Obama: Fundraisers in Florida

Obama was a busy guy yesterday. He spoke at two fundraisers in Florida, hauling in an estimated $2.5 million.

Spread that wealth around, Obama.

WASHINGTON (CBS4) -- President Barack Obama left Miami Thursday night after attending two fundraisers for the democratic party, one hosted by Gloria and Emilio Estefan at their home, and another at the Arsht Center.

While in town, Mr. Obama attended a fundraiser at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts; jazz musician Esperanza Spalding performed. Tickets for that event ranged from $250 to $1,250.

Obama arrived in South Florida after a visit and speech at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral where he discussed his administration's vision for human spaceflight, controversial after he shelved former President George W. Bush's moon mission.

But Obama's visit to the home of Miami's 'First Family' has stirred up a bit of controversy among Miami's Cuban community.

On Thursday Gloria and Emilio Estefan, who are both registered Independents, hosted President Obama at their Miami Beach home for a $15,000 per person Democratic Party fundraiser.

...The DNC and Obama's campaign network, Organizing for America, expect to raise $2.5 million from the two events.

Video.

After Obama said that he had cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans, he commented on the Tea Partiers.
OBAMA: So I've, I've, I've been a little amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes, taxes. You would think they would be sayin' thank you. That's what you'd think.

Obama also once again mocked the opposition to the Democrats' government-run health care plan, the foundation for a single payer system.
OBAMA: This was gonna be Armageddon, wanted to repeal health reform before the signature was even dry. So I went to NASA today and I asked some of the guys, I said, 'Are asteroids comin' or are you sending Bruce Willis or Ben Affleck out to...?' They told me America's gonna be OK.

Obama is so arrogant and condescending.

He has a real mean streak. His "humor" is cruel. Probably the best example of that is when he mocked the Special Olympics.

Bottom line: Obama does not respect the opinions held by the majority of the American people. Worse than dissing their opinions, he doesn't respect the people.

$2.5 million for the DNC and Obama's campaign.

What a waste!

But you have to admit, you paid lower taxes this year!

Absolutely. We paid less in taxes because in 2009 our freaking income was slashed. SLASHED! Thanks, Obama. Thanks a lot.
