Carlos Danger

DEMOCRAT Anthony Weiner appeared to be on the path to be New York City's next mayor.

Alas, there's Danger on that path.

First, a bit of background on the scandal that surfaced in 2011, eventually causing DEMOCRAT Weiner to resign from Congress and admit his wrongdoing after his attempts to lie his way out of it.

Here are some links:

It turns out that even after being caught with his pants down, DEMOCRAT Weiner continued to play perverted games online.

The DEMOCRAT used the name CARLOS DANGER.

From the Weekly Standard:

Anthony Weiner, the former congressman and Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City, has a statement on allegations he sent racy messages on social media sites to a woman who was not his wife:
I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress. While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me. I've apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness. I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused. As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward.
More, from AP, via Breitbart:
New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner admitted on Tuesday to sending additional explicit photos and texts to a woman he met online _ correspondence she says began months after he resigned from Congress for similar behavior.

The allegation could severely test voters' willingness to forgive Weiner, who has said he spent the two years since the scandal trying to make things right with his wife and earn redemption.

Weiner, who resigned his House seat in June 2011 after acknowledging having sexual conversations with at least a half-dozen women, has been near the top of most mayoral polls since his late entry into the race this spring.

...Weiner did not say when the newly revealed exchanges occurred, but he said his behavior created "challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation."

The new lewd correspondence was posted Monday by the gossip website The Dirty. The woman involved was not identified.

The woman, who told the website she was 22 when she began her correspondence with Weiner, said their online relationship lasted for six months and continued into last summer. She claimed Weiner used the alias "Carlos Danger" for their tawdry exchanges and later asked her to destroy the evidence of their chats.

..."This behavior is behind me," said Weiner in the statement released Tuesday. "I apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness."
Mayor Carlos Danger, DEMOCRAT?

I don't think so.

But then again, Carlos is a DEMOCRAT. DEMOCRATS get away with this sort of sleaze.

"Yeah, I'm a perv. So? I'm a DEMOCRAT."

I bet DEMOCRAT Eliot Spitzer, assuming he no longer hired prostitutes after getting caught with his pants down and socks on, is thrilled with these revelations. It makes his "fall from grace" a bit more graceful than DEMOCRAT Weiner's.

UPDATE: Weiner admits to XXX online chats with woman for 6 months after resigning from Congress because of sext scandal; won't drop out of race

“Anthony Weiner like a true sex predator promised Anonymous many things like a job at Politico and a condo in Chicago (a place they could meet up and have sex). The relationship consisted of Anthony Weiner and Anonymous sending sexually explicit pictures of each other and having sexual conversations via phone. The best part was Anthony used an alias this time thinking this would protect him.”
I'm glad the woman came forward, but at 22 years old she was an adult at the time.

Her line, "The part that’s most annoying is that I was 22 years old and in a bad place, but if anyone asked him he would say the same thing about himself, yet he’s an adult," bugs me.

Hey, "Anonymous"! You're an adult at 22.

Weiner is really a sicko.

Instead, of spending time with his wife and baby boy, he was sharing his "self-portraits" with women he met online.

Supposedly, he's been cured of his perversion. Therapy has worked a miracle.

He'll never, ever do anything perverted like that again. He promises.

Eliot Spitzer and Jay Leno: 'How Could You Be This Stupid?' (Video)

The disgraced former governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, was Jay Leno's guest on Friday's Tonight Show.

Spitzer, Client #9, believes he has the character and judgment to be trusted as New York City's comptroller.

Leno called Spitzer brilliant, but then followed up with "How could you be this stupid?"

Here's video:

Spitzer was worse than stupid. He thought he was above the law.

Political power and Spitzer are a dangerous mix.

Spitzer kept referring to his "fall from grace."

That gentle, almost poetic term glosses over just how sleazy and corrupt Spitzer was exposed to be.

I wouldn't trust him to hold public office.

Leno: More Weiner Jokes

DEMOCRAT Anthony Weiner is still starring in Jay Leno's monologue.

Brett Favre, Eliot Spitzer, and Bill Clinton are also playing roles.

Jokes from Thursday's Tonight Show:

JAY LENO: It was so hot in Washington, everyone was sitting around in their underwear like Congressman Weiner. He finally felt at home.

Oh man, that story! Oh, please! This is the story that just won't go away. It gets worse and worse. You've probably seen this. It now seems there's a picture going around the Internet of Congressman Weiner's naked penis. And you can tell it's him because it looks just like him, you know? You know, if he was bald. I mean, you can see the resemblance.

Let me tell you how graphic this picture is. Even Brett Favre won't return his calls now. That's how bad... it's terrible.

You know, I mean, I don't understand taking... how many photos of his crotch did he take? You know, I don't have any photos of my crotch. I mean, I've got a couple of oil paintings, some sketches, sure, a couple of charcoals, but I mean, you know, I don't, really... No, it's awful.

See, I don't understand the way Washington works. Now explain this to me: We are not allowed to see bin Laden's death photo because it's too explicit; but our Congressman's penis, that's fine.

Well, the latest news is that Congressman Weiner's wife is pregnant. I'll tell you how creepy this is: When his wife first called to tell him she was pregnant, he said, 'Uh, who is this?'

Well, you know who married Weiner and his wife? Bill Clinton. In fact, Weiner called Bill Clinton and apologized. See that's when you know you have a problem, OK, when your sexual behavior has offended Bill Clinton. That's where you just go, 'OK, time to draw the line.'

Well, more and more people are now calling for Anthony Weiner to resign. But it's not all bad news. Eliot Spitzer said if Weiner does resign, he can join him on his show and they'll call it 'Weiner Spitzer.'

How many people feel he should resign?

(Audience applauds)

How many people feel he's doing a good job and this has nothing to do with his job?

(Little audience applause)

Interesting, interesting.

Now, as I said, Weiner is adamant now about not resigning. In fact, CNN caught up with him today on the streets and they talked to him. Here, take... here's the interview:

(Clip of actual CNN video, followed by video with CNN audio)

I don't want to see that member of Congress, OK? Thank you.

Christopher Lee and Craigslist

Congressman Christopher Lee, Republican, served the 26th District of New York.

Unfortunately, Chris Lee also was interested in serving himself.

Gawker broke the story.

Rep. Christopher Lee is a married Republican congressman serving the 26th District of New York. But when he trolls Craigslist's "Women Seeking Men" forum, he's Christopher Lee, "divorced" "lobbyist" and "fit fun classy guy."

Lie, lie, lie.

Lee isn't divorced (at the moment). He's not a lobbyist. He's not a classy guy.

This scandal played out with lightning speed.

Just hours after Gawker exposed Lee, he resigned.

Here's Lee's statement:
For Immediate Release: Wednesday, February 9, 2010

Statement from Congressman Chris Lee (NY-26):

"It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of Western New York. I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.

"The challenges we face in Western New York and across the country are too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue, and so I am announcing that I have resigned my seat in Congress effective immediately."

What was he thinking?

Craigslist???

It is an honor to serve in public office. It's a privilege, not a prize. Voters trusted Lee and he let them down.

His betrayal of his wife and son is even more disturbing.

The public humiliation he brought on himself is nothing compared to the pain he's caused his family.

The fact that Lee resigned so quickly makes me wonder if he has more to hide and he wanted to bow out before more sleaze surfaced.

