Obama Administration Shut Down H1N1 Testing

From The Blaze:
In October 2009, CBS News released the findings from a three-month-long investigation into how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were reporting H1N1 cases during the swine flu pandemic.

"In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for H1N1 flu, and stopped counting individual cases," CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson wrote. "The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?"

"Some public health officials privately disagreed with the decision to stop testing and counting, telling CBS News that continued tracking of this new and possibly changing virus was important because H1N1 has a different epidemiology, affects younger people more than seasonal flu and has been shown to have a higher case fatality rate than other flu virus strains," the report said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website confirms the CBS News report.

"Individual case counts were kept early during the 2009 H1N1 outbreak when the 2009 H1N1 virus first emerged," the CDC website reads. "As the outbreak expanded and became more widespread, individual case counts become increasingly impractical and not representative of the true extent of the outbreak."
Well done, Obama/Biden administration!

U.S. Stockpile of N95 Masks

Why did Obama permit that to happen?

Nice legacy.

Biden: 'We Have to Take Care of the Cure'

JOE BIDEN: We have to take care of the cure. That will make the problem worse no matter what, no matter what. We know what has to be done.
No one can possibly consider Biden mentally capable of being president of the United States.

Truly disturbing.

This is horrible, "watching a yo-yo."

Way back in 2009, Democrats/Leftists questioned Biden's mental status.

Biden's Swine Flu Panic

In April 2009, Joe Biden appeared on NBC's Today show. In an interview with Matt Lauer, Biden made remarks about Swine Flu that caused a panic.

From Breitbart:

In an interview Thursday on NBC’s “Today” show, Biden said, “I would tell members of my family — and I have — I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now,” Biden said on NBC’s “Today” show.. “It’s not that it’s going to Mexico. It’s [that] you’re in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That’s me. …

“So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation. If you’re out in the middle of a field when someone sneezes, that’s one thing. If you’re in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it’s a different thing.”

A little more than one hour later, Biden rushed out a statement backing off.

Biden’s remarks contradicted more restrained advice from President Barack Obama and the federal government — and the last thing the White House wants to do right now is shut down the airline industry and big-city subways out of mass panic.

Joe Biden was a buffoon back in 2009.

I can't believe the Democrat party is comfortable with him as their chosen one.

Obama on 'The View' - Video

Obama appears on The View this morning.

Maybe next week he'll be on The Price is Right.

"Barack Obama! Come on down!"

Here's a little video tease from ABC News:

Obama greeted each View lady with a kiss before taking his seat on the set. All that kissing was like Richard Dawson on Family Feud. Very strange.

Obama began by delivering an obviously rehearsed line: "I was trying to find a show that Michelle actually watched, and so I thought that this is it, right here. All those new shows, she's like, 'eh, let me get the clicker.'"

The "clicker"?

Like, is that really what Michelle does and says?

Here's another video snippet, a typical Barbara Walters question:

Every rose has its thorn.

In an exclusive preview clip that aired on "World News" tonight, Barbara Walters asked the president what the recent high and low points of his time in office had been.

"In the last month what has been the rose and what has been the thorn?" she asked, referring to an Obama family tradition of taking stock of their lives.

"In the last month the rose has to be a couple of days we took in Maine with Michelle, Sasha and Malia," he said. "They're full of opinions and ideas and observations and it's just a great age ... Malia just turned 12 and Sasha 9. Couldn't been a better couple of days."

Asked what the "thorn" had been, the president answered with his own question.

"Where do I begin?" he asked, getting a laugh from the audience.

"Obviously the country has gone through a tough stretch. Since I took office when I was sworn in ... the last 20 months have been a nonstop effort to restart the economy, to stabilize the financial system, to make sure we are creating jobs and not losing them."

Obama also cited the BP oil spill and battling the H1N1 swine flu "pandemic" as recent thorns.

H1N1?

What an odd thing for Obama to bring up, especially since the government bungled that so badly! Anyway, that was hardly a recent "thorn."

It's one thing for a candidate to go on The View, but a sitting U.S. President?

Embarrassing.

Waukesha and Milwaukee Swine Flu Vaccine Clinics

Waukesha! Come one, come all!

Milwaukee, don't show up unless you're in a targeted group.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, posted online November 16:

Waukesha County's Public Health Division will hold more flu clinics this week and is targeting a wider group of people - adding adults with medical conditions - to receive the H1N1 vaccine.

