Debra Bartoshevich

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has given Debra Bartoshevich her walking papers.

NO INDEPENDENT THINKING ALLOWED!

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Leaders of Wisconsin's Democratic Party today unanimously took away a delegate seat at the Democratic National Convention from a Racine-area party leader who had promised to vote for Republican Sen. John McCain instead of Sen. Barack Obama.

Debra Bartoshevich of Waterford had supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination for president over Obama and said in June that she would not support the Illinois senator.

Her declaration embarrassed and surprised state party leaders and delegates to the state Democratic Party convention, which passed a resolution asking that her delegate credentials to the national convention in Denver be revoked. National Democratic Party officials said Wisconsin party leaders should judge one of their own, however.

Today in a conference call, a majority of the state Democratic Party's Administrative Committee voted to replace Bartoshevich with another party leader from the 1st Congressional District. Marilyn Nemeth, a retired educator and former board member of the Wisconsin Education Association Council, will replace Bartoshevich.

Party official Jason Rae said he and other Democrats filed the challenge because Bartoshevich had violated rules that require all national convention delegates to support the Democratic nominee for president.

Obviously, the Dems' big tent is very exclusive.

Bartoshevich wanted to go to the national convention and vote for Hillary, but that's not acceptable.

Get in lockstep or get out.

Wisconsin Dems have punished Bartoshevich for uttering the unspeakable, that she would vote for John McCain in November.

NO CONVENTION FOR YOU!

"I didn't run to the McCain campaign; they called me," she said. She said her sister put her name on the McCain campaign Web site.

But Democratic veteran Dottie LeClaire of Appleton told Bartoshevich: "You reached right back and hugged them. I have a problem with that."

America -- It's a free a country.

The Democrat Party -- Check your brain at the door.

What self respecting woman would vote for McCain, who wants to outlaw birth control pills?

The rules is to support your party, not catch a hissy fit because the person that you wanted to win didn't.

If you ask me, Debra's SEXIST.

Like McCain on the surge you got the facts and history wrong. She was ousted because she planned to vote for John McCain and said so.

Truth and facts are what we should demand from all of our candidates.

The Dems want Obama and they're willing to kick out anybody who disagrees. What's Fidel Castro's party called? I think the Dems got ahold of his rule book!

I think Wisconsin's Dem party comes off looking bad.

The rules seem pretty lame to me.

Anyway, I thought the Dems were pro-choice.

Not having her at the convention is the Democrat's prerogative, just like it would be for the Republicans. Do you honestly expect that a Republican who promised to vote for Obama would be sent to their convention?

This blog looks completely laughable, by the way. I feel a profound amount of pity for anyone who displays quotes of George W. Bush talking about "justice". Lemme guess, your parents are both Right-wingers?

Good Lord, why must you resort to such personal attacks?

I believe that such personal attacks are indicative of intelletual impotence or poor manners or both.

well the democrates took away the voice of the people and gave it to super delegates and now taking their vote away. there are a few 'chosen ones' that think that what they want is of more value and special. the democrates are a washed up party, at least for this year. Senator Bartoshevick is not alone. many democrates are switching to republician. you can bet their vote matters to them! There are about five ammendments giving the power to vote to THE PEOPLE not just a few.

Debra Bartoshevich is a nurse and mother of two children.

She's not a senator.

It's sad that the democratic party cannot tolerate independent thought. We saw this when the DNC took away the people's voice in Florida and Michigan too because they dared to disagree. What happened to the JFK democrats? Now it seems they're all Marxist democrats. I'm with Debra-- I'll vote McCain

I was for Obama until I learned he opposed the Born Alive Protection act... he opposed saving babies who survived a late term abortion.. babies that had a heart beat and were breathing on their own -- Obama said they should die. That carries freedom of choice a bit far don't you think?

Mary said...

Yes, Obama's views on abortion can't get more extreme.

There is something wrong with a person who considers it acceptable to kill a baby who managed to survive a doctor's attempt to kill it.

A baby is born alive because an abortion was botched, and Obama is unwilling to protect that child.

It's sick.

Obama is a far left Democrat, truly an extremist. I'm sure there are many Democrats who aren't comfortable with Obama.

I don't think it's wise for Wisconsin's Democratic party to punish Bartoshevich. It's as though the party is going out of its way to alienate Hillary supporters.

You forgot this part of the story, from the Journal Sentinel...

"At the state Democratic Party convention, party members, including Clinton supporters, unanimously passed a resolution asking the national party not to seat Bartoshevich at the Denver convention.

Another pledged Clinton delegate, Paula Dorsey of Milwaukee, offered the resolution."

Mary said...

Of course some, probably most, of Hillary's supporters are on board with Obama. That's no surprise.

Just because a former Hillary supporter offered the resolution that doesn't mean it was a good resolution.

