Message From Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson

It’s Mayor Cavalier Johnson, and I want to show you exactly where I stand:

Actions that undermine civil rights or public trust have no place in our communities.

What we’re witnessing from federal agents across the country is deeply alarming and raises serious concerns about the violation of people’s constitutional rights—I'm getting calls left and right about it.

Let me be very clear: we have had no indication as of yet that ICE is planning to increase their presence in Milwaukee.

During this anxious time, I’m asking Milwaukee residents to stay calm, stay informed, and look out for one another while exercising their First and Fourth Amendment rights peacefully and lawfully.

But I also want you to know that you are not alone. My administration will continue to stand with you, working everyday to protect your rights, support our community partners, and make sure our city remains a place where everyone can feel safe, respected, and supported.

I’m especially grateful for our partners on the ground—nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and local businesses—who are stepping up for our most vulnerable neighbors right now.

[NAME], our ability to to [sic] come together, care for one another, and rise with courage and compassion in even the most difficult times shows the very best of Milwaukee. Today, will you sign our petition to condemn ICE's aggression?

In service,

Mayor Cavalier Johnson
