Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Glenn Beck, and Amtrak

UPDATE, May 20, 2009: "Glenn Beck on 'The View': You're a Lying Sack of Dog Mess"

Discussion thread on Democratic Underground: "Wow, Glenn Beck is being HAMMERED on The View...."

Video of the ambush.

Transcript here.

Amtrak treats Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, and Steve Kroft like very special people.

Glenn Beck recounts the story of taking the train to the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.

Video.

Amtrak's general policy allows Acela passengers to reserve a guaranteed seat in a specific class of service (First, Business, Coach) -- but you are not assigned a specific seat in that class.

Unless you're Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, and Steve Kroft.

He just admitted on The View that this was a lie.

Your statement is way too sweeping.

He didn't admit the story about the special Amtrak treatment was a lie.

Beck only admitted that Walters did not approach him. He initiated the conversation.

Watch closely and you will see (near the end) Glenn attempting to explain that he assumed the seats were reserved when an Amtrak employee mentioned that they would all be excited to see who was coming and then Barbara/Whoopi sat in the open seat. In other words, his radio show version where his party was refused access to a particular seat was a fabrication.

Glenn Beck was telling the truth and Whoopi an Barbara couldn't handle it. They tried to discredit one part of it, so therefore we are supposed to believe that none of it is true.

And why is Whoopi Goldberg, the person who is always pushing for everyone to "be who they are," saying she often dislikes people because they have a different view than her. Hmmm, if someone else did that they would be closed-minded homophobes, racists, or whatever.

Oh wow, I can't believe the last comment.

Beck admitted on that show that he is not responsible for telling the truth to the public. He was shown video of the lie and admitted he did it.

On Beck's website he says he was "ambushed." On the show he said he was expecting it. Which is it? An ambush is a surprise attack, what he got was a confrontation. He can't even keep his lies about his lies straight.

Leading up to Wednesday's interview on The View, Beck was whining the day before to his on-air alter-ego, Stu, for most of his radio program how he was dreading his upcoming appearance on the TV show, like it was going to his execution. Beck then went on to spin his yarn about the Amtrak incident and went into his inaccurate description of what really happened, losing himself in his own story. If he felt Wednesday's interview was going to be an ambush, he didn't need to accept the invitation, especially since the morning following the disaster, he was sniveling on his radio program about being so sick and that he was never treated so poorly before. Please... This man is a self-promoting, obnoxious pitch man and has no problem making his mouth work. He was caught in a lie and Walters and Goldberg were not going to let him off the hook so easily. Walters latched onto something else when she asked Beck what his convictions were. His answer was not too believable and she saw through it. On Thursday's radio broadcast, Beck spent nearly the entire show dissing Walters and made a series of disparaging remarks about her. At least this woman has some credibility in a long career that was earned by reporting facts. While Beck defines himself as a "commentator", his remarks are typically characterized by distortions and emotional impulses. Despite an avowal that his criticisms are not about "right or left, Republican or Democrat", this is a lot of bunk since his targets are consistently Democrats or liberals. Maybe on Wednesday Beck was able to feel for a fleeting moment what he does to his call in audience when he plays "Moron Trivia" and they are the unsuspecting butt of his malicious mockery. Cry me a river.

I find it very interesting that the accusation against Glenn Beck (being a liar) is actually wrong. Glenn never said anything about anyone approaching anyone first. All he said was "Barbara said to me, ah... Glenn Beck ... " The view decided to spawn that into "Barbara approached me". Really?

Second - if anything, the View LIED! If you go to Breitbart TV you will see that the seats WERE INDEED RESERVED!! Barbara and Woopie lied about not reserving the seats.

So where's the apology from the View? Oh, sorry, no apology because they can't admit when they're wrong. Although Glenn looked beyond that and apologized ANYWAY even though he was RIGHT!

So what does the View do? They remove any comments on their website regarding this topic where people have showed them that the View was WRONG and Glenn Beck was RIGHT!

Just so no one is confused, the contestants on Moron Trivia are not callers to the show. They are called by the show. Listeners to the show would be able to answer the questions and that is the point.
