Tim Carpenter Attacked, Rioters Damage Capitol

Fury exploded outside the Wisconsin State Capitol on Tuesday night as protesters smashed windows at the statehouse, attacked a state senator, and tore down two iconic statues — including one of an abolitionist who died trying to end slavery during the Civil War.

The unrest began earlier Tuesday following the arrest of a Black man who was arrested after bringing a megaphone and a baseball bat into a Capitol square restaurant.

...During the melee late Tuesday, Democratic state Sen. Tim Carpenter was assaulted after taking a photo of protesters.

"I don't know what happened ... all I did was stop and take a picture ... and the next thing I'm getting five-six punches, getting kicked in the head," Carpenter told a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter following the assault.

Following the attack, Carpenter collapsed, WKOW-TV reported. The station's crew called an ambulance. No further information about the incident, possible arrests or Carpenter's condition was immediately available.

Protesters pulled down the Forward statue that normally stands outside the State Capitol and left it lying in the middle of the road.

The same group also tore down the Col. Hans Christian Heg statue a short time later. The group then went on to throw the statue into Lake Monona. Heg fought for the Union during the Civil War and was a stark opponent of slavery during that time.

Good grief. These anarchists clearly have no sense whatsoever of history.

They hate the country and want to overthrow the government.

This has nothing to do with George Floyd.

They hate America.

What will Democrat Gov. Tony Evers do about this assault and destruction of public property? He threw his weight around when outlawing sleepovers, play dates, and dinner parties. How will he react to this lawlessness?

The thugs should be arrested and held accountable for their crimes.
