Obama and Fox News: 'Not Losing Any Sleep'

Obama now is on-the-record in the White House war on Fox News. It's no longer just Anita Dunn and David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel and Robert Gibbs on the attack.

Obama has identified the enemy. The president of the United States is using the power of his office to discredit FOX News Channel as a legitimate news outlet.

That's terribly inappropriate. It makes him look so petty and paranoid and vulnerable.

In an interview with NBC's Savannah Guthrie, Obama does his best to keep blood off his hands by dodging questions.

Video.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: Do you think it's appropriate for the White House to say what is and what is not a news organization?

OBAMA: You know, uh, I think that understandably since you're in the news business this is something that you're very interested in, and I think the, uh, American people are a lot more interested in what we're doing to create jobs or how we're handling the situation in Afghanistan.

Note Obama didn't answer.

It's slick to avoid the question by saying Guthrie is interested in the war on FOX because she's in the news business. No. Americans are interested because the White House is abusing its power by declaring FOX News an enemy and waging an orchestrated assault on the organization. Interest has nothing to do with being in the news business. This abuse of power doesn't sit well with many Americans.

Yeah, I'm interested in what Obama is doing to create jobs. He's failing miserably. Seven months after the stimulus, 49 of 50 states have lost jobs.

And I'm interested in what Obama is doing in Afghanistan. He's failing miserably on that front as well, dragging his feet.

GUTHRIE: Fair enough, but your advisers raised this issue.

OBAMA: Well, no, the, uh, I think that what our advisers have simply said is is that, uh, we are going to take, uh, media as it comes. And if media is operating basically as a talk radio format, then that's one thing, and if it's operating as a, uh, as a news outlet, then that's another. But, it's not something I'm losing a lot of sleep over.

What does he mean "no"?

Of course, Obama's team raised the issue. FOX News certainly didn't. How lame is that?

This "take media as it comes" sounds goofy. He's hemming and hawing and not making sense.

If Obama is going to whine that FOX is operating with a talk radio format, then he surely has to complain about MSNBC. The post-partisan Obama, the brilliant Obama, has to be aware of the vitriol spewed on MSNBC, hardly operating as a news outlet.

Obviously, FOX is driving Obama and his administration nuts. They wouldn't be waging this Nixonian war if they were sleeping soundly and having sweet dreams.

Obama is such a wimp. He tries to distance himself from the whole thing, but he can't. The buck stops with him. He's responsible for his flunkies. If he objects to their campaign against FOX then he should get them in line.

The war with FOX News is Obama's war.

It was a mistake to declare war. Obama needs to retreat immediately before he does himself anymore damage.
