Don Walker, Russ Feingold's water boy/cheerleader, loves Feingold's new ad.
He gushes over its "humor."
One of the football clips in the Feingold ad features the infamous Randy Moss "mooning" incident at Lambeau Field in January 2005, in which Fox Sports commentator Joe Buck is heard saying, "That is a disgusting act."
Oops!
The NFL doesn't find the use of the Randy Moss clip a laughing matter.
Russ Feingold has ticked off the NFL.
The National Football League has asked the Russ Feingold campaign to take down a newly released ad that uses footage from NFL games.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Journal Sentinel that the league did not license the footage used in the ad. He said the league had contacted the Feingold campaign about removing it.
The ad features various scenes of football players celebrating in the end zone. One clip shows the infamous 2005 "mooning" incident featuring Randy Moss, then with the Minnesota Vikings, in a game at Lambeau Field.
A closer look at the ad suggests that the only NFL player featured in the ad is Moss and the Vikings.
...The NFL has long taken a dim view of anyone using NFL footage and, like other sports leagues, is aggressive about protecting its own property.
There was no immediate comment from the Feingold campaign.
Here's Feingold's ad, "Number One":
Transcript
RUSS FEINGOLD: In pro football, they call this excessive celebration.
And they punish it with fines and 15-yard penalties.
It's exactly the kind of behavior that corporate special interests and Ron Johnson are engaging in.
They're dancing in the end zone, because they think they're going to take down the U.S. senator who's been named the number one enemy of Washington lobbyists.
Fortunately, the game isn't over yet.
I'm Russ Feingold and I approve this message because Wisconsin deserves an independent voice.
Russ, Russ, Russ.
You can't use NFL footage without permission.
Very sloppy.
Don must be so disappointed.

UPDATE: "Feingold will edit campaign ad"
The National Football League has asked the Russ Feingold campaign to take down a newly released ad that uses footage from NFL games.
The Feingold campaign reacted quickly. “We are making an edit to the ad to accommodate the NFL’s concerns," campaign spokesman John Kraus told the Journal Sentinel.
Feingold isn't the only one doing editing.
Don Walker and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has edited the post of the NFL's objection.
The title, "NFL to Feingold: Take Down you Ad," has disappeared from the Journal Sentinel's NewsWatch box. Rather than posting an additional update, the Journal Sentinel has removed the more damaging original headline.
Anything to help the floundering Feingold, the Democrat-Media Complex in action.

Here's Feingold's edited ad, "No Vikings."
Feingold doesn't violate copyright laws in this one.
Maybe he still is in some copyright violation, but Feingold's failure to get authorization from the NFL for use of its footage is no longer an issue.
Apparently, the unedited Feingold ad was still airing today.
From Twitter:
More dishonest tactics: Russ Feingold tells NFL he will remove unauthorized footage from ad, yet continues to air on tv in original form.
