Chris Larson Defeats Jeff Plale

Democrat Jeff Plale, the incumbent, was unseated by Chris Larson.

It might be more accurate to say that Plale was the victim of a blitzkreig by third-party groups with their ugly, unfounded attacks.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Milwaukee County Supervisor Chris Larson overwhelmingly defeated Sen. Jeff Plale in a closely watched Democratic primary race Tuesday.

In a year of discontented voters tilting to the right, Larson challenged Plale to his left and mounted a stiff challenge that drew heavy spending from outside groups. Larson will face Republican Jess Ripp in the general election in the 7th Senate District.

"Thank you for all of your support! On to the general and then to Madison!" Larson said in a message to his supporters on Twitter.

Even considering the far Leftist leanings of much of the 7th Senate District, it's hard to imagine that the far Left candidate Larson will easily skate into a state Senate seat in this year of Republican resurgence, Scott Walker and Ron Johnson.

I'm sure Larson is counting on similar outside help in the general election.

A win based on dirty politics isn't much of a victory.

I fear the next seven weeks will be unbearably dirty.
