Obama Knew

Barack Obama is misleading the American people.

He's isn't telling the truth about the nature of his relationship with Bill Ayers.

DREW GRIFFIN, CNN: Barack Obama confirmed during a primary debate that he knew Ayers, and when pressed, said they served on "a" charitable foundation board together. And Obama condemned Ayers' support of violence. But the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer, and was much more political than Obama said.

Obama's claims that he was unaware that Ayers plotted and carried out violent attacks to overthrow the American government are false.

Obama must own up to the truth.

He's insulting our intelligence.

I expect straight talk. I don't trust him.

That's great that you don't trust Obama - nobody expects you to. But you keep harping on the "Ayers Connection" - which isn't a connection at all. The facts:

In March 1995, Obama became chairman of a board that oversaw the distribution of Annenberg school reform grants in Chicago. Ayers, who was an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, appeared before the board a half dozen times to brief them on school issues, since he was heading an effort to secure some of those grants.

Later in 1995, Ayers hosted a gathering at his house, which is three blocks from Obama's home, at which state Sen. Alice J. Palmer, who planned to run for Congress, introduced Obama to a few Democratic friends as her chosen successor. So the connection there would appear to be between Ayers and Palmer, not Obama.

Obama served on the board of the directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, an anti-poverty group, from 1993 to 2002. Ayers became a member of the board in 1999, and still sits on the board today. The board met approximately 12 times during the two years they were both on the board.

Although Ayers contributed $200 to Obama's re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001, Obama has not had anything to do with Ayers since leaving the board of the Woods Fund.

That hardly constitutes palling around with terrorists.

Of course if we are going to perpetuate scaremongering and misleading partisan talking points, then let's not forget that McCain was an active member of the World Anti-Communist League, an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America, which the Reagan administration used as a front to cover for the illegal funding of the Contras with money raised by selling weapons (again, illegally) to Iran. All of which occurred while McCain was a member.

"My government is my worst enemy. I'm going to fight them with any means at hand." - Joe Vogler, founder of the Alaska Independence Party.

Amazingly enough, in 1993 Vogler appeared before the United Nations to denounce United States "tyranny" before the entire world and to demand Alaska's freedom. He managed this great feat by persuading the government of Iran to sponsor his speech.

Please note that Todd Palin was a member of the AIP for seven years.

Also, note that earlier this year Gov. Palin addressed the AIP convention, stating that she shared the party's "vision" and told AIP members to "keep up the good work."

Your "facts" are wrong.

It's not enough to copy and paste talking points.

They have to be accurate.

That's all, Mary? A little girl attempt to dismiss an in-depth response with the one-line equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and singing?
With all that's wrong today and a month out from the election the big strategy is Bill Ayers? WHOA! A worthless dry well that Hannity has been pumping (along with other things--HA!) for months to no effect? Did you see that "nice lady" Palin whipping what's left of the right wing into an ugly, angry mob about O'Bama? They were shouting "terrorist!" and "kill him!" loud enough for her microphone to pick it up, so you know she heard it, and she did and said nothing.
Oh wait, she smiled.
I suppose you'll all be proud if some lunatic gets insired to do the unthinkable. It must've been what the crowd sounded like when they turned Jesus over to Pilate.
Nice lady. Nice bunch.
Go ahead and write back something snarky, it's what you do. But it can't change the obvious--it's over. And we now get to see what a big chunk of the Republican party has become.
This time with the lights on.

That's never stopped you, Mary.

As you point out, I have written a lot about Obama and Ayers.

I started writing about Ayers back in March.

My posts all have links to my sources.

You posted your rebuttal, your "facts." Fine. I'm not going to post again what I've been writing since March here in this comments section. That's unnecessary.

You demean my response as the actions of a "little girl." Fine.

You call my comments snarky. Fine.

You can't deny that CNN is reporting that "the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer, and was much more political than Obama said."

Watch.

As to the new strategy of playing the race card and deeming Republican rallies as inciting violence against Obama--

That's an indication that the Obama campaign is running scared. Such accusations are ridiculous.

I suppose you'll all be proud if some lunatic gets insired to do the unthinkable.

That's a horrible thing to say. You marginalize yourself when you say things like that.

I do think Mary we're moving the discussion beyond political tit for tat when it starts to involve the personal safety of a man and his family -- to brand Obama a friend of terrorists is really all a loony out there needs. Not someone with deep political convictions but an unstable person who can't see the nuance between "palling around with terrorists" and being a terrorists. we need to check our language.