Both the nasal mist and injectable forms of vaccine will be provided to Waukesha County residents who meet the following classifications:

All children ages 6 months to 18 years; people who live with or provide care for infants 6 months or younger, including parents, siblings and care providers; pregnant women; adults ages 18 through 64 who have chronic medical conditions; and health care workers and emergency medical responders.

The clinics will be held at the Waukesha County Expo Center Forum Building on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 6:30 p.m. both days, unless the vaccine supply runs out sooner.

It turns out that Waukesha County is offering the vaccine to anyone.

From WISN, posted November 17:

The Waukesha County Health Department said all Waukesha County residents are welcome to its upcoming H1N1 vaccine clinics.

There are two currently scheduled:

Thursday, Nov. 19 -- 1 to 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 24 -- 1 to 6:30 p.m.

If you live in Waukesha County, anyone can get the vaccine.

If you live in Milwaukee County, you still have to be in a targeted group.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, posted November 17:

The Milwaukee Health Department has scheduled two more public clinics to administer the swine flu vaccine.

People in the target groups can receive vaccinations from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sarah Scott School, 1017 N. 12th St., or from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at South Division High School, 1515 W. Lapham Blvd.

The target groups are:

• pregnant women.

• people 6 months to 24 years old.

• caregivers and household contacts of infants younger than 6 months.

• people ages 25 to 64 with underlying medical conditions.

• healthcare workers who have direct contact with patients.

The health department said wait times for the vaccine may exceed an hour. To speed up the process, people can print and fill out the clinic consent form for vaccination in advance. The form is posted at www.milwaukee.gov/health.

Whether or not you have access to the vaccine is based on where you live. That doesn't seem right.

Waukesha has enough to open up its clinics to all, but Milwaukee apparently does not.

What's weird is what Paul Biedrzycki, the Milwaukee Health Department, had to say to Charles Benson, TMJ 4.

"Demand hasn't been anywhere near what we initially expected," said Paul Biedrzycki at the Milwaukee Health Department.

He wants more vaccines from the state but he also wants more people to want the shot.

"We certainly expected a lot more wanting the vaccine and that has not been the case," said Biedrzycki.

By mid November, the city expected 50,000 swine flu doses but it has received fewer than half. It also wanted to vaccinate 30 to 40 percent of the city but so far, only 3 percent have shown up at clinics.

Perhaps demand for the vaccine would be greater if Milwaukee opened up the clinics to anyone wishing to get it.

What's Biedrzycki whining about?

If you open the clinics to all, they will come.

CDC: 4000 Swine Flu Deaths, Vaccine Shortages

FACT: The Obama administration has failed miserably in handling the H1N1 outbreak.

The messages have been all over the map.

"It's an emergency. You must get vaccinated."

"Sorry, no vaccine is available."

"Be patient. The vaccine is coming."

"Don't hold your breath."

"Blame the eggs, not Obama."

The only consistent message: Sneeze into your sleeze.

ATLANTA -- Federal health officials now say that 4,000 or more Americans likely have died from swine flu — about four times the estimate they've been using.

The new, higher figure was first reported by The New York Times. It includes deaths caused by complications related to swine flu, including pneumonia and bacterial infections. Until now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had conservatively put the U.S. swine flu death count at more than 1,000. Officials said this week they're working on an even more accurate calculation.

The CDC says "many millions" of Americans have caught the pandemic flu virus since it first appeared in April.

What is going on?

Why put out this enormous jump in the number of deaths now?

Is the administration incompetent? Yes.

Does the administration lack transparency? Yes.

Here's a must-read letter by William Piercey Sr. to the Editor of the Southeast Missourian:

The new era of government control over our lives and freedoms has begun. This week, it got personal, and I felt helpless.

The doctor overseeing my health care advised me to get an H1N1 flu shot. I've been under a six-year treatment program for a chronic infection, plus I have heart and lung problems. Therefore, I am considered a high risk. Fortunately, my doctor had three shots available, but I would have to get approval from my county health department. Much to my surprise, the woman at the health department apologized and told me that even though I was a senior citizen at high risk, the health department had been instructed to approve shots only for children and pregnant mothers. I asked when a shot for my situation might be available. "We really don't know. Check back with us sometime in December."

What? The terrorist detainees in Gitmo are getting shots this month. Why not a high-risk senior citizen?

Mr. Obama, this is what we call health care rationing, which you claim won't happen under a government-run health care program.

If George W. Bush was considered the Barney Fife of executive power, then welcome to the Chicago-style politics of the new Vito Corleone family. The president himself, like a strong-armed enforcer, said in a nationally televised speech, "If you misrepresent anything in this plan, I will call you out." This administration has turned the once dignified and esteemed Oval Office into a war room for its liberal propaganda.

