Juneteenth Day, Milwaukee - 54 Arrested

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, there were 54 arrests and 2 handguns were confiscated at Milwaukee's Juneteenth Day celebration.

Fifty-four people - 35 adults and 19 juveniles - were arrested at Milwaukee's Juneteenth Day celebration Tuesday, police said.

Most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct and two handguns were confiscated, according to police.

Milwaukee's Juneteenth Day celebration this year could have been worse. Past festivals have been marked by horrific beatings and violence.

The Juneteenth Day violence brought Milwaukee national attention.

So, I suppose only 54 arrests and 2 handguns being confiscated can be considered a "peaceful" festival, relatively speaking.

That's pretty sad.

The bar is set pretty low if 54 arrests and 2 handguns constitute good news.
