"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun."
--BARACK OBAMA, fundraiser in Philadelphia, (June 13, 2008)
"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,"
--BARACK OBAMA, campaigning in Nevada, (September 17, 2008)
Community organizer Barack "I'm skinny but I'm tough" Obama is troubled by the "vitriol" coming from Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.
I guess we're playing by new rules.
In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Harry Smith, CBS, Obama explained that he's disturbed by the rhetoric from some conservative talk show hosts.
(By the way, on Tuesday, Matt Lauer had an EXCLUSIVE interview with Obama, too. "EXCLUSIVE" isn't what it used to be.)

HARRY SMITH: I've been spending time, out and about, listening to talk radio.
OBAMA: Right.
SMITH: Uh, the kindest of terms you're sometimes referred to out in America is a socialist, the worst of which I've heard is, uh, called a Nazi. Are you aware of the level of enmity that crosses the airwaves and that people have made part of their daily conversation about you?
OBAMA: Well, I mean, I think that, uh, when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck...
SMITH: It's beyond that.
OBAMA: It's pretty apparent, and, uh, it's troublesome. But, uh, you know, keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of, this kind of vitriol comes out. Uh, it happens often when, uh, you've got an economy that is making people more anxious and people are feeling as if there's a lot of change that needs to take place. But that's not the vast majority of Americans. I think the vast majority of Americans know that we're trying hard, that, uh, I want what's best for the country. They may disagree with me on certain policy issues. There are a huge number of people who agree with me strongly.
And, uh, you know, I didn't buy all the hype right after inauguration, where everybody was only saying nice things about me. And I don't, uh, get too, uh, worried when things aren't going as well because I know that over time these things turn.
Think of the sort of attacks that elected Democrats and the lib media made on George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. They were merciless. The vitriol was unending. It continues to this day.
Think of the filth that comes out of Bill Maher's mouth. Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann and the MSNBC gang still slam Bush and Cheney.
Did anyone from CBS ever give Bush and Cheney any sympathy for the abuse they endured? CBS actually used forged documents to discredit Bush in an attempt to influence the presidential election. Was Harry upset about that?
What about the way Rush Limbaugh has been attacked by Leftists, wishing he were dead? Remember Chris Matthews' bizarre fantasy?
Obama enjoyed Wanda Sykes' vitriol. He was yucking it up.
Under the guise of comedy, Sykes had this to say when she was "entertaining" OBAMA:
"You know, you might want to look into this, [President Obama], because I think maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight."
"Rush Limbaugh -- 'I hope the country the fails.' I hope his kidneys fail."
According to Sykes, "[Obama] told me I did a great job. The first lady said the same thing. I got a 'well done' from the president, I'm on cloud nine."
I guess Obama doesn't find Sykes' vitriol troublesome, and if she wasn't spewing vitriol than I don't know what it is. Obama gave Sykes the stamp of approval. That's disgusting.
You want vitriol? Look at the smear campaign Obama and other elected Dems and hacks in the media are waging against those in the Tea Party movement. "Teabaggers." Enough said.
All of a sudden, now that Obama is in the White House, the Left is calling for different rules. Apparently, the standards have changed. The Leftists could say the ugliest of things about a sitting Republican president and vice president with impunity; but when Obama is criticized and opposition is expressed, that's over the line. They can rip conservatives in the media and disparage the American people. No problem with that.
Hypocrites.
