Holt took the helm at “NBC Nightly News” in 2015 as the network was embroiled in controversy — after it was revealed that the evening news’ previous anchor Brian Williams had falsely claimed he was aboard a helicopter shot down in Iraq.

Following the scandal, Holt filled in for Williams as the disgraced anchor was slapped with a six-month suspension without pay. Holt was officially given the job after it was decided Williams would move to left-leaning MSNBC.

Wow. Time flies. I didn't realize it's been a decade since Brian Williams revealed himself to be a brazen liar, an utter disgrace.

MSNBC put the tweet up. It wasn't like Williams and Mara Gay of the New York Times were caught off guard.

MARA GAY: Somebody tweeted recently that actually with the money he [Michael Bloomberg] spent he could have given every American a million dollars.

BRIAN WILLIAMS: I've got it. Let's put it up on the screen. When I read it tonight on social media, it kind of all became clear. 'Bloomberg spent $500 million on ads. The U.S. population is 327 million.' Don't tell us if you're ahead of us on the math. 'He could have given each American $1 million and have had lunch money left over.' It's an incredible way of putting it.

MARA GAY: It's an incredible way of putting it. It's true. It's disturbing. It does suggest, you know, what we're talking about here. There's too much money in politics.

We're obviously WAY ahead of Williams and Gay on the math.

What "all became clear" is that Williams and Gay and those involved with them at MSNBC desperately need some remedial math classes.

Some respected conservative outlets are not pleased with the role former Milwaukee conservative talk radio host Charlie Sykes has chosen.

In another hilarious case of irony, The 11th Hour host and serial liar Brian Williams teed up guest Charlie Sykes on Tuesday to lambaste conservative media (like the one you’re reading) for being why no one trusts mainstream media in the age of Trump and alternative facts.

Sykes and Williams offered no arguments or examples of how the establishment media have torpedoed their own credibility with false stories and a decidedly liberal slant. Instead, it was an exclusive attack on conservatives for supposedly enabling President Trump to offer misstatements without consequences.

Overall, the former conservative host stated that his “concern is not just that's [Trump’s] lying” but “[i]t's an attack on the concept of the truth itself — of credibility and my main concern is that you'll have millions of voters at some point who will basically say, ‘what is truth?’”

Failing to realize that he’s joined an echo-chamber in which Manhattan elites sit around reading The New York Times and The New Yorker while watching The Daily Show, Sykes knocked anyone supporting Trump as “pick[ing] the facts that confirm our bias, that support our guy and ignore the facts that don't support our guy.”

“[A]nd then we're in a very, very, you know, dangerous place for democracy,” he surmised.

Once again, the irony can’t be lost on how this is occurring on a Brian Williams-hosted program.

Continuing to parody the likes of [CNN's Brian] Stelter, Sykes compared the current United States to that of countries under the rule of authoritarism:

Now, this is something that, in authoritarian regimes, people are used to, which is that the leader will define what is the truth. And all criticism is delegitimized. By the way, criticism from federal judges, criticism from the media, criticism from the intelligence agencies, that all of those sources of independent information or checks are basically — well and they are — and they are discredited.

“So what is the source of truth? Well it, comes from the leader. This, again, familiar to authoritarian regimes, very alien to a democratic society,” he concluded.

The media has done plenty to undermine their cause. Aside from their boy who cried wolf fears about past Republican candidates, their false stories, slanted analyses, and failed predictions stand out.

As the Federalist’s Daniel Payne wrote, the news media have published at least 16 different fake or false stories in the scant number of days since Trump was inaugurated on January 20.

If Sykes wants to blame conservatives for simply pointing out the faults of the mainstream media, perhaps he should instead emphasize that legacy media should think twice before concocting untrue narratives or going forward with stories without sufficient fact-checking.

How can Brian Williams be part of any discussion regarding the loss of credibility of the mainstream media?

Williams certainly belongs on the All-Star Team of most notorious liars in the media.

Clearly, committed individuals at the Media Research Center and at NewsBusters have toiled for years, exposing the lies of the Leftist media. They have been an invaluable source of truth and have provided a tremendous service.

They deserve respect. They have earned it.

Understandably, they don't appear to appreciate being slurred by Sykes.

Matt Lauer was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday.

I remember this hilarious video from Today.

In 2005, NBC News reporter Michelle Kosinski was paddling a canoe through floodwaters in Wayne, New Jersey, looking to be risking life and limb, until some guys strolled in front of her, walking through water only up to their ankles.

Busted!

Still makes me laugh.



The only thing that would have made that better would be if Brian Williams had been in the canoe instead of Kosinski.

To their credit Lauer and Katie Couric did acknowledge the embarrassment.

