Podesta Gave Away His Password

We've known this for months. John Podesta allowed his email account to be hacked. He offered access to his information because he screwed up and his staff screwed up.

in addition, the guy's password was "password"!

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange told Fox News' Sean Hannity in an exclusive interview that a teenager could have hacked into Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta's computer and retrieved damaging email messages that the website published during last year's election campaign.

"We published several ... emails which show Podesta responding to a phishing email," Assange said during Part I of the interview, which aired on "Hannity" Tuesay night. "Podesta gave out that his password was the word ‘password’. His own staff said this email that you’ve received, this is totally legitimate. So, this is something ... a 14-year-old kid could have hacked Podesta that way."

...Wikileaks published more than 50,000 emails detailing dubious practices at the Clinton Foundation, top journalists working closely with the Clinton campaign, key Clinton aides speaking derisively of Catholics and a top Democratic National Committee (DNC) official providing debate questions to Clinton in advance.

Assange has repeatedly denied claims by the Obama administration that Russia was behind the cyberattacks that exposed the DNC and Podesta emails. Assange has repeatedly insisted that Wikileaks' source for the emails was not the Russian government or any "state party," and said the outgoing administration was attempting to "delegitimize" President-Elect Donald Trump by making those claims.

When it comes to Podesta, he granted access to his account.

That was not some sort of sophisticated cyberattack. It was his mistake.

When it comes to the Obama administration's claim that the Russian government was behind the hacking alleged to influence the election, there's something that doesn't make sense.

Why would Russia want Trump to be president? It certainly seems it would have been in Russia's interests to have Hillary Clinton, an appeaser, be elected and continue the dreadfully misguided and weak Obama foreign policy.

Trump has promised to rebuild our military. Why would Russia want that?

Sean Hannity Interviews Julian Assange

Julian Assange insists that Russia was not the source of the hacked emails from the DNC and John Podesta.

He says it was "no state party."

SEAN HANNITY: Can you say to the American people, unequivocally, that you did not get this information about the DNC, John Podesta's emails, can you tell the American people 1,000 percent that you did not get it from Russia or anybody associated with Russia?

JULIAN ASSANGE: Yes. We can say, we have said, repeatedly that over the last two months that our source is not the Russian government and it is not a state party.

If the source is ever revealed and it's not Russia, Obama will look like a complete fool.

Assange Arrested

WikiLeaker Julian Assange was arrested today in the UK. He was apprehended for sex crimes in Sweden, not for splashing U.S. classified documents or holding the Obama administration hostage.

It's like Al Capone being arrested and convicted for tax evasion.

Given how consistently Julian Assange has thumbed his nose at, well, the entire diplomatic world, it was probably only a matter of time until law authorities caught up with him.

It happened early in the U.K. on Tuesday on an international warrant related to sexual-assault accusations in Sweden, setting up a battle over an extradition he has already pledged to fight. London’s Metropolitan Police said Assange appeared by appointment at a London police station at 9:30 a.m. local time Tuesday. Early in the afternoon, he arrived at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court in a black sedan that was swamped by photographers before disappearing into a garage.

Assange’s attorney, Mark Stephens, arrived a short time later, saying only that the WikiLeaks’ founder was in “good spirits” and his interaction with police had been “cordial.” Stephens has said he plans to fight the validity of the Swedish arrest warrant in court. The U.K. is known for carefully scrutinizing extradition requests, and in some high-profile cases has rejected these requests and refused to extradite people.

Assange’s arrest is totally unrelated to his document-leaking activities. But U.S. officials indicated they weren’t displeased to see him apprehended. “That sounds like good news to me,” said Defense Secretary Robert Gates, speaking to reporters in Eastern Afghanistan.

Does this mean Assange's leaks have been plugged?

No.

Mr. Assange’s associates said his detention would not alter plans for further disclosures like the wealth of field reports from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq that it released over the summer and fall, and, over the past nine days, confidential diplomatic messages between the State Department and American representatives abroad.

“Today’s actions against our editor-in-chief Julian Assange won’t affect our operations: we will release more cables tonight as normal,” a posting on the WikiLeaks Twitter account said.

That left unclear whether a more serious threat would be carried out. In recent days, Mr. Assange has asserted that “over 100,000 people” had downloaded the entire archive of 251,287 cables in encrypted form. Only around 1,000 of the cables have so far been released; in many, names of sources who might be compromised or endangered were redacted.

“If something happens to us, the key parts will be released automatically,” Mr. Assange wrote in a question-and-answer session on the Web site of the British newspaper The Guardian. Mr. Stephens, the lawyer, reiterated that warning on Tuesday saying a “a virtual network” of “thousands of journalists” around the world would ensure that the rest of the documents would be published.

