Chris Wallace, Shirley Sherrod, and FOX News

Chris Wallace sets the record straight regarding Shirley Sherrod and FOX News.

He chastises Robert Gibbs and the White House for blaming the media and FOX News for misrepresenting Sherrod's speech to the NAACP. The fact is FOX didn't talk about Sherrod until after she was forced to resign. Wallace says only Bill O'Reilly mentioned Sherrod prior to her resignation and he apologized for his comments.

FOX News didn't push the White House and the NAACP into rushing to judgment about Sherrod. Wallace says they have no one to blame but themselves. The NAACP was in possession of the entire tape yet that didn't stop NAACP president Benjamin Jealous from condemning her.

Wallace also says that he hopes Obama doesn't give in to Sherrod's demands to speak to him one-on-one, expressing his concern about an individual insisting that she get a private meeting with the president.

In this interview, Wallace doesn't address the parts of Sherrod's speech that can be interpreted as racist and offensive.

As a white male from the upper middle class, I have long suspected that I am systematically oppressed and the victim of a vast coordinated effort to disrupt my absolute hegemony over this country's culture, wealth, and power. Thank you and your wonderful blog for confirming these suspicions. Go Packers.