On his first day in office, the president signed the Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Personnel executive order. During the campaign he vowed to keep lobbyists out of the administration. But in Section 3 of this order is a waiver clause. The director of the Office of Management and Budget "may grant" a written waiver of any restrictions. Former lobbyists were given waivers and now hold key positions in government. Mr. Obama, you lied.

At the same time lobbyists were coming in the front door, dozens of new unvetted, hand-picked ideologues were being shuttled in the back door. Many of these people were placed in key policymaking positions. U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine was worried about 18 of these unvetted czars, 10 of whom worked in the White House. An amendment to force these appointees to testify in oversight hearings was shot down by the Democratic leadership. Collins was especially concerned about Carol Browner, who negotiated fuel-economy standards with the auto industry. She even sent a letter to Obama, and one of his counsels replied that no one would be made available. This administration fears no one, especially a senator who dares to enforce something as minor as checks and balances. Obama promised transparency. He lied.

On the topic of transparency, the $787 billion stimulus bill was a progressive Trojan horse. It's loaded with political favors and programs that set up the infrastructure for education, health care and climate change. It was passed and signed in a matter of weeks. This was not a bill to put Americans back to work. Obama said it would produce 3.5 million jobs in two years. Over the past year the administration has changed its story daily but finally settled on the "create or save" propaganda. Obama also said the bill would keep unemployment under 8 percent. The rate has climbed to over 10 percent. Either his economic advisers are incompetent and need to be fired, or, once again, Mr. President, you lied.

Mr. President, you said you didn't want to run our car companies and banks, but you do. With the $350 billion in TARP funds left by President Bush, Obama's people continued the surge of bailouts. Americans might be shocked to know the recipients of bailout money now total 727 institutions. This government control in the private sector is unprecedented.

Government-run health care, card check, cap-and-trade, net neutrality, control of radio stations and possible newspaper bailouts are just part of this administration's agenda.

It's time for Americans to get in this government's face and call it out. This coup d'etat can be defeated. We have the numbers, the votes and the will power to turn back this assault on our individual freedoms.

With 15 million unemployed Americans, I'm sure we can find a few willing patriots to fill all those upcoming vacant seats in Washington, especially with an annual salary of $170,000, office, staff, insurance, expense account and, best of all, a three-day workweek. The only requirements for this job are honesty, integrity and a love of country.

I agree with Mr. Piercey. It's time for Americans to call Obama out.

He has mismanaged the Swine Flu emergency. He's responsible for the man-made disaster of the pandemic.

I want the H1N1 vaccine. I want my family vaccinated.

I wish I lived at Gitmo. Some doses of vaccine have arrived there.

I wish I worked for a big Wall Street firm. No shortages of vaccine there.

"No Luck Finding an H1N1 Flu Shot? You're Not Alone"

If you've been frustrated in trying to get your kids vaccinated against H1N1 flu, you're not alone: Two thirds of parents who have sought vaccine for their children have failed to find it, according to a Harvard School of Public Health survey out today. That's no small deal, because 41 percent of the parents polled said they have tried to get their children vaccinated against swine flu. Hearing that big Wall Street firms Goldman Sachs and Citigroup got H1N1 vaccine doesn't do much to reassure worried parents that the system is directing vaccine to the kids who need it the most. Although almost 36 million doses of H1N1 vaccine have been distributed, many parents are still anxiously waiting.

...Half of people trying to find out where and when they could get H1N1 vaccine weren't able to, according to the Harvard survey. Puh-leez, public health folks! You've been training for pandemic vaccine distribution for years. The least you can do is let us know, in real time, where the vaccine is and how we can get it.

Rush Limbaugh sums up the situation very well:
There's a lot of anger and there's a lot of fear in the hinterlands, the heartland of this country about this duping that we've had on this swine flu vaccine. The White House stopped feeding the Drive-Bys their hysteria e-mail of the day and so they stopped covering the story. You know, every TV and radio newscast for months, it led, and now they've been found out to be the incompetent jerks we knew they were so the spin is silent and the Drive-Bys are too stupid to figure out that they have a real good story here: Government screwing up royally in vaccinating people against a declared emergency, a government declared emergency. Health department to get approval for a vaccine?

It pisses me off that the lib media aren't holding Obama accountable for this debacle.

His daughters have received vaccine. I guess he has no worries.