To borrow from Shakespeare, I guess "the Internet makes fools of us all."

So many people check their brains at the door when they go online.

Oh, well. Maybe the "fit fun classy" Lee will land on his feet and get a job with CNN, on Eliot Spitzer's show.

Oliver Stone and Sarah Palin: Parker Spitzer

CNN's Parker Spitzer debuted on Monday night.

Not many people cared. Only 454,000 people watched the program.

Wow. That's unbelievably bad. That's MSNBC bad.

Client #9's Show #1 featured Aaron Sorkin.

He bashed Sarah Palin.

From Brent Baker, Media Research Center:

Aaron Sorkin came aboard the Monday premiere of CNN’s Parker Spitzer to promote the new movie, The Social Network, for which he wrote the screenplay, but used more of his air time to spout his anti-conservative and anti-Republican prejudices, starting with Sarah Palin. Prompted by Kathleen Parker for his assessment of Palin, Sorkin, creator of NBC’s The West Wing television drama, insulted Palin:
Sarah Palin's an idiot. Come on. This is a remarkably, stunningly, jaw-droppingly incompetent and mean woman.

Parker jumped in: “Wow. What do you base that on, the meanness part?” Sorkin explained: “When she talks about real Americans versus not real Americans, that's a divisive thing. I'm pretty sure I fall into the category of a not real American.”

...Later on the October 4 program, Sorkin echoed Bill Maher: “The Democrats may have moved into the center, but the Republicans have moved into a mental institution.”

Video.

Kathleen Parker questioned why Sorkin called Palin mean, but she apparently had no problem with the "idiot" and "remarkably, stunningly, jaw-droppingly incompetent" part.

Like Spitzer, Parker is not a conservative and she's not a very nice person.

I don't know if Sorkin still is a drug addict and that might be influencing his remarks. In any event, what Sorkin said is terribly rude. His comment reveals far more about him than Palin.

On Client #9's Show #2, we get Oliver Stone and more attacks on Sarah Palin.

Parker gave Stone the bait and he took it.

Video.

Transcript
KATHLEEN PARKER: Could you see making a movie about Sarah Palin? Is she movie fodder? I would think she's...

OLIVER STONE: I think it's a bad idea because I think you're already empowering her. She's a moron in my opinion and she doesn't say anything, and she's very colorful. But you give her more and more power, like Fr. Coughlin in the 1930s or... You know, she's an Andy Griffith character out of Face in the Crowd or something.

PARKER: Well, let's not make a movie about her right now. But looking backward, I mean as we advance in the future and look back, it's a very unusual phenomenon that she has entered this political stage.

STONE: No, not really. There's Know-Nothingism in American history all over the place. You find candidates coming, ignorant people run for office and they win.

The Ku Klux Klan was marching, 100,000 Ku Klux Klan marched in the streets of Washington, D.C. in 1923, to astounding success with white sheets on their heads in Washington, D.C.

ELIOT SPITZER: So what is the response? In other words...

PARKER: But a woman- I don't think we've had many women...

STONE: It happens... all kinds of crazy stuff happens. We've had suffragettes. We've had prohibition, right? We banned alcohol. We go, America goes into its virtue, its Know-Nothing kind of like, the foreigners are enemies; we hate the Europeans; we blame them. We're an isolationist history and an isolationist country. We have two huge oceans and we feel protected.

SPITZER: How do you expect, or do you expect, this to burn out or to end? What is the response to it?

STONE: Well, in this climate, with the media empowering her, you might very well have an election which she could win. If she wins, then we deserve what we get.

What a load!

Sarah Palin and two huge oceans to protect us?

Suffragettes were crazy?

I wouldn't call women demanding the right to vote crazy.

Stone, however, is.

I don't know the guest scheduled to appear on Show #3, but if it's true to form, discussion will turn to Sarah Palin.

Parker and Spitzer's obsession with Palin is creepy.

There's a lot about Spitzer that I find creepy.

Ken Kratz: Medical Leave

Ken Kratz, Calumet County's disgraced district attorney, announced in a statement this morning that's he taking "medical leave" for an undetermined amount of time.

From WLUK:

Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz announced he is taking medical leave starting today.

His decision was announced Monday morning in a news release to the local media. The length of the leave is undetermined.

The announcement comes after it was revealed that Kratz sent what some are calling inappropriate text messages to a domestic abuse victim.

FOX 11 has learned that Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and Governor Jim Doyle will meet this afternoon to discuss the situation. The governor has the power to remove a district attorney from office.

...Kratz has said he plans to stay in office after what he called a "lapse in judgment."

He has also hired attorney Robert Craanen to represent him in the case. Craanen specializes in employment law and tells FOX 11 he will fight any attempt to remove Kratz from his position.

Craanen said Kratz's medical leave is not related to any "serious physical ailment."

Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Froehlich will handle all of the county's cases while Kratz is on leave.

Kratz' attorney has advised him to no longer speak publicly about the text messages.

From the Associated Press:
If Doyle takes that step, Craanen said Kratz would have the option of contesting the decision in a hearing.

"This is just a really inappropriately bad mistake by this DA after many years of commitment to the community," Craanen said. "This could potentially wreck his career. It's got nothing to do with evidence, with misdoing — he was never charged with anything ... He's the first to admit this was quite a mistake, but it shouldn't really define his career. And he's been a great DA."

State Rep. Bob Ziegelbauer of Manitowoc joined the calls for Kratz's resignation Monday.

"Kratz has made serious mistakes which permanently undermine his credibility and impair his ability to properly carry out his duties," he said in a statement.

Kratz's absence leaves only one prosecutor in his office, Jeffrey Froehlich, and several pending cases that Kratz was prosecuting. For instance, Kratz said last week he would handle a sexual assault trial set to begin Wednesday and other important cases he couldn't reassign.

In the statement Monday, Kratz said he believed the court would "make reasonable calendar adjustments consistent with the office staffing level."

Craanen would not comment on Kratz's medical condition or estimate how long he would be on leave. Last week, Kratz said he would get individual psychotherapy treatment for "this issue," but would not elaborate.

Obviously, Kratz is NOT going quietly.

Taking the medical route, using that as an excuse for his unacceptable, unprofessional behavior, is lame.

Kratz is attempting to weasel out of taking personal responsibility for his terrible choices. He's trying to paint himself as the victim of a medical condition, something beyond his control. Poor ill Ken Kratz.

The medicalization of this situation isn't going to fly.

Kratz's bad judgment isn't just related to sending inappropriate text messages. It extends to his handling of this scandal.

To salvage his career and "rehabilitate" his credibility, he should have resigned and reemerged later, like the disgraced Eliot Spitzer.

Even Spitzer realized he couldn't survive the revelations about his penchant for high-priced whores. He had to step down.

Kratz doesn't recognize that he's making things worse rather than better. He got caught. He must face the consequences like a man, not a weasel. Now he has to be held accountable, but he won't accept that.

If he thinks he can conduct himself so unprofessionally with impunity, he's wrong.

Maybe Kratz is sick, but I don't think so.

Is arrogance an illness?

Al Gore: 'Toward Sustainable Capitalism'

Al Gore, former U.S. vice president, and David Blood, are co-founders of Generation Investment Management.

Gore serves as the chairman and Blood is the senior partner.

We're all familiar with Gore. Learn a little about Blood.