Actually, I think it's an embarrassment that the Dems unanimously voted for a resolution to not seat Bartoshevich.

I think that it was a smart move for the democratic party to alienate Ms. Bartoshevich. Good for the Republican's that is! The fight for the democratic seat between Hillary & Barack was so heated you just knew that there was going to be hurt feelings. Rather than understand what she said was a result of passionate disappointment as well as hurt (some nasty things were said about Hillary, after all) the democratic party decided to make an example of her. How many other disappointed supporters of Hillary do you think there are out there? Instead of the dem party reaching out to them they (Hillary's supporters) now know the depth of distain their party feels for them.
Ms. Bartoshevich and those like her have no place to go now except to McCain. Truth be told, McCain is probably the best choice for the US right now. He is the closest thing to a moderate that anyone has. The right isn't wild about him, nor is the left. The right and the left have hold of each others jugular vein though and neither side will give. We are destroying ourselves and our country from the inside and making ourselves weak to our enemies. Maybe we need a little time to let go and breathe, thus allowing a little oxygen to get to our brains before we are all wearing burkas!

I believe the reason most do not understand why she was booted also have never taken part in the party process and have been bystanders and not participants in elections past. You only get to want someone to win a party primaty and you support that person until they win or loose. If they loose you are obliged as a party member to support the nominee of the party or get out of the party. It is that simple. Nothing more nothing less. Nothing new and certainly nothing different since parties were formed.

Mary said...

Don, I think the Debra Bartoshevich case has shed light on the Democrats and their rules.

If you don't tow the party line, get out.

We saw what the Democrats did to Joe Lieberman.

This isn't about the nature of party politics. It's another instance of the heavy-handedness of the Democrats.

I LOVE IT!!.....I love it.....simple as that.....

I have nothing but total admiration and respect for Debra.........

She, as well as other White women, that are starting to think with 'this' style of mindset, is putting the hope BACK into my heart!!........

I was depressed, oppressed, repressed.....all in the name of White women, the most beautiful creatures on earth, thinking like 'jezebel' on a Saturday night......

but now......I keep hearing this talk everywhere I go.....the 'roots' coming back.....

the 'black experience'.........like drugs......something 'new' to the country, like meth, heroin, etc.....well, weve tried it.......it sux....we're through with it....

I keep hearing White men starting to say whats on their mind also.......whats been festering for years....boiling....just never being to say it.....never being able to do anything about it because of the laws that protect them like theyre the 'protected-class'.......

Im hearing.....and seeing......and standing....

By the way.......I love it when a democrat comes to the side of logic........instead of the side of 'emotion'.....which thats what the liberal fringe and lowly I.Q.ed democrats do.....let their emotions over-rule logic..........

I love it......and when all of you democrats come to my side of the fence which is the right wing mindset (not republican.....but conservative and libertarian).......youll be such a happier person.............because you wont have to live the lie that you have been your life so far.....to attempt to 'fit-in' to the 'new' society, the fringe.....the old hippie generation on steroids....and NOT be called a (RACIST!!).....the most dreaded word for a White person to hear.........

and a good weapon to use towards us.....and you blacks know it.......and have been doing it for years........

but White folks are, and have, gotten hip to your game.......

AND THATS WHEN THE TIDES TURN.....

Ecclesiates 3:3

Let the games begin!!.......

And Im not Anonymous..........Frank in Ga.

What's this "white women" stuff?

I certainly have no right to speak for Debra, but I was not under the impression that her dissatisfaction with Obama had anything to do with race.

I don't think you're for real, "Frank."

OMG the Dems don't want to let a traitor in who already said she was voting for the other side. She is NOT a democrat. She is a sore loser. She obviously is not very bright and doesn't understand the issues, if she really was a Hillary supporter she wouldn't be voting for McCain. She's another dumb broad who only wanted a women in, didn't care who, and now is crying and complaining.

I would spit on her if I saw her, and i have NEVER felt this way about anyone before.

People like Debra Bartoshevich are traitors to the Democrate ideas. They would sacrafice our country economy, the education of all the childern, they would add more to the debt for the childern to pay, and have them sent to more wars, as well as have Roe vs Wade over turned just because Clinton lost?

She lost the delegate vote even if FL and MI were in full count. All of us that were Obama supporters would of backed Clinton if she won, so why can't they for us? They would rather this country burn what is the most selfish thing I have ever seen in politics.

That's disgusting.

Debra is at the Democratic Convention - I just saw her on TV. The Republician Party paid her way there. She is such a winer! Just because Hillary did not win she has to go support McCain. Hillary not winning could easily be blamed on Bill Clinton. What a sexist person - get over it!

An action like this and bitterness from clinton voters plays into the stereotype men have of some women.
