. Aubin said this afternoon.

Generally, when MPS closes, numerous other schools, including private schools in the metropolitan area, follow suit.

...The forecast for tomorrow is not much different than it was today, when the large majority of schools in the metropolitan area closed out of concern for the safety of children as they came and went from school.

Yeah, it's cold, but it's not that bad.
___________

CORRECTION: It is really bad. It's so, so cold. It's miserable, BUT it's certainly not impossible to get from Point A to Point B safely.

However, since so many parents seem incapable of dressing their children properly for the extreme conditions, it's best to close the schools.

Gotta break with you on this one. It's dangerous cold. With many kids waiting for a bus, including my daughter, and some that walk, the risk of exposure is great. I suppose you could require that in situations like this that kids be brought to school. But then I wonder how many would show up.

I'm the first to ridicule MPS when they close for the threat of a few inches of snow. But, in this extreme cold weather, I'm glad they don't risk it.