I'd like to see Obama attend a funeral for an H1N1 victim.

That's a photo-op Obama will avoid like the plague, or the Swine Flu.

Truck with H1N1 Vaccine Stolen: Milwaukee

The H1N1 vaccine is so scarce in Wisconsin.

Any doses that go to waste potentially can make a life or death difference.

Nine hundred doses were wasted on Thursday night.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

More than 900 doses of Milwaukee's allotted H1N1 flu vaccine will have to be returned to the manufacturer, officials said, after a truck used to transport the vaccine was stolen Thursday night.

The truck was taken shortly before 8 p.m. from the 1200 block of W. Highland Blvd. in front of Sarah Scott Middle School, where about 1,950 people received flu vaccinations Thursday, Police Capt. Michael Massa said.

The truck was found abandoned about 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of W. Vine St. and none of its contents appeared to be missing, Massa said.

A 38-year-old man who was seen in the truck was arrested nearby, and police were searching for two other men believed to have been with him, Massa said.

Because the vaccine was out of the possession of the Milwaukee Health Department for that time, the doses - both the injectable and nasally ingested vaccine - must be returned to the manufacturer, city health commissioner Bevan Baker said.

Baker and Paul A. Biedrzycki, director of disease control and environmental health for the city's health department, said they were not sure the doses would be replaced but Baker said he was sure that there would be enough vaccine. Baker said transportation of the vaccine was contracted out to a private company, and city health officials will conduct an internal investigation to determine whether the process could be improved.

"Enough vaccine"?

There's not "enough vaccine."

It's being rationed as the Swine Flu sweeps through the community.

Timing is critical.

It's bad enough that the Obama administration has failed to provide an adequate supply of vaccine to meet the demand. Now even the very limited quantity that has been meted out to Wisconsin has been cut by the criminal behavior of some thugs.

Wonderful.

Obama Administration Admits H1N1 Mistakes

From the Washington Times:

Two top officials at the Department of Health and Human Services acknowledged to a congressional panel Wednesday that the government had overpromised and made poor judgments on vaccination production against the current H1N1 flu pandemic.

The government's initial plan was to have 160 million doses available in October; the actual production at month's end was barely 15 percent of that -- 24.8 million doses.

"In hindsight, it's clear we should have been more skeptical," Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said of the government's consistently overstated estimates on the amount of vaccine that would be ready for public distribution.

Dr. Frieden spoke before a meeting of the House Appropriations subcommittee on labor, health and human services, education and related agencies, in response to concerns by Rep. David R. Obey, Wisconsin Democrat and the panel's chairman, about why production of supplies had been so slow and what needed to change for the future.

Dr. Frieden attributed the shortfall to the unpredictable rate of growth of the flu virus in egg cultures that are used to make the vaccine. In effect, the government failed to properly count its chickens -- or eggs -- before they hatched.

Bottom line: The Obama administration was tested on handling a nationwide health emergency.

It failed.

Where's the accountability?

This test came at a crucial time in Obama's plan to rip health care out of the private sector and initiate a big government takeover.

Government-run health care?

You've got to be kidding.

A simple vaccination program has been royally screwed up by government incompetence.

"Oops! We miscalculated. Sorry."

That doesn't fly.

The things government-run health care proponents have said wouldn't happen under ObamaCare have:
RATIONING

LONG LINES

DELAYS IN RECEIVING CARE

ACCESS TO LIFE-SAVING CARE

Only a fraction of Americans have been vaccinated.

Swine Flu has the upper hand, not the Obama administration.

HHS officials "overpromised."

It's inexcusable.

Are Obama and the Democrats also "overpromising" on the benefits of their health care system takeover?

Of course.

Pentagon: Guantanamo Detainees WILL Get Vaccine

Is Robert Gibbs lying again, or is this just another White House communication failure?

Today, Gibbs claimed that detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay would NOT be receiving H1N1 vaccine as millions and millions of taxpaying, law-abiding Americans wait for the government to provide them with Swine Flu protection.

FOX News reports:

Guantanamo Bay detainees will be receiving the H1N1 vaccine, the Pentagon confirmed Tuesday, even though White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said minutes earlier that the vaccine is not "on the way."

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said Gibbs was correct in saying the vaccine is not currently on its way, but clarified that it will be at the naval base on Cuba by the end of November.

"The department has an obligation to care for persons in its custody and we take that seriously," Whitman told Fox News. "There is a limited supply of this vaccine so we have prioritized our population."