Previously, David served as co-CEO and CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. His responsibilities included all aspects of the global business including portfolio management, sales and client service, risk management and infrastructure. David received a B.A. from Hamilton College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. He is on the Board of Hamilton College, Social Finance, New Forests and SHINE; on the Investment Committee of the Acumen Fund and the Advisory Board of Bridges Ventures.

In today's Wall Street Journal, Gore and Blood write a column addressing our economic woes, "Toward Sustainable Capitalism."

I think Blood wrote the column and maybe Gore read it.

The column discusses "long-term incentives" and "short-term greed." Basically, it's Lefty stuff.

The only reason I mention it at all is because of the incredibly bad timing of the publication of the piece.

It's always been hard for me to take Gore seriously. I don't think of him as an intellectual at all. In general, Gore's gravitas factor has plummeted.

So much of his global warming shtick has been debunked.

Then there are
the several tabloid reports offering the "real" reason for Gore's 40-year marriage falling apart. One claims he had an affair with Laurie David. Another claims Gore is gay.

Yesterday, the
National Enquirer ran the story that Gore was accused in the sexual assault of a masseuse in Portland, Oregon.

For the most part, when the Enquirer makes shocking allegations about a political figure, I now assume there's some truth to the story.

Unfortunately for Gore, the story wasn't dismissed as just another rumor.

Portland media gave credence to the Enquirer's "exclusive." It wasn't, in fact, completely fabricated tabloid trash.

UPDATE: [T]he Portland Tribune had the story two years ago, and writes that it "chose at that time not to publish a story."

...Portland Tribune executive editor Mark Garber declined to discuss the story in detail, but did shed a bit more light on why his paper had chosen not to run with it, based on what he called "many of the test points that we would normally have to determine whether there was sufficient evidence that something inappropriate had occurred."

"We weren’t able to meet our own test," he said.

The paper also quoted a Gore spokeswoman, Kalee Krieder, saying, “Not only has there not been a settlement, we haven’t been approached about one nor can we imagine any basis for one.”

In effect, the Enquirer's exposé pushed the Portland Tribune to admit its knowledge of the story and explain why it sat on it for two years.

Does anyone doubt that if the story had involved a Republican politician the Tribune would have splashed it immediately?

Portland woman says Al Gore groped her in hotel room

A Portland massage therapist gave local police a detailed statement last year alleging that former Vice President Al Gore groped her, kissed her and made unwanted sexual advances during a late-night massage session in October 2006 in a suite at the upscale Hotel Lucia.

The woman told investigators that she informed two friends and kept the clothes she wore that night, including her black pants with stains on them. But Portland police didn't contact any of the woman's friends, obtain the potential evidence or interview anyone at the hotel, records show.

"The case was not investigated any further because detectives concluded there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations," the Portland Police Bureau said in a prepared statement Wednesday, responding to inquiries from all over the world after the National Enquirer broke the story on its website.

In her detailed Jan. 8, 2009, statement to a Portland sexual assault investigator, the woman said she was called to the hotel about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 24, 2006, to provide a massage for Gore, who was registered under the name "Mr. Stone." Once inside his ninth-floor suite, she said he pushed her hand to his groin, fondled her buttocks and breasts, tongue-kissed her and threw her down on the bed as she tried to thwart his advances.

She also said Gore had finished a beer and opened a bottle of Grand Marnier while she was in the room.

While the Police Bureau considers it a closed case, it said it would reopen it if new evidence is received.

Portland police spokeswoman Detective Mary Wheat said police didn't go to the hotel or talk to the woman's friends because it wouldn't help prove or disprove the woman's allegations.

"We're not disputing Al Gore was in the hotel room with this woman," Wheat said. "The two people in that room were Mr. Gore and this woman. If a bellhop came in and saw something, that would be different."

Gore hasn't been charged in this case.

His accuser could be seizing an opportunity, hoping to gain from Gore's highly publicized split from his wife, Tipper. She could be lying.

In any event, I don't think this is a good time for Gore to be lecturing about capitalism and greed.

At the moment, he's tabloid fodder. He belongs on Jerry Springer, not published in the Wall Street Journal.

Maybe, like the disgraced Eliot Spitzer, Gore can redeem himself someday and host a show on CNN.

Kagan is Not Gay

Here's important news:

Elena Kagan has been outed by friends. She is not gay.

That's too bad. I really wanted her to be gay. Darn!

From Politico:

Elena Kagan is not a lesbian, one of her best friends told POLITICO Tuesday night, responding to persistent rumors and innuendo about the Supreme Court nominee’s personal life.

“I’ve known her for most of her adult life and I know she’s straight,” said Sarah Walzer, Kagan’s roommate in law school and a close friend since then. “She dated men when we were in law school, we talked about men — who in our class was cute, who she would like to date, all of those things. She definitely dated when she was in D.C. after law school, when she was in Chicago – and she just didn’t find the right person.”

Walzer, half amused and half appalled to be discussing her friend’s sexual orientation, agreed to be interviewed after Kagan’s supporters decided they should tactfully put an end to the rumor, which White House officials had already tried to squelch in background interviews with reporters. She said she decided to talk to POLITICO because the discussion of Kagan’s personal life has become a “distraction.”

“It’s taking away from substantive discussion of the issues from a really substantive person who deserves to be given the opportunity to address the substantive issues,” she said.

Another friend, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, a member of Kagan’s social circle at Princeton University, wanted to make the same point as Walzer. “I did not go out with her, but other guys did,” he said in an email Tuesday night. “I don't think it is my place to say more.”

The rumor about Kagan has circulated for months on gay blogs and became a matter of controversy when it was cited as fact by a conservative blogger on the website of CBS News, drawing a sharp White House rebuttal. It has, since, been a source of particular fascination in some socially conservative circles and particularly among gay and lesbian political observers, some of whom objected volubly Tuesday to a Wall Street Journal cover image of Kagan playing softball, which they perceived as a jab at a stereotype of lesbians.

...The rumors that Kagan is gay, Walzer said, were current before she became a public figure, and a source of frustration to Kagan and her friends – who were frustrated by their persistence, but worried that denying them could imply some anti-gay prejudice.

“There is this assumption that people make at a single point about women who get to their 40s or 50s and never marry that it must be because they’re gay,” Walzer said. “It’s just usually that they don’t get nominated for the Supreme Court and have everybody talking about them, so nobody really cares.”

So Kagan is just a single woman, a straight single woman.

Oh well.

So much for sexual orientation diversity on the Supreme Court.

I mean, it's the 21st century. Nine straight people on the Court? That's not right.

How can the law be interpreted adequately without the input of a lesbian?

Eliot Spitzer and Elena Kagan

I don't know why the lib media tapped Eliot Spitzer to promote Elena Kagan.

Eliot Spitzer?

The former governor of New York who resigned in disgrace after a sordid prostitution scandal?

Why would they trot him out?

Who cares about a spaghetti eating contest?

Oh, by all means, put Kagan on the Supreme Court!

The fact is character matters. Spitzer is not a worthy endorsement. He's an embarrassment.

Ashley Dupre: 'Ask Ashley'

In March, it will be one year since New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was exposed as "Client 9." Spitzer, crime crusader, found himself on the wrong side of the law in a prostitution ring.

Spitzer lost a lot. He resigned and left office in disgrace.

It's a different story for Ashley Dupre, the whore involved with Spitzer. She's actually gained from the scandal. She's transformed her notoriety into a job at the New York Post, writing a weekly advice column.

