This is truly embarrassing.
Robert De Niro used to shy away from cameras when he wasn't performing a role. He didn't do many interviews. He wouldn't appear on talk shows to promote movies. If he made an appearance, it was always awkward and strained.
Since Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, De Niro has assumed the role of Trump-hater supreme. He's been ranting about President Trump for years and he's grown very comfortable in that role. Knowing the actor's past behavior, his crazed anti-Trump remarks seem even more unhinged.
De Niro seems to be comfortable when he's expressing hate for President Trump because he's performing a role. He likes wearing his anti-Trump mask, and his COVID mask.
