Battleground Wisconsin

What happened?

Barack Obama's commanding lead in Wisconsin is gone. Poof!

The race between John McCain and Obama is now a statistical dead heat.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

The first public poll in a month shows a tight race presidential race in Wisconsin.

Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain 46% to 43% in a survey taken last Friday through Sunday by Strategic Vision.

That's not much different from when the firm last polled, one month ago, and Obama led 47% to 42%. Since then, both Obama and McCain have chosen running mates and had their conventions.

...Strategic Vision surveyed 800 likely voters; the results, which can be found here, have a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points.

I think it's worth noting that it wasn't long ago that Obama had a double digit lead in Wisconsin. It was in June.
In the first Wisconsin survey since his Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton bowed out, Obama leads Republican John McCain by double digits, outpolls McCain among independents and benefits from an election landscape that is extremely harsh for the GOP.

Likely voters in Wisconsin are overwhelmingly sour about President Bush, the Iraq war and where the country is headed, according to the poll, conducted Sunday to Tuesday by the University of Wisconsin-Madison's political science department and Wispolitics.com.

Obama leads McCain 50% to 37% in the survey of 506 likely voters.

Well, Obama promised change.

He's delivered.