And, it should be noted that seemingly shallow floodwaters can be treacherous.

That said, don't believe the liberal media.

The Leftist media really nauseate me.

MSNBC is in a different universe. I can't relate to those people.

Tim Graham, NewsBusters, reports that Maria Shriver, a Catholic, said she was embarrassed to enter her church before Pope Francis.

NBC’s resident Catholic pundit Maria Shriver proclaimed on MSNBC on Wednesday afternoon that Pope Francis has now made it possible to enter a Catholic church without it being “kind of embarrassing.”

This is someone who might feel it “kind of embarrassing” that Grandpa had her Aunt Rosemary lobotomized, or that her movie-star husband had affairs (and a child) with the household help. She was telling all this to Brian Williams – the freshest embarrassment of NBC News.

I was talking to a priest just the day before yesterday and he said pointing to his collar, you know, two years ago people saw this on me and they thought I was a pedophile. Today, they see me and they come up and say “I love your pope. Give him a hug. I want to know more about him."

And I myself as a Catholic, you know, just two years ago, two and a half years ago. That's a very short time, it was kind of embarrassing to walk into your church. You had a lot of questions. You felt bad about what was going on. You felt bad they weren't responding to a lot of these allegations, doing anything about it. And now you have a man who has really changed that, stepped forward who has made changes, not only in the Vatican but all the way down to the kind of parish level.

This passage misrepresents the long-standing effort to address the sex-abuse scandals in the American church, starting with the first serious national media investigations in 2002. (Ask any of us who were finger-printed before we could teach religious education to Catholic children a decade ago.) The notion that the Vatican wasn’t “doing anything” or “responding to a lot of these allegations” of sex abuse before Francis isn’t accurate journalism, and even more objectionable coming from someone posing as a Catholic expert on the Catholic response.

Shriver seemed relieved in some sense because Francis is changing the “emphasis of dialogue” to liberal-pleasing issues like climate change and illegal immigration.

It amazes me that Shriver and those of her ilk can compartmentalize the way they do. They create and embrace characters to fit their agenda.

The reality is Pope Francis has not changed the Catholic Church. He hasn't altered anything about it significantly.

I guess Shriver should still be embarrassed.

NBC Fires Trump

NBC dumped Donald Trump for comments he made about immigrants from Mexico.

Slamming the network for standing “behind lying Brian Williams” but not him, Donald Trump wasted no time today threatening NBC with legal action over the net canceling its planned airing of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. “Their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court,” said Trump’s office in a statement Monday. “Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.”

This lawsuit threat comes as the Comcast-owned network severed its relationship today with the Miss Universe organization and its Celebrity Apprentice co-owner over remarks Trump made about “rapists” immigrants from Mexico when he kicked off his Presidential bid last month.

As of today, Donald J. Trump is no longer affiliated with NBC. Mr. Trump stands by his statements on illegal immigration, which are accurate. NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct— that is why our country is in serious trouble.

Mr. Trump says, “We must have strong borders and not let illegal immigrants enter the United States. As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now. Long ago I told NBC that I would not being doing The Apprentice because I am running for President in order to Make our Country Great Again.”

Mr. Trump continued, “If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court. Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.”

There is no question that NBC has a history of supporting its "talent," showing great tolerance.

As Trump points out, NBC stands behind the disgraced lying Brian Williams and his stolen valor stories. Sure, he's being demoted to MSNBC, for a while, but the network didn't sever ties with the liar.

Speaking of disgraces tolerated by NBC, Alec Baldwin comes to mind. When he was on 30 Rock, Baldwin again and again behaved badly, often spewing Twitter rants. In the case below, Baldwin attacked "blood thirsty right wing trash," like Michelle Malkin.






In the case of another Baldwin explosion, NBC didn't fire him when he made homophobic remarks.



Another problem for NBC: Al Sharpton. How can NBC have a hatemonger and race baiter like Al Sharpton under its employ?

Clearly, Leftists on NBC can say and do anything with impunity.

Trump, however, gets dumped.

Definitely no consistency.

Brian Williams Stays at NBC

Brian Williams, the face of stolen valor, will remain at NBC news.

Serial liar Brian Williams won't be the anchorman for NBC Nightly News, but he will be a news guy at MSNBC.

NBC just won't let Bri-Willy go.

NBC is planning to announce on Thursday that Brian Williams will not return to his position as the anchor of its “Nightly News” show, four months after the network suspended him for exaggerating his experiences during a helicopter attack in Iraq, according to two people briefed on the decision.

Mr. Williams is expected to move to a new role at NBC News, primarily at the cable news network MSNBC, which would probably be in a breaking-news capacity at the beginning, according to one of the people.

