AP: Democrats' Coronavirus Readiness Lies

Even the Leftist Associated Press acknowledges that Democrats are misleading the public about our readiness to deal with the coronavirus threat.

From AP:

Democratic presidential contenders are describing the federal infectious-disease bureaucracy as rudderless and ill-prepared for the coronavirus threat because of budget cuts and ham-handed leadership by President Donald Trump. That’s a distorted picture. For starters, Trump hasn’t succeeded in cutting the budget.

He’s proposed cuts but Congress ignored him and increased financing instead. The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t suffering from budget cuts that never took effect.

THE BUDGET OF THE CDC HAS NOT BEEN CUT.

MIKE BLOOMBERG: “There’s nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing. And he’s defunded — he’s defunded Centers for Disease Control, CDC, so we don’t have the organization we need. This is a very serious thing.” — debate Tuesday night.

JOE BIDEN, comparing the Obama-Biden administration with now: “We increased the budget of the CDC. We increased the NIH budget. ... He’s wiped all that out. ... He cut the funding for the entire effort.”

THE FACTS: They’re both wrong to say the agencies have seen their money cut. Bloomberg is repeating the false allegation in a new ad that states the U.S. is unprepared for the virus because of “reckless cuts” to the CDC. Trump’s budgets have proposed cuts to public health, only to be overruled by Congress, where there’s strong bipartisan support for agencies such as the CDC and NIH. Instead, financing has increased.

Indeed, the money that government disease detectives first tapped to fight the latest outbreak was a congressional fund created for health emergencies.

Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. But that decline was set in motion by a congressional budget measure that predates Trump.

The broader point about there being “nobody here” to coordinate the response sells short what’s in place to handle an outbreak.

The public health system has a playbook to follow for pandemic preparation — regardless of who’s president or whether specific instructions are coming from the White House. Those plans were put into place in anticipation of another flu pandemic, but are designed to work for any respiratory-borne disease.

Among the health authorities overseeing the work are Dr. Anne Schuchat, CDC’s principal deputy director and a veteran of previous outbreaks, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, NIH’s infectious disease chief who has advised six presidents.

Not only the Democrat presidential candidates are lying.

Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi and their minions along with their media mouthpieces are trying to create a panic. That's inexcusable.

While the Democrats wasted their time as well as tens of millions of tax dollars on their various anti-Trump witch hunts and the impeachment circus, President Trump and the appropriate government agencies were addressing the coronavirus threat.

She and every Democrat on that debate stage advocate for the killing of babies in the womb.

On Tuesday, Warren voted against the bill to give medical care to babies born alive in "botched" abortions.

"Kill it" seems to be her personal motto.

Bernie Sanders filed Monday to be a candidate for the Senate in 2024 — as an independent.

But last month, Sanders filed as a Democrat for president.

It's not unusual for candidates to file with the Federal Election Commission for re-election to their current office, which allows them to begin raising money. Most candidates file shortly after Election Day, in fact.

But with Sanders, it creates the odd situation of having a high-profile presidential candidate file to run for two different offices with different parties, just as the Democratic Party is adopting rules mandating presidential candidates take something of a loyalty pledge.

The Democrat Party appears bent on electing Socialist Sanders.

New Hampshire Primary Results

It seems many Democrats are really struggling.

They've rejected Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren, but they're not on board with Socialist Bernie Sanders. They're lost and rather desperate, searching for a candidate, flipping and flopping.

From FOX News:

Neither Joe Biden nor Elizabeth Warren will receive any delegates from New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary -- a stunning result for candidates who both had been atop the national polls.

...Warren, D-Mass., who appeared to finish in fourth place, garnered less than 10 percent of the vote in the Granite State. Biden, who appeared to finish in fifth place, received less than 9 percent of the vote.

Meanwhile, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., won the New Hampshire primary with nearly 26 percent, and former mayor of South Bend, Ind., Pete Buttigieg came in second place slightly behind. Late-surging Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., came in third place with roughly 20 percent of the vote, meaning all three will collect Democratic delegates.

The rise of Buttigieg and Klobuchar seems rooted more in dissatisfaction with Biden and Warren then support for the mayor and the senator.

With so many Democrat televised debates these past months, it's odd that Buttigieg and Klobuchar didn't garner any excitement until now.

It points to just how terribly Biden and Warren are doing.

Without a doubt, the Democrats desperately want to block President Trump's reelection. We know they'll lie, cheat, and steal to make that happen.

Is Bernie Sanders capable of defeating the president?

I don't think so. Yes, he has the support of radicals, but that doesn't translate to a victory in November.

I don't think Buttigieg and Klobuchar have what it would take to convince the nation to reject the winning policies and amazing results that President Trump has delivered.

Bloomberg, like the other Democrats, would be a tough sell, too.

The large soda ban is probably enough to make him unelectable.

President Trump is the big winner coming out of New Hampshire.