To the Democrats: "Thou doth protest too much."

Obama needs to tell the truth.

He should at least pick a version he'd like to sell as the truth.

FACT: Ayers is proud to be a terrorist.

You can't just ignore Obama's ties to him. They are what they are.

Mary, this isn't going to work. Nobody cares and it looks painfully desperate 3 weeks out during a financial meltdown. And acting like this is some kind of "October surprise" is just ridiculous. All this was dredged up by Hillary, don't forget. She actually asked him to his face during a debate and he had a simple answer and nobody cared and she lost. So he sat on the board of the charitable Republican founded Annenberg Foundation with the guy? Lots of people did...lots of Republicans. So he went to a fundraiser at the house of a man that had just won Chicago's "Man of the Year" award. If he's such a dangerous character how come he wasn't hauled off under the Patriot Act? He certainly isn't hiding! There's simply nothing there that Independents care about and that's who McCain needs now. Unless you and Hannity ( who appears to be having a stroke) can find a way to vote 10 million times each in each of the swing states, that is. The base is energized but it's not enough, and that's all this issue speaks to. It's actually a turn-OFF to everyone else.
McCain also has to be careful because it opens the door to his and certainly Palin's own bizarre associations. And they are bizarre and damaging.
That's why lawyers are careful about what they admit into evidence... what seems like a winner can open a line of questioning that boomerangs on you quite badly. They're not stupid.
If they go at this full bore it's tantamount to admitting that the election is lost anyway, let's see if we can damage his ability to govern.
Country first anyone?

There's a way, but the McCain campaign is against voter fraud and stealing the election.

There's no comparable Republican ACORN operation.

How can talking about Ayers be called an "October surprise"?

We've been talking about it for MONTHS and MONTHS! Obama wasn't the Dem nominee at the time. If the mainstream media had reported on Ayers then, the way CNN is now, I doubt Hillary would have the lost the nomination.

It's not a meltdown. Where have you been?

And the fact that Ayers was not hauled in under the Patriot Act doesn't reveal that he's "rehabilitated." To the contrary, it simply blows the Left's line that the government has been imprisoning dissidents.

Apparently, there's no information that Ayers is actively plotting or about to personally carry out another terrorist attack.

He's free.

I suggest you read Republican operative Allen Raymond's book "How to Rig an Election".
He's YOUR guy not ours, and his confessions sadly and infuriatingly show that next to Acorn, Republican fraud and corruption is a mighty oak tree. He's one of the growing number of guys from your side that, to their credit, can't sleep at night.

Ayers suddenly became the Palin's big topic at rallies/mob scenes in the first week in October. Now even McCain has had to back off because it was veiwed by the racist cockroaches that make up much of the "energized base" as an invitation to come out from under the bed, and it has been embarrassingly, shockingly UGLY for the rest of the Republican party.

Blaming "the media" when you have no other firm ground is being transparently overworked and frankly, now just sounds pathetic. I have seen Ayers covered on ALL the channels since Hillary brought him up during the primaries. You have to actually WATCH the other networks, not just let FOX tell you what's on them.

It's NOT a financial meltdown? Where have I been?

Is your point that it's WORSE than a meltdown? Are you aware that your statement advances the point of my comment, not refutes it? Or are you saying that financially things are somehow secretly OK?

To paraphrase George Will to John McCain...
"Mary, is this as good as you're going to get?"
The bad news coming DAILY out of the GOP campaign, falling poll numbers no matter which you look at, and the quality of your responses is making me feel like a bully.

Mary said...

I didn't read your comment carefully. My mistake.

When I responded, I was thinking that "meltdown" referred to something else even though you clearly state "financial meltdown."

Yes, we are in the midst of a crisis financially.

I don't put much stock in polls. Remember those 2004 exit polls that had John Kerry in a landslide?

If you can't admit that ACORN is a problem, then you are blind. Why deflect with a "YOUR guy is worse" tactic?

The ACORN scandal isn't going away. Even the lib media can't ignore this atrocity.

Bill Ayers also isn't going away. Obama can't rewrite his personal history. It is what it is.

It's time for Obama to be truthful with the American people. His "rehabilitated" excuse is an embarrassment.

Ayers was NOT Palin's big topic at the Waukesha rally I attended. There's audio of the entire rally online. You really should listen to it for yourself rather than swallowing the lib media's angle.