Whitman said the vaccine would go first to deployed forces, then active duty, then health care workers, then detainees and then non-American contractors working for the Department of Defense.

Gibbs was less forthcoming when asked about earlier reports in which military officials said the vaccine would soon be on its way. Following some complaints that the detainees could be receiving the treatment before other Americans, Gibbs seemed to suggest that there were no plans to vaccinate the 215 detainees remaining in the facility.

"There is no vaccine in Guantanamo. There is no vaccine on the way to Guantanamo," Gibbs said. "I don't know what the Pentagon said. ... There wasn't any there and there wasn't any on the way."

How sleazy of Gibbs to play word games!

The Obama administration is not the most transparent in American history.

It's very, very opaque.

Bottom line: Gitmo detainees will likely get vaccinated before you do. Moreover, they won't have to stand in line for hours.

The Obama administration has really screwed up on protecting Americans during this pandemic. It's failed miserably. MISERABLY.

It's November. I expected to have received my vaccine weeks ago.

In the meantime, I'm washing my hands raw.

Obama has been tested and he failed.

Put our health care system in the government's hands?

No way in hell.

No H1N1 Vaccines for Guantanamo Detainees

The Obama White House is backtracking on giving detainees at Guantanamo Bay H1N1 vaccine.

Just 48 hours ago, Team Obama wasn't backing down.

Terrorism suspects held at the Guantanamo Bay naval base will soon get swine flu vaccines, despite complaints that American civilians should have priority, a military spokesman said Sunday.

Army Maj. James Crabtree, a spokesman for the U.S. jail facility in southeast Cuba, said the doses should start arriving this month, with guards and then inmates scheduled for inoculations.

He acknowledged there may be an "emotional response" from critics who argue that terror suspects should not be allocated swine-flu medications while members of the U.S. public are still waiting due to a vaccine shortage.

But he said U.S. military officials are "responsible for the health and care of the detainee population."

Medical personnel at Guantanamo requested the doses, but Crabtree said he did not know how many.

*** FLIP FLOP ALERT * FLIP FLOP ALERT * FLIP FLOP ALERT ***

WASHINGTON (AP)
-- The White House says detainees at Guantanamo Bay are not receiving vaccinations against the swine flu vaccine.

Robert Gibbs on Tuesday said concern that terrorism suspects at the U.S. naval base in Cuba were receiving vaccines was misplaced. Gibbs says no vaccines are at the naval base and none are on the way. A spokesman for the U.S. jail facility a day earlier said guards and then inmates were scheduled for inoculations. Critics were fast to object, saying U.S. civilians were waiting for vaccines while suspected terrorists were being given injections.

There's an important lesson here.

When the public rises up, Obama will jump.

He's not a leader.

Another lesson--

The Obama White House makes some really idiotic decisions. It's amateur hour.

He also appears to be very aware that he can't afford to piss off anyone with his popularity dwindling and Americans becoming more and more disappointed by him.

Tips to Avoid Flu on Halloween

Trick-or-Treat!

These tips on how to stay healthy this Halloween come from KCRA, Sacramento:

Doctors are warning people of all ages, especially parents, to be aware of the scary truth about Halloween and H1N1 when they go to parties or trick or treating.

Dr. Peaslee Dumont said keeping a child from getting sick means following some simple guidelines.

"It's not so important to kill the germs -- it's to wash them away," said Dumont, who works in Vacaville, where a first-grader died last week apparently from H1N1.

That's exactly what Kat Byers plans to do with her 2-year-old daughter, Jessica.

"Keep sanitizer on us, make sure she washes her hands at all times," Byers said.

Other parents, like Marina Stitzel, have similar plans.

"I don't think you can be careful enough," Stitzel said.

Stitzel's son, Stephano, is 3years old, and he knows exactly what he wants to be this Halloween.

"Spiders," Stephano said.

So Stitzel is going trick-or-treating with some goodies of her own.

"We have the baby wipes and hand wipes with us were constantly cleaning his hands," Stitzel said.

Dr. Dumont said washing your hands and being a bit more vigilant than normal is the trick.

"Anyone who is sick, is coughing or sneezing, should stay home, even though it's Halloween," Dumont said.

He said those who are sick or live in a home where someone is ill should also avoid handing out candy.

Some doctors also recommend that people use a scoop rather than their hands when giving out candy.

Doctors also urge shoppers not to try on costumes in stores. They recommend that buyers buy a costume that comes wrapped in plastic, and to wash a mask before wearing it.

A scoop?

I will not be handing out wrapped candy with a scoop. That's too awkward.