...Exactly what Mr. Williams’s new role at NBC entails is not clear. But revitalizing MSNBC, which has suffered sharp ratings declines, is known to be a priority of Andrew Lack, the former president of NBC News who was brought back in March to head the division. With the evening news anchor decision out of the way, Mr. Lack is expected to focus a good portion of his attention on fixing MSNBC, and in the coming months, the cable network is expected to introduce more hard news and more reporting from NBC News talent during daytime hours, according to a person briefed on the plans. That would be something of a break from its more opinion-based programming.

The new role can be viewed as a humbling comedown for Mr. Williams, who before the controversy was one of the country’s most prominent and respected broadcast journalists. One point of contention during the negotiations over his new role at the network was the extent to which Mr. Williams would apologize for the controversy, according to a television executive who discussed the issue with people at NBC.

Pathetic.

I guess since Williams self-identifies as a journalist we should accept him as a journalist, even though he's a documented liar about news stories.

I don't trust NBC News; and not just because the main face of NBC News, the suspended Brian Williams, is a liar.

It's not a fair and balanced news operation. NBC News pushes a Leftist agenda.

So why trust an NBC News poll?

I don't.

But it raises the issue of Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton and Election 2016.

As a conservative, I don't want Jeb Bush to be the Republican nominee. However, if he did get the nomination, I would vote for him and do all I could to keep a Leftist from continuing the Obama disaster. I really don't think Jeb will be the nominee. I'm confident the grassroots conservatives won't allow that to happen. We'll defeat the establishment Republicans.

According to the poll:

In the early battle for the Republican presidential nomination, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio appear to have more appeal among Republican voters than Bush does, according to the poll.

In the survey, 53 percent of potential Republican primary voters say they could see themselves supporting Walker, versus 17 percent who couldn't (+36 points).

At this point, Walker is my guy. But there are many other attractive Republican candidates as well, lots of talented and qualified individuals.

Jeb and other estabilshment Repubicans do not have my support. His nomination would be a worst case scenario for me.

As far as Hillary Clinton goes, I wouldn't mind if she got the Democrat nomination.

I think she'd lose the general election.

I can't see Hillary generating the sort of excitement necessary to win.

I am so sick of Hillary and the whole mess that is the Clintons. Enough.

Definitely, I want change in 2016.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald has admitted that he lied about serving in the special operations forces in a conversation with a homeless veteran that was caught on camera earlier this year.

McDonald made the claim in January while he was in Los Angeles as part of the VA's effort to locate and house homeless veterans. During the tour, a homeless man told McDonald that he had served in the special operations forces.

"Special forces? What years?" McDonald responded. "I was in special forces." The exchange was broadcast on "The CBS Evening News" Jan. 30. McDonald's misstatement was first reported by The Huffington Post.

McDonald graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1975 and completed Army Ranger training before being assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division until his retirement in 1980. According to the Huffington Post, while McDonald was formally recognized as a graduate of Ranger School, he never actually served in a Ranger battalion or other special operations unit.

"I have no excuse," the website quoted McDonald as saying in its report. "I was not in special forces."

Oh, my God.

What a stupid thing to do!

No kidding McDonald has no excuse. What excuse could you possibly have for saying you were in special forces when you weren't? Just a temporary lapse into Brian Williams mode?

In a statement released Monday by the VA, McDonald said: "While I was in Los Angeles, engaging a homeless individual to determine his veteran status, I asked the man where he had served in the military. He responded that he had served in special forces. I incorrectly stated that I had been in special forces. That was inaccurate and I apologize to anyone that was offended by my misstatement."

McDonald told the Huffington Post that he had "reacted spontaneously and ... wrongly" in response to the homeless man's claim.

"As I thought about it later, I knew that this was wrong," McDonald said of his false statement.

"As I thought about it later"?!?

How about not letting a lie come out of your mouth in the first place?

"I knew that this was wrong."

Ooh, good for you, McDonald. What great moral fiber you have! You knew that LYING about your military service was wrong. Wow. What a guy!

The White House released a statement Monday evening saying that it had accepted McDonald's explanation.

"Secretary McDonald has apologized for the misstatement and noted that he never intended to misrepresent his military service," the statement said. "We take him at his word and expect that this will not impact the important work he’s doing to promote the health and well-being of our nation’s veterans."

I'm sorry, but what a load!

What did McDonald do? Lose control and UNINTENTIONALLY misrepresent his military service?

The statement from the White House is truly insulting.

I would appreciate an honest statement, something like "Obviously, McDonald lied but we don't care." This "he never intended to misrepresent his military service" is ridiculous.

I'm really sick of these flat-out liars.
