U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez is resigning from office Aug. 20 following his conviction for taking bribes for corrupt acts including acting as an agent of the Egyptian government, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Menendez had insisted after the July 16 verdict that he was innocent and promised to appeal. The person who told the AP about Menendez’s resignation did so on the condition of anonymity because the New Jersey Democrat’s decision hadn’t been made public. Menendez’s attorney hasn’t returned messages seeking comment.

Democrat Bob Menendez was convicted of taking bribes and "acting as an agent of the Egyptian government."

That Democrat corruption is a big deal. Of course, the corrupt acts of the Biden Crime Family are a much bigger deal.

Bob Menendez Smears Ron Johnson as Racist

 

Sen. Ron Johnson was on Mark Levin's radio show Wednesday evening.

He stated that his comments were taken out of context. He wasn't speaking about race. He said race never crossed his mind. He was referring to the Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters that caused two billion dollars in damage to American cities, injured hundreds of law enforcement officers, and werer responsible for dozens of deaths.

Johnson in no way excused or condoned the actions of the rioters who breached the Capitol.

He also noted that white people are Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters, making the charge of racism inappropriate in the first place.

It's awful that Johnson is being attacked the way he is by the Democrat Cabal, but we know what they're doing. We've seen it countless times.

Johnson mentioned the Left's reliance on Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.

Some 30 Democratic lawmakers left the government shutdown behind Friday on a chartered flight to Puerto Rico for a winter retreat with 109 lobbyists and corporate executives during which they planned to see the hit Broadway show “Hamilton” and attend three parties including one with the show’s cast.

Those attending the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC winter retreat in San Juan planned to meet with key officials to discuss the cleanup after Hurricane Maria at a roundtable Saturday.

But the weekend is packed with free time for the members and their families on the trip.

...The event is taking place in a seaside resort where rooms go for $429 a night. Food is being provided.

BOLD PAC, the political arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, chartered a 737 for members, their families, and chiefs of staff to attend the weekend. The memo said the weather will be a balmy 80 degrees. The dress code is "resort casual."

A spokesman would not identify the members, but Secrets obtained a list that included several congressional leaders. On the list was Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but an official in her office said that she did not make the trip.

Democrats living the good life.

Bob Menendez Sex Scandal

According to The Daily Caller, Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez from New Jersey did a bad, bad thing.

This is the scandal Drudge was teasing Wednesday night, setting Twitter atwitter with speculation.

Apparently, the Democrat senator paid for sex while in the Dominican Republic.

Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year.

In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.

The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic.

When shown a photograph of Sen. Menendez, the women said they recognized him as the man with whom they’d had sexual relations at Casa de Campo this spring. Both said they were brought to the resort with the understanding they would be paid for sex.

Neither knew the identity of the man at the time. Both claimed to recognize him later as Sen. Menendez.

“He called him[self] ‘Bob,’” said one.

One woman said Menendez wooed her with compliments like “beautiful” before they slept together. The other woman recounted, with apparent bitterness, receiving from an intermediary only $100 of the $500 she had been promised.

“He lies,” she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.”

According to the translator’s summary, Menendez “was nice at first, but then later he did not seem to care about her.”

Menendez, who is 58 and divorced, has represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat since being appointed to fill a vacancy in 2005. He is up for re-election on Nov. 6.

The big question: Are these allegations true?

No surprise, "Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright refused to answer any questions on the subject. 'We're not going to respond to a completely false accusation,' she wrote by email."

Will these revelations help challenger Republican state Sen. Joe Kyrillos?

I doubt it.

Democrats don't mind this sort of stuff, if the allegations are true.

If Menendez did hire prostitutes, and paid less than promised, I don't think his supporters will mind. They're Democrats.

The war of words over the Bush tax cuts heated up Friday, as Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez compared Republicans to "terrorists" for holding middle-class tax cuts "hostage."

The New Jersey senator unleashed on Republicans in the course of a press conference where lawmakers were previewing a pair of votes set for this Saturday on whether to extend some, but not all, of the Bush tax cuts. Republicans who want all the cuts extended, including those for the wealthy, have described these votes as "meaningless" and refuse to support the bills.

Menendez accused the GOP of holding tax cuts for the middle class hostage in order to win tax cuts for the rich.

"It's almost like the question of do you negotiate with terrorists," he said.

What a stupid thing to say!

Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey doesn't seem to understand that one can't be treated like a "second-class citizen" if one isn't a citizen in the first place.

On his radio show yesterday, Mark Levin played a clip of Menendez absolutely embarrassing himself.

I think Menendez does get it. And Obama gets it, too. They all get that ILLEGAL immigrants are not citizens, but that's not how they're framing the debate.

They want to cloud the issue by focusing on ILLEGAL immigration as a civil rights matter rather than the law-breaking.

This isn't about being ANTI-immigration or against civil rights. It's about enforcing the law.

You know, I read the Arizona law and it is just replete with the type of broad descriptions that invite discrimination, that invite racial profiling, that invite violations of constitutional rights and civil rights. It requires officials and agencies to reasonably attempt to determine the immigration status of a person involved in a lawful contact.

Menendez is being so deceptive.

He's playing on people's fears to score political points. It's a disgrace.

According to Kris W. Kobach, the law will NOT require Arizona police officers to stop and question people.

Kobach explains:

The law only kicks in when a police officer already has made a "lawful contact" with a person, such as stopping him for breaking another law. The most likely contact is during the issuance of a speeding ticket. The law does not require the officer to begin questioning a person about his immigration status or to do anything the officer would not otherwise do.

Only after a stop is made, and subsequently the officer develops reasonable suspicion on his own that an immigration law has been violated, is any obligation imposed.

Menendez is a liar. He's a fear monger.

Arizona has NOT become the "show me your papers" state.

Twelve Democratic Senators spent last weekend in Miami Beach raising money from top lobbyists for oil, drug, and other corporate interests that they often decry, according to a guest list for the event obtained by POLITICO.

The guest list for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's "winter retreat" at the Ritz Carlton South Beach Resort doesn't include the price tag for attendance, but the maximum contribution to the committee, typical for such events, is $30,000. There, to participate in "informal conversations" and other meetings Saturday, were senators including DSCC Chairman Robert Menendez; Michigan's Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow; Bob Casey of Pennsylvania; Claire McCaskill of Missouri; freshmen Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mark Begich of Alaska; and even left-leaning Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Across the table was a who's who of 108 senior Washington lobbyists, including the top lobbying officials for many of the industries Democrats regularly attack: Represented were the American Bankers Association, the tobaco company Altria, the oil company Marathon, several drug manufacturers, the defense contractor Lockheed, and most of the large independent lobbying firms: Ogilvy, BGR, Quinn Gillespie, Heather Podesta, and Tony Podesta.
