Reuters-Ipsos Poll: Johnson 51%, Feingold 44%

The latest Reuters-Ipsos poll and Russ Feingold's internal polling are in dramatic disagreement.

According to Feingold, a measure of likely voters puts him in a dead heat with Ron Johnson.

RUSS FEINGOLD: That is a measure of likely voters. And when we look at a measure that's higher than that, we are 25 or 30 points ahead.

Poor Russ.

Reuters tells a very different story.

Veteran Democratic Senator Russ Feingold is struggling in his bid for re-election in Wisconsin due in part to concerns about his ability to help create jobs, a Reuters-Ipsos poll found on Tuesday.

With three weeks to go until the November 2 congressional elections, the poll found wealthy Republican businessman Ron Johnson leading Feingold by 51 percent to 44 percent among likely voters in Wisconsin.

Feingold, bidding for a fourth six-year term, had long been seen as a safe incumbent but a weak U.S. economy has generated doubts about him and many of President Barack Obama's Democratic allies.

Why refer to Ron Johnson as a "wealthy Republican businessman"?

Trying to stir up a little class warfare?

When is Herb Kohl ever referred to as wealthy Democrat businessman and owner of the Milwaukee Bucks?

During the 2004 presidential election, did Reuters refer to John Kerry as a wealthy Democrat? Was John Edwards called a wealthy Democrat trial lawyer?

Only Republicans get the wealthy label.

The fact is Ron Johnson is a self-made man. He built a business. He earned his wealth. He worked hard and is living the American Dream.

I admire that. I don't begrudge Johnson's success.

Furthermore, Johnson obviously can relate to the citizens of Wisconsin in a way that Feingold cannot.

Feingold ignores his constituents. He doesn't listen to us.

Johnson does listen and his message is resonating with Wisconsin voters. That's why Johnson is leading Feingold by a comfortable margin with just three weeks to go before the election.

Feingold will have to peel it and eat it in three weeks. He can get barack obama or Joe Biden back there to stump for him, but people know what's going on and they're not buying the Democratic Party this time.

Michelle is in Milwaukee today stumping for Russ.

The Feingold camp knows that they need to really turn out the vote in the highly Dem Milwaukee.

Given the unemployment and poverty and desperation in the city, I doubt that will happen.
