THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!
I was going to vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin because I believe that their policies and positions are far better for America than those offered by far Leftist Barack Obama and the erratic, gaffe machine Joe Biden.
But then I learned that $150,000 was spent to outfit the vice presidential candidate for her many appearances on the national campaign trail.
According to Politico, the money was used "to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family."
Apparently, the Palin family didn't have the deep closets to be prepared for being in the national spotlight.
Because of that, instead of voting for conservative principles and a Culture of Life, I cannot support the Republican ticket. Now, I must vote for the Democrats -- higher taxes, a "spread the wealth around" philosophy, and risky foreign policy.
How lame!
How utterly lame!
From the New York Times:
Sarah Palin’s wardrobe joined the ranks of symbolic political excess on Wednesday, alongside John McCain’s multiple houses and John Edwards’s $400 haircut, as Republicans expressed fear that weeks of tailoring Ms. Palin as an average “hockey mom” would fray amid revelations that the Republican Party outfitted her with expensive clothing from high-end stores.
Cable television, talk radio and even shows like “Access Hollywood” seemed gripped with sartorial fever after campaign finance reports confirmed that the Republican National Committee spent $75,062 at Neiman Marcus and $49,425 at Saks Fifth Avenue in September for Ms. Palin and her family.
Advisers to Ms. Palin said on Wednesday that the purchases — which totaled about $150,000 and were classified as “campaign accessories” — were made on the fly after Ms. Palin, the governor of Alaska, was chosen as the Republican vice-presidential candidate on Aug. 29 and needed new clothes to match climates across the 50 states. They emphasized, too, that Ms. Palin did not spend time on the shopping, and that other people made the decision to buy such an array of clothes.
Yet Republicans expressed consternation publicly and privately that the shopping sprees on her behalf, which were first reported by Politico, would compromise Ms. Palin’s standing as Senator McCain’s chief emissary to working-class voters whose salvos at the so-called cultural elite often delight audiences at Republican rallies.
Is this indicative of what Obama has called "the silly season in politics"?
I think it is, only it's not "silly" when the attack is being waged against Republicans. Then it's legitimate.
We're less than two weeks before electing the next president of the United States and this is what the Democrats want their lib media propaganda wing to dwell on as the most pressing issue of our time.
Ridiculous.
I don't think Sarah Palin should be faulted for not having the clothes required for her new role.
Rather than Palin's image as an average hockey mom being frayed by the revelation of her wardrobe bill, I think it highlights the fact that she is indeed an average hockey mom, without a bottomless closet of campaign-worthy clothes and accessories.
The way I see it, if Oprah's mother can run up a $155,547.31 bill for clothes, I don't think it's out of line for vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin to be outfitted to run for national office.
Sorry, Lefties.
Read my lipstick: You can put pricey clothes on a hockey mom, but she's still a hockey mom.

She just can't win. If she wore a $10 Walmart dress they'd call her a cheap redneck, etc.
Where's the equivalent report on the cost of Michelle Obama's wardrobe? Surely, the gal on Vanity Fair's best dressed list probably spends more ON HERSELF than Palin's 150,000 for a family of five!?
They fawn over how necessary it is to have that elegant look (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/08/fashion/08michelle.html)
but then complain when Sarah Palin has it? This is desperate and despicable garbage. ONE sided garbage.
If she can't dress for less than $150,000, then what will be the total of her proposals for a US budget?
And you made no mention of why her family gets to cash in.
$150,000? Assuming one sharp suit costs $1000, that's 150 of them. One for each day she's been Governor. Yep, she's experienced, all right.
This goes to budgetary judgment, doesn't it?