Meet Ashley the advice columnist. Video.

What's with the glasses? Is that a sign that this former whore is now an intelligent woman wise enough to give advice to others? Is that part of the makeover from prostitute into someone to be taken seriously? From the New York Post:

Ask Ashley Spitzer's babe answers all your love-life questions!
Sure, she's made some mistakes. But now Ashley Dupre, the former escort who brought down Gov. Eliot Spitzer, is sharing what she's learned in her new sex, love and relationship column -- exclusively in the New York Post. Is your husband cheating? Is your daughter on a dangerous path? Our readers asked -- and Ashley fired back with her no-nonsense advice.
It's a good thing that Dupre has turned her life around and she's no longer turning tricks for a living. I think I'm right in assuming she gave up that line of work, but I can't be sure.

For the sake of discussion, let's assume Dupre's whoring days are behind her.

I don't think the New York Post would have given Dupre her own column if not for her fame as being Spitzer's whore.

She's being rewarded because of the illegal activities in her past and the fact that her lawbreaking by chance included a shameless, hypocritical governor. That doesn't seem right to me.

It's hard to believe that Dupre is actually writing the column on her own. I am doubtful that she has the ability to analyze moral issues and then express herself in a coherent manner. There must be a ghostwriter involved.

I wonder why those at the Post believe readers would want to take advice about sex, love, and relationships from Dupre. The woman's judgment hasn't exactly been the best.

Good grief.

Letterman, Sarah Palin: Apology? (Video)

David Letterman addressed the firestorm of criticism he's received for his tasteless, offensive, disgusting "jokes" about Sarah Palin and her 14-year-old daughter, Willow.

He didn't really apologize at all. He denied. He clarified, and his clarification was often in a mocking, condescending manner.

He retold the "jokes."

The audience responded with laughter and extended applause.

Letterman insisted the "joke" about Palin's daughter had nothing to do with her 14-year-old daughter.

That, of course, doesn't make sense. Palin went to the Yankee game with her 14-year-old daughter, Willow. She didn't go with her 18-year-old daughter, Bristol.

I suppose CBS was bombarded with tons of negative reaction to Letterman's horrible jokes. Letterman probably felt forced to explain himself, especially given the sensitive nature of the subject matter.

It's not cool for old man Letterman to be talking about a teenage girl, daughter of the governor of Alaska, getting knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.

It is awful timing to have this sort of controversy when he's going up against Conan O'Brien as the new host of the Tonight Show.

Transcript

DAVID LETTERMAN:
This will take some time so I hope you're comfortable at home. Think about what's happened here in the last couple of days. And if you think you'd like to get yourself a talk show... (Smirks, chuckles).

We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news, and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and, uh, her, uh, daughter, the 18-year-old girl, who is, uh, her name is, uh, Bristol, that's right. And uh, so then, now they're upset with me. Let me read you how upset they are because I didn't realize this till today.

And keep in mind I can't really defend these. They're just jokes. And it's like with everything. Some jokes are fine. Some jokes are not fine. And, you know, of course we make mistakes left and right. But listen to how upset these people are about the jokes. And when I say 'these people' I mean Gov. Palin and her husband, Todd.

This is on their official website. I gotta get me one of them websites.

The Governor's spokeswoman Meg Stapleton sent these two statements, the first from Todd. Todd is the Governor's husband in Alaska. And Todd says, "Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too." (Mugs and smirks)

Yeah, think about getting yourself a talk show.

Uh, the next statement is actually from the Governor herself, who by the way is an absolutely lovely woman. I would love, I would love to have her on the show. I think we can put these differences behind us.

The next comment comes from Gov. Palin: "Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity...'

I am hardly a celebrity. I'm 62. Yes. (Laughter and applause)

'...aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands - that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contribute to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"

(Laughter and groans)

I completely agree with that, absolutely completely agree with that. That's not what I did.

Here now are the jokes that they're upset about.

(Applause)

You know, this very well could be my last show. (Laughter) I don't know why we all find that amusing.

OK, this is the joke. Now, it all happened because Sarah Palin was visiting New York City. And she was in town with her daughter and her husband, Todd. They were doing stuff. They were at a Yankee game.

OK, here's the jokes: "Sarah Palin was in New York this week. The hardest part of the trip was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter."

(Laughter)

Now that's... I'm surprised we haven't heard from Eliot Spitzer either.

Now, I'm not necessarily proud of these jokes. I mean, we do stuff all the time, and our objective here is to get a laugh. And thank God, you know, we don't have to go to the Hague and before the World Court to defend them. It's a joke. That's all it's supposed to be. That's what this is.

Now here's the other joke they're upset about: "Sarah Palin went to a Yankees game yesterday. There was one awkward moment during the 7th inning stretch. Her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

(Laughter and applause)

Now, I'm telling you, I recognize that these are ugly. These are actually ugly. These are borderline, but again, in an act of desperation to get cheap laughs, which is what I've been doing for the last 30 years... Why didn't we hear from Alex Rodriguez?

But now, everything the Governor and Todd said I absolutely agree with.

These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl. I mean, look at my record. It has never happened. I don't think it's funny. I would never think it was funny. I wouldn't put it in a joke.

Here's where you draw the line. Yes, maybe these are questionable because the girl, who actually, excuse me, but was knocked up, is now 18-years-old. So the difference there is 14-years-old and of legal age. OK, now I can't really defend the joke. I agree... unpleasant, ugly. But I would never, never think that it was funny to use a 14-year-old girl as a joke like this, for God's sakes.

Now, here's the other joke they're upset about: (Laughter and applause)

"Top Ten... This is a Top Ten. The category: Top Ten Highlights of Sarah Palin's Trip to New York... Number 2. Bought makeup at Bloomingdale's to update her 'slutty flight attendant' look."

(Laughter and applause)

Now, the only thing I can say about this is I kinda like that joke.

So, summing up now... And I'm gonna ask questions and then answer them.

Were the jokes in question in questionable taste? Of course they were.

Do I regret having told them? Well, I think probably I do. But you know what? There are thousands of jokes I regret telling on this program.

Would I do anything to advocate or contribute to underage sexual abuse or misconduct? Absolutely not, not in a thousand years. Look at me. Do I look like I'm trying to make trouble? No, no, no.

So, with that in mind, Gov. Palin, if you're watching (Pause), I would like you to consider coming to New York City, you and Todd as my guests, or leave Todd at home (Applause). I'd love to have you on the show, be exciting.

So there. I hope I've cleared part of this up.

Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes.

Did I suggest that it was OK for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No. (Smirk)

Maybe it wasn't intentional. Maybe Letterman's writers were too stupid to check their facts.

BUT-- Letterman was taking a story out of the news and using it for a joke. Willow Palin, 14, was at the game, not Bristol, 18. It's completely understandable that people would assume Letterman's tasteless "joke" was referencing the Palin daughter who was at the game. Letterman never said he was referring to Bristol.

I believe it's possible that Letterman and his writers didn't know what they were doing.

It's also possible that Letterman is just engaging in CYA, but not too much. Letterman didn't back down. He didn't apologize for making such crude jokes at the expense of the children of the Governor of Alaska.

He never talked about mistaking the 14-year-old for the 18-year-old.

Letterman didn't take any responsibility.

He acted as if he had been judged unfairly.

