Let's see if I get this.
Pete Hegseth's wife said he was never physically threatening. Pete has joint custody with his ex-wife over the three children they had together. Courts don't allow joint custody if one of the parents is violent and abusive. And Pete's lawyer said that the woman who signed the affidavit was married to Pete's brother, is a NeverTrumper, and the Hegseth family did not get along with her. Thus, all the facts counter the allegations by the former sister-in-law.
That said, Jack Reed, the Democrat ranking member on the Armed Service Committee, knew this past Saturday to send a letter to this lady, knew to ask her about threats or claims of abuse because he knew what she would attest to, and he demanded an immediate reply just in time to try to delay and ultimately try to kill Hegseth's nomination. Keep in mind, Reed had no authority to demand anything since he is no longer the chair of the committee, and the sister-in-law had no obligation to comply. But she did, just a few days later. And now the headlines.
The Republicans on this committee should be furious with how they are being played and abused by Schumer through Reed and the Democrat members. IMHO, this is an inside job, a set up. The ex-wife denies the allegations, the divorce court ordered joint custody, and the sister-in-law is allegedly a Trump-hater who did not get along with the Hegseth family.
For Schumer, Reed, and the rest of them to play this dirty game, to blow up a family, to humiliate the children, is ENOUGH! The problem is not Hegseth it is the Democrats who are evil and who have run this play too many times. The Republican majority should get to the bottom of what THEY HAVE done and expose them to the American people.

The Democrats are engaged in scandalous, dirty behavior, as usual.
