QUESTION: Why?
Beau Biden didn't really talk about the election. It was a weird interview.
Delaware Online offers a detailed recap of Beau Biden's appearance, a literal play-by-play of the interview.
Currently, the 39-year-old Biden is Delaware's Attorney General. Leno wondered if Biden aspired to higher office.
Leno pointed out that if Barack Obama wins the presidential election, Sen. Joe Biden's senate seat would be vacated.
Towards the end of the Biden's eight-minute Hollywood debut, Leno asked him point-blank whether he would try to fill his father's seat.
"I'm going to sound like a politician here, but I mean this from the bottom of my heart. My life experience is such that any time I look beyond two, three months -- a couple of years -- life intervenes and has a different plan for me," Biden said.
Leno took no time to puncture the rehearsed answer with humor. "That sounds like a yes," Leno said as the audience laughed and Biden shook his head back and forth.
I had no idea there was any speculation about Beau Biden running for Joe Biden's senate seat if, God forbid, Barack Obama is elected president.
Leno was certainly a gracious host. He didn't bring up any of Joe Biden's many gaffes. No jokes about Biden's story of his granddaughters having a sleepover with Barack Obama's daughters.
No mention of Biden saying, "I believe that's a metaphor, a metaphor for what the country is looking for. They're looking for a sleepover with people they like!"
No question about it. Leno is on the Obama-Biden bandwagon.