I think I'll wear medical exam gloves.

Good grief.

Instead of getting razor blades in apples (Does anyone give out apples anymore?), people can fear getting the dreaded H1N1 virus.

If you're sick, you shouldn't go trick-or-treating or go to a party. If you're sick, you shouldn't be giving out candy.

Same as every other year.

I think it's time to get a grip.

Swine Flu Vaccine Availability Improving, Especially for First Daughters

The government is putting a positive spin on the availability of H1N1 vaccine.

Celebrate! The outlook is improving!

Does that mean no long lines? Enough supply to meet demand?

Not even close.

ATLANTA (AP)
-- More than 22 million doses of swine flu vaccine are available now, and most Americans should soon find it easier to get their dose, U.S. health officials said Tuesday.

"We're beginning to get to significant increases in the availability," said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at a briefing.

"Significant increases"?

Yeah, right.

Even with these supposedly tremendous increases, the odds are not good that you'll have access to vaccine.

Last week there were just 14 million doses on hand, despite predictions that as many as 120 million doses would be ready by mid-October. The slow supply trickle has frustrated Americans, who have stood in line for hours in some parts of the country.

The Obama administration failed to deliver. It was way, WAY off on its predictions of availability of vaccine.

The amount of vaccine available isn't nearly enough. It's not close to what was promised.

The shortage has probably increased demand, Frieden said.

"It's quite likely that that too little vaccine is one of the things that's making people more interested in getting vaccinated, frankly. When we have shortages, we see an increase in demand," he said.

People are probably frightened. They stand in lines for hours because they're being told by local health departments this may be their only chance to get vaccinated.
The vaccine is grown in eggs in a reliable but slow process, and smaller amounts of it were being produced per egg than expected. There were other snags, too, but health officials say manufacturers have overcome most of those and are making the vaccine more speedily.

The government has ordered 225 million doses.

Enough with the egg stuff.

The buck stops with the Obama administration.

The Bush Administration was blamed for flu vaccine shortages. No one was blaming the freaking eggs. The Obama administration should be held to the same standard. Period.

Hey, CDC! It's not reassuring that 22 million doses are available. There are 300 million Americans.

Sasha and Malia Obama received their Swine Flu vaccines last week.

A spokeswoman for the First Lady's office says Sasha & Malia Obama received their H1N1 vaccines last week after the immunizations were made available to Washington, D.C. school children. The White House physician applied for and received the vaccines through the DC Department of Health, "using the same process as every other vaccination site in the District."

BS.

Did Michelle stand in line for hours with her kids to get them immunized?

Were they turned away when supplies of vaccine ran out?

Lefties would have flipped out if the Bush daughters had received vaccinations while young people around the country were denied access due to shortages.

Fallon: Favre, Obama, Swine Flu Joke

JIMMY FALLON: This is big news. President Obama just declared the Swine Flu outbreak a national emergency. A couple weeks ago it was, like, 'It's calmed down. It's gonna be fine.'

Now, it's a national emergency. I'm telling ya, the swine flu is a big threat, then it's not, then it is. Make up your mind. This thing is like the Brett Favre of infectious diseases. What are we gonna do with this thing?

Sebelius and Swine Flu Vaccine Supply

The woefully inadequate supply of H1N1 vaccine and the screwed up distribution process and the slew of mixed messages from government officials provides a glimpse into government-run health care:

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Monday the swine flu vaccine "is coming out the door as fast as it comes off the production line."

But at the same time, she acknowledged delays in getting a sufficient supply for all those demanding it.

...Appearing Monday morning on nationally broadcast news shows, she said officials now have a supply of about 16.5 million doses of the vaccine, while conceding that's millions of doses below the amount needed.

Sebelius said she couldn't predict just how widespread the virus will be. Roughly a thousand people have died from it so far in the United States. But she also said officials do not believe there is yet any cause to close down schools and cease other daily activities.

President Barack Obama declared a health emergency over the weekend to give hospitals and health professionals more leeway from federal regulations to respond to the illness....

Asked what advice she would give to people who have waited futilely in line for shots, the secretary replied, "I want them to come back."

"I hope that people aren't discouraged," she said. "I know it's frustrating to wait in line and particularly if you end up with no vaccine. We wish this could have been smoother, that we had a larger supply. We knew it would come in waves."

Sebelius sought to assure people that eventually there will be enough supplies "for everyone."

Eventually?

Define "eventually."

This is government-run health care.

This is you on government-run health care.

Any questions?
