Feingold a No-Show for Obama Milwaukee Visit

When Obama speaks at Laborfest in Milwaukee on Monday, Russ Feingold won't be at his side.

Apparently, Feingold has other engagements that take precedence over an appearance with the president of the United States.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

When President Barack Obama visits Milwaukee on Labor Day to talk to working families and members of dozens of labor unions, one prominent politician won't be there.

A Labor Day schedule put out by the staff of U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) indicates that, while Feingold will be in Milwaukee earlier in the day for a Milwaukee Laborfest Pre-Parade on Monday morning, he will not be in town when Obama is expected to arrive.

Obama's schedule for the day has not been released, but Laborfest will be open from noon to 7 p.m. at the Maier Festival Grounds.

Feingold has two other Labor Day appearances in Janesville, his hometown, and Kenosha. Both cities have strong labor union ties.

When Obama was in Menomonee Falls and Milwaukee last month, Feingold did greet the president in Milwaukee and stayed with him the entire day.

"I will stand with the president of the United States anywhere, anytime, no hesitation. I'm proud of what this president has tried to do," Feingold told the Journal Sentinel in an interview last month prior to Obama's visit.

So Feingold is scheduled to be in southeastern Wisconsin on Labor Day but he can't swing by Milwaukee to appear with Obama.

That's odd, especially for someone who said he'd stand with Obama "anywhere, anytime, no hesitation."

If Feingold thought it would benefit him politically, he'd be at Laborfest with Obama. He'd move heaven and earth to make it happen.

Another Democrat avoids Obama.

The country is watching Feingold.

And if he DID show up, you'd have something negative to say about that too.

Big mistake to snub President Obama in hopes of snatching a few conservative leaning votes. Although I doubt Democrats will vote Republican because of it, he may fail to "excite" certain portions of the Democratic party, who in turn simply won't vote. That will lead to his "undoing".