Letterman even joked about the controversy in his monologue, continuing to needle Sarah Palin. He was hardly remorseful. He just seemed to want to try to clear his name. I bet Letterman was really pissed off about the charges made by Gov. Palin and her husband, Todd.

Letterman wasn't apologetic. He was defensive.

Whatever the case may be, whether he's being honest or not, I think there's some justice here in that Letterman's hate and cruelty toward Sarah Palin and her family has come back to bite him, hard.

Then again, Letterman could be enjoying this. This controversy might boost his ratings. However, that would only be temporary.

Letterman continues to do damage to himself. He seems very stubborn. He's not funny anymore. His ugly and demeaning jokes overshadow any bits of witty, enjoyable material. He's bitter and twisted. If he has always been like that, I didn't recognize it years ago. I think he's changed.

It's actually sad in a way. Pathetic.

Video.

UPDATE, June 11, 2009: ABC News -- Gov. Palin pushed back at Letterman again this morning, issuing a statement via Palin PAC spokesperson Meghan Stapelton.

"The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show," Stapelton said in an email to ABC News. "Plus, it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman."

Jay Leno: Eliot Spitzer a Republican

This is Jay Leno's final week as host of the Tonight Show.

The writers are getting a little sloppy.

From Monday night's monologue:

JAY LENO: A lot of fun stuff happening with the Republicans... John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, has declared that she is a pro-sex Republican. That's what she said, pro-sex Republican.

Don't confuse that with other Republicans, like Sen. Vitter and Eliot Spitzer. They like to get their sex from a pro. That's totally different.

That punch line doesn't work. Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former governor of New York, is a DEMOCRAT.

Apparently, none of the writers or Leno know that. If they want to slam Republicans, they should at least get their facts straight.

Is Leno ready for prime time?

Mayor Gary Becker Arrested, Released on Bond

UPDATE, January 20, 2009: Mayor Gary Becker Resigns
______________

UPDATE, January 15, 2009: The Criminal Complaint, and the copy of Gary Becker's 1/12/2009 - 1/13/2009 online chat with Hope_Ulikeme14.
______________

Racine Mayor Gary Becker, DEMOCRAT, is out of jail, but he's not a free man.

Mayor Gary Becker (Booking photo)

From the Racine Journal Times:

Mayor Gary Becker has been arrested on multiple felony charges related to attempted sexual assault of a child and having child pornography, according to a state agency.

Becker was taken into custody at Brookfield Square Mall in Brookfield on Tuesday afternoon. He was arrested on charges of child enticement, possession of child pornography, exposing a child to harmful materials, attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and misconduct in public office, according to the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.

...Upon his arrest Becker was transported to the Kenosha County Jail, where he remained until early Wednesday evening. He was released about 5:30 p.m., a little more than an hour after sister-in-law Jean Becker posted his bond, which had been set at $165,000 cash.

His attorney, Patrick Cafferty, said the family borrowed money to post the bond. Cafferty picked Becker up at the jail.

Becker's family came up with a lot of cash awfully fast.

I can't imagine what Becker's reunion with family members was like.

...With charges coming out of the Racine County District Attorney’s Office, at least some of the alleged illegal activity must have happened here. The Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office could have filed charges, because Becker was arrested there, but Racine County has kept the case. Nieskes said his office is keeping Waukesha County informed about the case.

...Bill Cosh, a spokesman for DCI, said Wednesday he was unable to provide any further details on their investigation. It has not been released where the child pornography was found, but City Attorney Rob Weber said no search warrants had been executed at City Hall.

Cosh would not say whether Becker’s arrest was part of an online sting through DCI’s Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Sex scandals and politicians go together like love and marriage, a horse and carriage, whatever and whatever.

There have been a slew of high-profile scandals.

Sen. Larry Craig's foot tapping in a bathroom stall at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport introduced the practice and protocol of anonymous bathroom sex to many Americans. The incident, a misdemeanor charge, seemed to dominate the news interminably.

Gov. Eliot Spitzer's political career crashed and burned because he had a penchant for high-priced call-girls, spending tens of thousands of dollars on whores. No charges were brought against Spitzer, the crusader.

The mother of all political sex scandals has to be Bill Clinton having sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky, and his months and months of lies. He lied under oath, and he lied to Hillary, and he lied to his political allies and enemies, and he lied to the American people. If not for the blue dress, Clinton would never have come clean. He'd probably still be lying today about being a victim of a vast Right-wing conspiracy.

Wisconsin has had mayoral sex scandals. Milwaukee waded through the John Norquist - Marilyn Figueroa mess.

None of that compares to the multiple felony charges facing Gary Becker. Nothing is as bad as a sexual crime against a child. If Becker is found guilty of any of the charges, his political career is over. There's no way he can salvage his life as a public official. Being a sex offender isn't good to have on one's resumé. He'll drag that distinction around with him forever.

BRETT FAVRE! HOW COULD YOU?

This is a story I don't want to believe.

But I wouldn't be surprised if it is true.

When Brett Favre and the Packers had that nightmarish slow-motion parting back in July and August, it was clear that there was a lot of bitterness.

If it had to be, I wished it could have been less ugly. The Packers organization looked bad and Favre looked like anything but a team player. It really was a mess.

It was all so sad to me, this breakup between my Packers and my quarterback.

Things just got messier.

Jay Glazer writes:

This week Jets quarterback Brett Favre caused a significant stir in The Big D when he curiously pushed Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo into playing this week, or at least giving it a shot with a broken pinkie. Favre reportedly talked Romo into sucking it up to play, and rather than missing Sunday's game, he was listed as the No. 2 behind Brad Johnson.

It turns out the Cowboys aren't the only team this year the New York Jets signal caller has spent time talking to.

Several sources have told FOX Sports that Favre earlier this year phoned the Detroit Lions prior to their battle versus Favre's old team, the Green Bay Packers, and gave them a rundown of the nuances of what Green Bay does on offense. According to the sources, Favre actually spent over an hour on the phone with Lions coaches, who were connected with Favre by then-team president Matt Millen.

While the Lions still lost and the Packers and Favre's replacement Aaron Rodgers played well, it's still baffling that the Packers legend would spend such a significant chunk of time giving tips to an opponent of his long-time franchise.

Other teams the Packers have played had also heard about the Favre coaching clinic with Detroit. In addition, there have been rumors that Favre has spoken to other teams giving them information, but most of those teams insist they have not heard from the famed gunslinger.

However, another team says it has had casual talks in the past with Favre and talked about some of what Green Bay does, but it was nowhere near the details he let loose to the Lions.

First off--

It's bothered me that Favre has never called Aaron Rodgers with any words of encouragement. He's yapping it up with Tony Romo about his broken pinkie finger, but he doesn't have any contact with Aaron. That's weird.

Aaron sustained a painful injury and he didn't get a pep talk from Favre. They were teammates. He was Favre's backup for three years! Nothing from Favre.

Injury or no injury, it would have been big of Favre to offer Aaron some words of support along the way, especially considering the pressure Favre's drama put on Aaron.

There's no disputing these allegations. It's a fact that the veteran quarterback hasn't talked to Aaron.

That move alone is classless on Favre's part.

In regard to the allegations about Favre initiating contact with the Lions to offer up information about about his former team's offense in an effort to undermine the Packers--

It's sickening; sickening but not out of the realm of possibility.

My opinion of Favre changed dramatically after he jetted off to New York and held that press conference with his new team.