In the meantime, Assange's fans remain loyal.

Reporters and television crews from around the world watched as an armored wagon holding Mr. Assange pulled away from the court, and photographers rushed at its rear windows, cameras flashing. Dozens of WikiLeaks supporters who had gathered outside the courthouse converged on vehicle, banging on its side panels and yelling "We love you!"

Al Capone also had his fans.

Some considered him a celebrity and a philanthropist, not a ruthless, murderous thug.

Assange, a 39-year-old Australian, is wanted in Sweden over allegations he sexually assaulted two women, was refused bail today in Britain on the grounds he was a flight risk, and is scheduled for another hearing Dec. 14.

Two women claim Assange did not wear a condom during their relations, despite it being an "express wish."

Richard Stengel: TIME, Assange, and WikiLeaks

Richard Stengel, editor of TIME magazine, says that TIME's job is not to protect the United States. It's "to publish and be damned."

Free speech comes with responsibilities. This blab and be damned stuff is ridiculous.

Although Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, is a wanted man and in hiding, TIME knew where to find him. Assange is even the magazine's cover boy this week.

I believe Stengel is completely sincere when he says he doesn't care about protecting the U.S., but he clearly cares about protecting Assange.

Stengel claims his duty is to publish anything and everything.

Spilling information that could harm the country and even put American lives at risk doesn't concern him. He takes no responsibility for the fall-out from what is printed in TIME. It's not his problem.

Here's Max Boot, foreign policy expert, writing in "Commentary" magazine, accusing the news organizations involved in this of collaborating with an accused rapist, says, "The conduct of all concerned is reprehensible and beneath contempt." "This is journalism," he says, "as pure vandalism."

What's your thoughts on that?

RICHARD STENGEL, MANAGING EDITOR, "TIME": You know, our job is to publish and be damned, Howard, and that's what we have done. Those accusations against Assange in some cases are unfair. I mean, the criminal here, if there is a criminal, is Bradley Manning, who is the PFC in the Army who leaked those documents to Assange in the first place.

Our job is to shed light on this. Our job is to give greater transparency and put it in context, as Mark was saying.

KURTZ: But Rick, you say right here in your editor's note in "TIME" magazine that these documents released by WikiLeaks "harm national security," and that Assange meant to do so.

STENGEL: Right. I know. But there's no way around that.

I mean, I believe that's Assange's intention. I believe on balance that they have been detrimental to the U.S. But our job is not to protect the U.S. in that sense. I mean, the First Amendment protects us in terms of releasing this information which does enlighten people about the way the U.S. conducts foreign policy.

Stengel is not doing something noble; but in his liberal elitist bubble, I think he considers himself to be heroic.

The fact is Stengel is one of Assange's soldiers in his war against the U.S.

Bradley Manning leaked documents, but Assange and his army are the ones using them as weapons.

Stengel lies when he says it's his job "to publish and be damned." He doesn't do that.

He withholds the truth and twists the truth, to suit his agenda. He only publishes what fits. Stengel conveniently ignores all the inconvenient truths.

"Publish and be damned"?

Yeah, right.

For someone professing to be compelled to serve the public by publishing the truth without regard for the consequences, Stengel's outright lies and lies of omission become even more reprehensible.

Supposedly, Obama is outraged about WikiLeaks and the spilling of U.S. State's Secrets. Robert Gibbs used milder terms, describing Obama as "not pleased."

Is Obama outraged or "not pleased" by the New York Times and other outlets publishing the documents?

These are the same news organizations that refused to publish cartoons of Mohammed.

What's Obama going to do about this egregious breach in security?

Nothing, but insist that he's angry or at least kind of ticked off?

That's not enough.

The buck stops with Obama. Since he's not going to resign because he has shown himself to be incapable of safeguarding our national security, he must take some significant action within his administration.

Hillary Clinton, U.S Secretary of State, head of the U.S Department of State, should be fired.



This happened on Hillary's watch. She has to go. She has to be held accountable.

It's not enough to simply pin responsibility on Bradley Manning, WikiLeaker.

According to Robert Gibbs, the White House made no attempt to stop the media from disclosing the documents.

The White House says it didn't try to stop news organizations who had access to secret U.S. military documents from publishing reports about the leaks.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says he met with reporters from The New York Times, one of the outlets with the documents, last week. He says he sent a message through the reporters to the head of WikiLeaks asking that the online whistle-blower redact information in the documents that could harm U.S. military personnel.

Gibbs says the White House also received questions Friday from Der Spiegel, a German magazine that also had early access to the documents.

WikiLeaks posted 91,000 classified documents on Afghanistan Sunday. The organization's founder says he still has thousands more Afghan files to post.
