The primary didn't work out the way Tom Barrett and the Democrats had hoped.
Mark Neumann lost.
Barrett will be facing Scott Walker in November.
From the Wisconsin State Journal:
It was a victory more than four years in the making.
Scott Walker got in the race early, built a grass-roots army, and won over Republican Party leaders long before their spring convention.
And on Tuesday, the Milwaukee County executive beat challenger Mark Neumann to become the Republican nominee and early favorite for Wisconsin governor.
Walker handily defeated Neumann, a homebuilder and former U.S. representative who spent millions of his own money on his campaign.
Calling Neumann "a good and decent man," Walker told the cheering crowd gathered at his victory celebration that the primary race has made him a better candidate.
"Because of this primary, we are tested and we are ready to take on the liberals in Madison," Walker said during his speech at American Serb Hall.
That's true. Mark Neumann threw everything he had at Walker.
Tom Barrett and the Democrats pummeled Walker in the primary to no avail. The liberal media assisted in trying to take down Walker but their attacks failed.
Walker scored a decisive victory over Neumann. Although Walker was forced to spend a lot on this primary race, he has benefited in that he came out relatively unscathed.
Walker not only survived the primary but has emerged as the clear winner.