At the time, I was still reeling from the fact that Favre would be playing for a team other than the Packers. I couldn't bear the thought of seeing him play in a jersey other than the green and gold.

After 17 years, I thought I knew something about Favre's character. It came as a surprise to me, a disappointment that he was willing to hurt his former teammates and all the Green Bay fans just to stick it to Ted Thompson.

...Favre did admit that his wish for a long time was to find his way onto the roster of either the Minnesota Vikings or the Chicago Bears, the Packers’ NFC North rivals. And it wasn’t because Favre likes the food in those two places.

“Maybe that was a little bit of vindictive nature, or whatever, competitive nature, whatever,” Favre said. “I think in the end, that was probably the wrong motive and I realized that was not going to happen.”

This was a different Favre. He was spiteful. His ego was inflated and on display.

This wasn't the team player I believed him to be.

Favre hates Thompson. OK. But is Favre so selfish and does he care so little for his former teammates and the Green Bay fans that he was willing to disregard the impact a move like going to the Vikings or the Bears would have had?

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

[A] few sharp words were heard when Packers players were told that former quarterback Brett Favre, who was traded to the New York Jets, reportedly went out of his way to help the Detroit Lions prepare their defense for the Packers' offense leading up to their Week 2 game in Detroit.

"He contacted them?" cornerback Charles Woodson said with raised eyebrows. "I don't respect that. If they called him and he gives them information, that's one thing. But to seek a team out, because, you know, I guess you're trying to sabotage this team, you know I don't respect that. I know he's been the greatest player around here for a long time but there's no honor in that."

According to a story reported on Fox's pregame show and later at www.foxsports.com, Favre was put in contact with Lions defensive coaches by former Detroit general manager and CEO Matt Millen, who is friends with Favre. Then for the next 60 to 90 minutes, Favre gave a "dissertation, every single thing that the Green Bay Packers do on offense."

The Lions did not confirm or deny the report after their loss to the Houston Texans. Coach Rod Marinelli said he was aware of the report and said "no comment," when asked about it. Defensive coordinator Joe Barry also did not deny the report.

The report said there were rumors that Favre had given other teams information about the Packers' offense, as well.

Favre was not asked about the report after the Jets' overtime loss to the Raiders in Oakland. But Sports Illustrated writer Peter King said on NBC's pregame show that Favre texted him and said the report was "total B.S."

What does "no comment" tell you?

Refusing to talk suggests there's something to hide.

If the report about Favre and the Lions is not true, why wouldn't Marinelli and Barry dispel the rumors immediately?

It would be very simple for them to unequivocally deny the report.

And here we go again with the text messages. THAT'S total BS. Instead of text messaging Peter King, why doesn't Favre go on the record and clear his name?

I'm sure Greta Van Susteren would be glad to give Favre a forum to put the rumors to rest. Favre could tell the world.

But he's not and that's very telling.

Favre is really tarnishing his image as a Packer legend. His bitterness goes beyond bad blood with Thompson. It's spilling over on to the team and the fans and the storied history of the organization.

If the report is true, Favre's integrity as a player in the NFL and as a man can rightfully be questioned.

If the allegations are reality, I think the Packers should reconsider retiring Favre's number, at least for a long time. When Favre does retire, and that day is fast approaching, he shouldn't be honored by the very team he's actively trying to undermine.

There needs to be a lengthy cooling off period before that happens.

Although Favre broke no league rules if he blabbed to the Lions, he did break a bond with his former teammates and the fans.

I don't want to believe the rumors that Favre is capable of such vindictiveness. Unfortunately, his past behavior leads me to believe otherwise.

On the bright side--

The Packers trounced the Colts yesterday.

For the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, everything worked exactly according to plan. It was textbook efficiency at its finest.

Ball-control, turnover-free offense? Check.

Clingy pass coverage, stubbornness at the point of attack and adequate pressure without extensive blitzing on defense? Check.

Consistency and recklessness on special teams? Other than a missed field goal and a botched onside kick, that was a check, too.

Against the best that the Packers could offer, on a windy 60-degree late afternoon at Lambeau Field, not even the great Peyton Manning and the battle-hardened Indianapolis Colts stood a chance. When coach Tony Dungy's club played with uncharacteristic sloppiness, Green Bay won going away, 34-14.

"That's a good football team and we played a really solid game," tackle Mark Tauscher said. "We're playing a lot better than we were three, four weeks ago. That's what you're looking for."

Green Bay enters its bye week on a two-game winning streak after having lost three in a row. At 4-3, the Packers are tied with Chicago for first place in the NFC North and in a three-way tie for the seventh-best record in the NFC.

What a great win for the Packers!

Note to Favre: Football is a team sport.

Note to Peter King: Text Favre that football is a team sport.

Bill Maher and Jay Leno -- AGAIN

UPDATE, February 10, 2009: Bill Maher and Jay Leno, February 10
___________________

UPDATE, November 19, 2008: Bill Maher and Jay Leno, November 19
___________________

(Screen grab/ NBC)

It seems like Bill Maher was just on the Tonight Show a couple of weeks ago.

Actually, it was the end of August. Still, two appearances in just over two months is too much.

Naturally, Jay Leno and Maher talked about presidential politics.

Maher said that John McCain is getting desperate. His new slogan: "McCain - the White Obama."

"I think he's desperate to get to the White House because the White House is acutally an excellent managed care facility."

How creative! A joke about McCain's age! That Maher is such a comic genius!

He sang Obama's praises and equated him with Jackie Robinson.

Maher said the attacks against Obama now are "veiled racism."

He said that's all the Republicans have at this point. They're just throwing out anything, hoping to hurt Obama.

Maher claimed, "Rush Limbaugh says he's an Arab."

He then quoted Sarah Palin's line, "He's not like us."

Maher made up his own smear: "He's got a big black uncircumcised penis and it smells like curry."

Leno laughed and said he hadn't heard that one. It was clear that the audience wished it hadn't heard it.

Maher said race should be taken off the table.

He said whatever a person writes on the Internet is taken to be true as long as it's not followed with "LOL."

Maher told Leno that he intends to write: "Barack Obama is white. In fact, he's Irish. It's O'Bama."

Obviously, Maher believes that race is preventing people from supporting Obama. He charges a sector with the American population of being racist. They'd vote for O'Bama, but not Obama.

Has Maher considered the possibility that some Americans don't want to vote for Obama because of his extreme liberal positions, his lack of experience, his poor judgment, and his character? Skin color and ethnic identity aren't factors.

Leno asked Maher for his prediction on the outcome of the presidential race.

"I think this race is already over."

Maher blames Sarah Palin for dooming John McCain's bid for the presidency.

He said, "Competence is like pornography. You know it when you see it."

"Gov. Avon Lady just doesn't pass the smell test."

At that, there were some boos, as well as some applause and cheers.

Maher noted that Palin's defenders say she's is a quick study.

He asked, "How stupid was she to begin with?"

Maher called John McCain very brave, "but it's not the Middle Ages."

"We need a smart guy."

The assumption there is that McCain isn't smart, certainly not as smart as Obama.

Maher dug himself a deeper hole when he belittled small town voters, the people who care about values.

"They're narcissists. They want someone just like them -- a dummy."

Maher thinks small town Americans are dumb. How very Hollywood and Obama-esque of him!

The audience didn't like that dummy "joke" at all.

