I thought it was staged.
I thought the bleeped angry words and weird cuts in the video were staged. I thought it was an attempt to generate interest in the Oscars because the show is insufferable. And certainly, if someone really just walked up on stage and hit a performer during a live televised broadcast, then security would immediately drag that person out of the venue. Instead, the perpetrator simply takes his seat, and later gives a tearful acceptance speech after being awarded an Oscar. I guess it was real. It definitely was an awful moment.UNCENSORED WILL SMITH FOOTAGE AS SHOWN ON AUSTRALIAN TV pic.twitter.com/NcRfdjWxqe

Here’s the unedited Will Smith slap of Chris Rock. This looks real. They bleeped it all out on the American version. pic.twitter.com/2fIoL05gO8
