Obama Acting Stupidly, Crowley May Sue

Obama is a very stubborn man.

He doesn't like to admit that he's wrong.

An example--

For months, Obama wouldn't budge on the American flag lapel pin issue. He refused to wear one, considering it a badge of phony patriotism as embodied by Bush administration officials. He stubbornly defended his decision to go sans American flag pin.

But during the 2008 campaign, Obama eventually added it to his wardrobe because it was politically expedient for him to so. Now he won't leave home without it.

Another example--

Obama refused to admit that he bowed when he greeted King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at the G-20 Summit in London. I think he still stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the bow, even though we have our eyes and can see for ourselves that he bent at the waist in a deep bow.

Now, Obama is acting stupidly again.

He just won't admit that he was wrong to slam the Cambridge police in the Henry Louis Gates Jr. case.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is standing by his assertion that police did not need to arrest a Harvard scholar who was trying to get into his own home.

Obama said in an interview with ABC that he has "extraordinary respect" for the challenges and hardships that law enforcement officers face every day in their line of work. But at the same time he said he didn't think it was necessary to arrest Henry Louis Gates Jr.

I wasn't aware that Obama was trained in law enforcement.

The fact is if Obama truly has "'extraordinary respect' for the challenges and hardships that law enforcement officers face," he would never have charged Sgt. James Crowley with acting stupidly.

Obama didn't have the facts of the case yet he assumed that it was an instance of racial profiling. That reveals volumes about Obama and the racially-tinged lens he uses to view the world.

Even more disgusting is that Obama won't back off in spite of information that now calls Obama's rush to judgment into question.

ABC reports that Crowley isn't ruling out suing Gates for defamation.

Alan McDonald, who represents Sgt. James Crowley, said the veteran cop who teaches a racial profiling class for rookie police officers has not ruled out filing a defamation of character or libel lawsuit.

"He is exploring all of his options,'' McDonald told ABC News.

Though charges were dropped, Gates has loudly declared his arrest was a result of racial profiling.

The arrest and subsequent storm of racially charged comments has enveloped the White House after President Obama said on Wednesday the Cambridge police acted "stupidly" in arresting his friend, Gates, who is a prominent black scholar.

Police organizations and others across the country are lashing out at Obama for calling out the Cambridge Police Department.

...Sgt. Dennis O'Connor, the president of the police union that represents Crowley and other superior officers in the Cambridge Police Department, told ABC News that Gates' arrest was "100 percent lawful" and that Obama should apologize to "Sgt. Crowley and all Cambridge Police officers."

"Sgt. Crowley has been called a racist, a liar and stupid,'' O'Connor said in an interview with ABC News. "Barack Obama just devastated the morale of the Cambridge Police Department. There are a lot of disheartened police officers out there. The remark was completely uncalled for. Sgt. Crowley -- and the entire Cambridge police force -- are owed an apology."

In an exclusive interview with ABC News' Terry Moran Thursday, the president defended his comments, stressing that "cooler heads should have prevailed."

"I have to say I am surprised by the controversy surrounding my statement, because I think it was a pretty straightforward commentary that you probably don't need to handcuff a guy, a middle-aged man who uses a cane, who's in his own home," Obama said.

The fact that Obama is surprised by the controversy surrounding his statement reveals just how out of touch he is.

The fringe Leftist Obama is out of step with Americans. He lives in that liberal bubble where the police are automatically considered the redneck racists in the wrong.

Rather than back off, the stubborn Obama won't admit that he acted stupidly and owes Sgt. Crowley, the Cambridge police, and all members of law enforcement across the country a big apology.

The longer Obama refuses to admit that he blew it the more damage he does to his "post-racial, transcendent image."

Obama has done a good job in exposing that "post-racial" thing to be a lie.

Still maybe the stubborn Obama will eventually come to his senses and try to smooth things over by inviting police officers over to the White House to play basketball or bowl.

Of course, they'd have to get in line. The Special Olympics athletes that Obama insulted still haven't received the invitation to the White House that Obama promised back in March.

But don't you know "that a wise (black man) with the richness of (his) experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life"?

Living on Cape Cod, we do a daytrip to Martha's Vineyard now and then. As long as Gates and/or BO are there, I'm steering clear of it as they both make me sick.