After the commercial break, Maher and Leno talked about the economy.

Maher lamented not having two of the champions of the little man around to help with the crisis.

He cited John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer as the two Democrats who fought for the little guy. He complained that they were forced into exile because of sex scandals.

Maher said, "A lot of girls in America, Jay, are just hos. They want to be hos."

Again, no love from the audience.

Leno called both Edwards and Spitzer hypocrites. Maher would have none of it.

From there, Maher moved on to six-star hotels. Five-star hotels aren't good enough anymore.

He said that at a six-star hotel "when they say, 'Can I help you with your bag?' they mean your scrotum."

The audience did not respond well to that at all. There were audible groans.

Maher was ticked off that the audience wasn't appreciative of his "brilliance." I think he blamed them for not getting it. I doubt he blamed himself for bombing. I don't think he questioned the quality of his material.

After all that "fun," Maher got down to business and hawked his religion-bashing film, Religulous.

Maher claimed that people love the movie. He said the movie doesn't attack religion. What?

Anyway, he went on to discuss his own religious upbringing.

"I'm not bitter. Yes, I was brought up Catholic, but I was never molested. I'm a little insulted."

Sure, I buy Maher's assertion that his movie doesn't attack religion. Why would I doubt him, especially after a comment like that?

Again, his remarks were met with groans of disgust.

For once, Maher didn't receive a lot of positive reinforcement from the audience.

If the reaction of the audience is indicative, I don't think his appearance convinced many people to shell out money to see his movie.

Ashley Dupre's Future

UPDATE, November 19, 2008: Ashley Dupre Exclusive: 'My Side of the Story'

VIDEO.

_________________

Ashley Dupre seems to have won one of life's lotteries.

She happened to be former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's whore and now she stands to make millions of dollars.

From FOX News:

Eliot Spitzer scandal call girl Ashley Dupre is weighing a $2 million deal offered by a veteran reality-show producer that could cast her as "a kind of Dr. Phil," the New York Post reported.

David Krieff, who brought together Amy Fisher and the Buttafuocos and Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding for TV specials, approached Dupre two weeks ago after getting a letter of commitment from an entertainment network and a major studio, he told The Post.

The producer and Dupre's lawyers and publicist have been discussing the details by phone and could seal the deal within the next two weeks, according to Krieff.

"It's a seven-figure deal," said Krieff. "There could be a book. It's an overall exclusive-rights deal," Krieff told the Post. "As far as I know, it's the only deal she's considering."

Krieff said Dupre wants a show "that maybe cleans up her image," and has expressed an interest in journalism and lounge singing.

"She also has a strong desire to give to a charity," he said. "She's very analytical. She wants to help people. She sees herself as a kind of Dr. Phil."

So Dupre is thinking about being a journalist or a lounge singer. That's interesting. Too bad she didn't try those career options out in the first place.

Dupre wants a show to "clean up her image"?

"She sees herself as a kind of Dr. Phil"???

(Dr. Phil must be thrilled.)

Dupre has shown that she has a strong desire to give, but in the past, it's been for her own profit. It seems to me that it still is all about her.

If she's sincere, I think it's great that Dupre wants to clean up her image. However, I don't think she accomplishes that through fame that came because she prostituted herself.

If she has a strong desire to give to a charity, why doesn't she volunteer somewhere?

Perhaps she could donate some of her past earnings to a good cause.

Jay Leno joked in his monologue about Dupre being offered a book deal.

He said that the book will also be available leather bound, but it will cost you extra.

Democrat Party Official Joy Johnson Arrested

The lib media drool over scandals involving Republicans, like Sen. Larry Craig and Rep. Mark Foley.

If a Republican is involved in wrongdoing, it's big news.

Generally speaking, when Dems run amok, it doesn't get the same level of attention. Of course, there are exceptions, such as Eliot Spitzer's dramatic downfall. But even then, media don't stress the fact that the scandal involves a Dem. For example, there weren't headlines blaring that DEMOCRAT New York Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned in shame.

From WorldNetDaily:

A Democratic Party official and her husband are facing charges in connection with alleged satanic rituals involving the kidnap, rape and starvation of another couple in North Carolina.

Joy Johnson, 30, a vice-chairwoman of the Durham County Democratic Party and vice chairwoman of the Young Democrats, made an appearance in court yesterday after she and her spouse, Joseph Craig, were arrested Friday.

Craig, 25, is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon for an incident in January and another in May. Johnson is charged with two counts of aiding and abetting.

According to published and broadcast reports, prosecutors said a man and a woman met Craig through a shared interest in Satan worship, although the couple never consented to any physical abuse.

Craig allegedly shackled his victims to beds, kept them in dog cages and starved them inside his home. Police say he beat the man with a cane and a cord, and raped the woman.

...Along with her interest in the Democratic Party, Johnson is one of the driving forces of a New Age website called "Indigo Dawn," a name which, according to the site, was given to Johnson during a meditation vision.

"She decided to explore the New Age community more, and after taking a course in Reiki healing, experiencing past-life regression along with direct guidance from her spirit guides, she confirmed that her destiny was to help bring about the New Age on Earth," Johnson's online biography states. "Joy shared her vision with her husband, Joe; as a result the Indigo Dawn was founded to raise the vibration of energy on Earth."

Granted, Johnson doesn't hold elected office. She's a DEM Party official in Durham County.

That's not a position of tremendous power by any means, but it's undeniable that Johnson is, or was, active in the DEMOCRAT Party.

WND reports: "State Sen. Floyd McKissick, D-Durham, said he had been told Johnson had resigned her positions with the party."

I would hope she'd resign. Even the DEMS can't excuse Johnson and ignore the charges for her part in "satanic rituals involving the kidnap, rape and starvation of another couple."

If Johnson had been a Republican Party official, I think this would be a bigger national story, putting the emphasis on Johnson's political affiliation.

Ashley Dupré Thanks her Fans

UPDATE, November 19, 2008: Ashley Dupre Exclusive: 'My Side of the Story'

VIDEO.

_________________

BIG NEWS: Ashley Alexandra Dupré is speaking out for the first time!

Isn't that thrilling? No? You can't place the name?

She's Hypocrite of the Year former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's whore.

Dupré has a message for all her fans, and her critics as well. (Fans???)

FOX News links to Dupré's MySpace page:

Hey everyone...Let me just start by saying THANK YOU ALL, for your support!! I have not had the time to be on myspace that much...BUT I have been trying to get on here to approve pending friend requests and catch up on e-mails & comments. Sorry it is taking me so long!! All of my pending friend requests from 3/12 through now were deleted by myspace (if you do not approve them within a certain number of days, they get deleted) so...please please please re-send and you should be approved automatically. Again, thank you all so much for taking the time to send me a bit of strength and inspiration via email or comment, your words have touched me and I thank you for that...with all my heart, I love you guys!!! :) ...and to all the not so kind words...I love you too, because it makes me push myself and want it even more. "Hard times don't last...only strong people".

xxA

Aww, isn't that sweet?

In a remarkably self-serving move, Dupré highlights some of the "inspirational mail" she received. She publishes the messages that call her a star, beautiful, intelligent, an American icon. (An American icon???)

Of course, she publishes messages that praise her tremendous talent and encourage her to press ahead with her brilliant musical career.

I found this one amusing:

"Keep your head up. Don't let others make you suffer for what isn't your fault."

Dupré can't be blamed for Eliot Spitzer's fate. He is 100 percent responsible for being a liar and an adulterer and a hypocrite.

However, if Dupré has suffered because of the notoriety that being one of America's best known prostitutes brings, that's definitely her fault. She brought that on herself.

Actually, I find this one disturbing:

You were doing your thing and having fun...thats all that matters.

No, that's NOT all that matters. When doing your thing means engaging in illegal activities, that's a societal issue. Contributing to the "women as objects" mentality shouldn't be a fun thing.

This message stood out, too:

"Remember, like Eleanor Roosevelt said: "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent." Hope everything goes well and that you had a wonderful Easter! :) Janna"

I don't know. I don't think Eleanor Roosevelt would have given Dupré a pep talk. My guess is Roosevelt, a strong woman and true American icon, would have pointed out that being a whore is not a good career choice and in no way empowering.

I sincerely hope that Dupré turns her life around. Rather than blathering about her "fans," she could use her time in the spotlight to encourage others to learn from her mistakes. She could warn others to respect themselves enough not to be part of an illegal call girl operation. As Ms. Bad Example, she could help others.

Unfortunately, Dupré doesn't take that route.

There's nothing wrong with thanking people for kindness. I'm sure the messages of support helped her and she appreciates them. It's totally appropriate to acknowledge the support.

We've all made mistakes and bad decisions. Dupré made a BIG mistake. She used terrible judgment, but I don't think she sees it that way. She doesn't seem to regret her choices.

That's sad.

It's disheartening that factions of American society glorify her behavior and reward her for it.

Ashley Dupre: Spitzer's Whore Takes the Legal Road

UPDATE, November 19, 2008: Ashley Dupre Exclusive: 'My Side of the Story'

VIDEO.

______________

UPDATE, July 5, 2008: Spitzer call girl drops 'Girls Gone Wild' lawsuit
______________

One of Eliot Spitzer's whores, the now infamous whore, Ashley Alexandra Dupre, is trying to make big bucks in the courthouse.

Dupre gained notoriety in March when it came out that she was the high-priced call girl named "Kristen" named in court documents who was hired by Spitzer for at least one tryst at a posh Washington hotel. Spitzer, known as "Client 9" in the documents, resigned as New York governor a few days after the scandal broke.

["Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe] Francis made a public $1 million offer for Dupre to appear in a "Girls Gone Wild" video and go on a promotional tour, then rescinded the offer after he realized he already had footage of Dupre from 2003. Dupre's lawyer warned she was only 17 when the video was shot, not 18 as Francis claimed.

Francis said in March that Dupre spent a week on a "Girls Gone Wild" bus and made seven full-length tapes after signing release papers. He also said he bought her a bus ticket home to North Carolina.

Francis said he was surprised by the lawsuit.

"It is incomprehensible that Ms. Dupre could claim she did not give her consent to be filmed by Girls Gone Wild, when in fact we have videotape of her giving consent, while showing her identification," Francis said in a statement.

He said the photos were taken "in front of a room full of people, including two newspapers and multiple crews we had in the room." Francis also said he would be happy to discuss the $1 million offer with her again.

The lawsuit claims Dupre is the victim of unfair trade practices, false advertising and unauthorized use of her likeness.

I think the immoral Spitzer was an idiot for paying Dupre so much.

Hopefully, a jury won't make a $10 million mistake. I think it's highly unlikely.

The lawsuit does give the whore Dupre attention and puts her back in the spotlight. That might be worth it to her, the media whore.

Once a whore always a whore?

NY Gov. David Paterson: Sex and Drugs and...?

New York has had a new governor for one week. David Paterson replaced the disgraced Eliot Spitzer after it was revealed that the ruthless, unforgiving, tough guy, Mr. Clean Spitzer was a client of prostitutes.

A day after Paterson took the reins of government, he revealed that he had not been faithful to his wife. The couple both had affairs.

Gov. David A. Paterson acknowledged on Tuesday that he had had several extramarital relationships, including one with a state employee, but said he had done nothing illegal and had been faithful to his wife in recent years.

Mr. Paterson said he made the disclosure because he wanted to clear his conscience and avoid being blackmailed. He said he hoped his openness about his past affairs would help him to gain the trust of New Yorkers and move forward to focus on governing.

“I didn’t want to be compromised, I didn’t want to be blackmailed, I didn’t want to hesitate taking an action because the person on the other end might hurt me or my family,” Mr. Paterson, a Democrat, said during the tense and often awkward appearance with his wife, Michelle Paige Paterson, at his side. “I just thought this was the time to come forward and reveal this.”

Mr. Paterson said no state funds had been used as he carried out his affairs. He said he may have used his campaign credit card for some expenses that he did not detail, but said, if so, he would have reimbursed his campaign for the spending.

Mr. Paterson’s revelation comes less than a week after Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who was caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a prostitute, resigned, and a former governor of New Jersey, James E. McGreevey, and his estranged wife publicly traded claims about the nature of their sex life together.

Mr. Paterson said he had asked Mr. Spitzer to delay the effective date of his resignation until Monday as he grappled with how much to disclose about his past infidelities.

“I didn’t know that I was even going to be here until last Wednesday,” he said, referring to the office of governor. “I put it back a few days to try and organize things, and this is one of the issues I just want to get straight with New York’s citizens so that they know who their governor is and that their governor takes this office seriously.”

...Just after the swearing-in, while Mr. Paterson’s supporters were still celebrating, the new administration was plunged into its first crisis, as a Daily News columnist inquired about a past affair and Mr. Paterson and his mostly untested advisers debated how to handle the matter.

The governor and his wife told the columnist that they had each strayed during the marriage, and then Ms. Paterson, an executive at the Health Insurance Plan of New York, canceled a morning appearance in Manhattan and came to the capital to meet the crush of reporters.

Last week, Paterson put his sex life on the table.

This week, he's talking about his past illicit drug use.

NEW YORK -- New York's new governor, who disclosed last week that he and his wife both committed adultery several years ago, said Monday that he used cocaine in his 20s and smoked marijuana when he was younger.

In reference to cocaine, Gov. David Paterson, 53, said in a television interview that he "tried it a couple of times" when he was "about 22 or 23."

"And marijuana probably when I was about 20," he said on the NY1 cable news station. "I don't think I touched marijuana since the '70s."

"More Americans have tried a lot more during that period of time and gone on to lead responsible lives and hopefully have lived their lives to their fullest," he said.

...In Monday's interview, Paterson pointed out that he had acknowledged to a television journalist in 2006 that he had used illegal drugs.

It's good that Paterson was already on the record as a user of cocaine and pot.

He wasn't hiding it. However, I do think it was a mistake for him to say, "More Americans have tried a lot more during that period of time."

I don't think the governor should be sounding like a kid making an excuse. His assertion that "more Americans have tried a lot more" is irrelevant. Rather than assuming full responsibility for his activities, he chose to say that illicit drug users have "gone on to lead responsible lives."

Hear that kids?

You can use drugs and break laws and be governor.

If there are any other skeletons in Paterson's closet, he should bring them out now. It's better that he get any other negative tales out there rather than letting the press or his political opponents control the narrative.

With all these recent revelations and scandals, I feel that I know more about the governors of New York and New Jersey than I do about Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle.

Can you imagine Doyle being involved in a prostitution ring?

Thankfully, I cannot.
